List your favourites and reasons why you like them.

Elder Wyrm: It was a really challenging battle first time I fought it, mostly due to its numerous status attacks.
Doctor Cid (both times): Great fun to battle, challenging and nice attack scenes. Also, one of the few boss battles that felt like it really belonged as part of the story, with the father/son relationship between Cid and Balthier.
Mimic Queen: I thought this was a great idea for a boss scenario with the Battery Mimics being your main foes prior to meeting her. Also, I liked the way she would constantly spawn new mimics throughout the battle if you kept killing her minions.
Mandragoras: I just thought they were hilarious. Also, I liked the fact that it was part of an improvised 'hunt' involving the rich guys from Archadia. I just love the Archadians in this game, what with their snobbish mannerisms and speech.
Fury: What's not to like about a mentally unstable bunny rabbit?

I prefer the Demon Walls. They're much cuter than Rage.

Mandragoras, for the hilarity, and the improvised hunt "bill".

Urutan Eater - I enjoyed fighting with the Urutan Yensas, a little silly, but that's my reason.

Ring Wrym - I went into it expecting to be wiped out. Instead i was pleasantly surprised at how well i did.

Rocktoise - The little bit of comedy you got from beating it, and the Nidhogg was great. And I had to use proper tactics and a method to beat it.

Judge Bergan - I was really up for beating him, one because he was dead cocky, and two because he had just killed Grand Kiltias Anastasis. So i wanted revenge. :p

I will also agree with Ceidwad about the Elder Wyrm

I know that mine are not all necessary story bosses, but i think they still count.

Zeromus. totally haha. its only cause i started fighting him at like level 35 and it took freakin forever. i had to keep running in and out of the stilshrine to see if my newly leveled characters could take him. didnt get it til level 50 or so haha

Well, The Undying gets my vote, just because the battle theme is so pants-wetting amazing. Plus, when you've leveled up to about 90, it's funny to sick Balthier and Basch on him, completely unarmed, and watch them beat him into submission with their bare hands.

Zalera - Mainly because he was my favorite esper.

Yiazmat... Just because at high levels no one else is really a challenge. I think they should have normal enemies be almost equally as hard in some cases just not 50 million HP. That is one thing I liked about X-2, once you got to the lower levels of Bevelle, you fought the really hard bosses at random but I ran cuz that shit is hard.

Shadowseer and Ultima because they're actually challenging in a fun way and not an annoying way. If you really want a game with challenging boss fights, that's one thing XII is good for.

I liked the boss battle against the frog.

Dr. Cid- Both battles were hillarious.

Ultima- This fight was an interesting challenge with the shifting arena effects. Having to think on my feet was a big plus.

Cuchulainn- I have a love/hate relationship with this fight actually. It was easily the hardest Esper battle.

The Undying- Hands down the creepiest thing I've seen, let alone fought, in an RPG. I loved the homage to Bahamut.

Fury- I really don't know what to say about this fight. Except that I had to pause my game and stare in shock for several minutes at the beginning.

Fury: What's not to like about a mentally unstable bunny rabbit?
Quite. :D

Cuchulainn...was easily the hardest Esper battle.

Totally agree. I can imagine Zodiark also being really hard if you didn't know how to set up your characters beforehand.

The other boss battles that stick out are with Ultima and Hell Wyrm (haven't gotten to Yiazmat yet :( )

Cuchulainn wasn't too bad, but I spent forever on Zodiark. Instant death/blind special move? You can't tell me that's fair. Plus, he takes so damn long to get to, through one of (if not the) toughest areas in the game.

the fight with Gilgamesh was incredible :D

Agree, Gilgamesh was definitely one of the best!

Although my favourite would have to be Omega Mark XIII, purely because if you have the proper gambit system, you can literally put the controller down, go get some food, come back, and he's beaten!

I also really liked Hellwyrm just because the VERY FIRST TIME I went to verse him, I was like
"Oh shit I'm going to get pwnd!"
And yet, I beat him the first time! Not to say it wasn't hard, but I like him cause he's like a milestone when you realise you've grinded enough!

I found The Undying a bit of a joke to be honest...

Zodiark and Yiazmat are still two enemies I am yet to beat...
