On www.vgchartz.com you can see weekly sales charts for games, going back for years. I used this list to compile a list of rpg's that sold atleast 100,000 copies in their first week. I made one for 200,000 and one for 300,000 also. Please note that no rpg through all of 2005 sold atleast 100,000 copies in their first week, I checked!

Rpg's selling atleast 100,000 copies in their first week(17)...

Look at that last list. It seems that all young kids are getting Pokemon and Kingdom Hearts games. If you look for the more hardcore rpg players it seems that Final Fantasy XII and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess(Wii version) dominated rpg sales for the last 3.5 years!

In 2008, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is dominating all rpg's in sales, including Lost Odyssey. I don't think that Persona 3: Fes will sell super high though. Watch out for the first week sales for: Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon 2, Mass Effect(PC version), and Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures(PC Mmorpg).

For Fall 2008, watch out for high sales for Fallout 3, Fable 2, and White Knight Story. I think Fallout 3 will sell the highest and beat all rpg's in sales this year, and possibly in overall quality. What are your thoughts on this information? :)

Make no mistake, the Pokemon games aren't bought by only kids. Being 24 myself, I have purchased Diamond.

I also have the latest pokemon game and I don't think that it's just for kids. How can you say that kingdom hearts is for children? Just because it has disney characters?

Anyone who thinks the Pokemon games should be smacked. As a fan of RPGs (not in the traditional sense), I play Pokemon myself and I'm in my 20's. If I had a DS, Diamond or Pearl would most likely be the first purchase. If I get one in November, then it'll be the new KH game instead. Either way, Pokemon is a great RPG and a lot of my friends that have a DS say that Pokemon is definitely one of the best games out for it. If not, then the best period.

Oops, yea that game could sell over 100,000 copies on it's first week, Lost Odyssey did. But less people have PS 3 though, so it'll be a bit less probably, but if it has a FF XIII playable demo, it'll go over 100,000.

Also, nevermind my comments on Pokemon, they rule! :D

Since the game is on PS3 and 360, I suspect the sales to be fairly high.

I still think the next-gen Final Fantasies should go back to their roots with Nintendo and be for the Wii. I'm saying FFXIII should be a wii-exclusive, it would be nice for it to be included in the equation, since I could care more or less about the 360.

They won't for a couple reasons I doubt the Wii could handle as much as the other systems graphics wise. S-E will not change until they flop horribly, which may be soon. You never know. I think they are coming out with a crystal chronicles for the Wii. I may be mistaken though.

Yea for Wii they have Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. they also are releasing Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King, which is a city building rpg. I JUST FOUND OUT THIS IS COMING OUT ON MAY 12TH!!!!!

Yea, so I totally didn't know FF: CC: Mlaak is coming out so soon. It's developed by the way from a mixture of the FF: Crystal Chronicles team and the Front Mission(yes, Front Mission, the Square Enix tactical rpg series) team. Also Motomu Toriyama is the Scenario Director.

By the way, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon is out for Wii on July 8th, look for it also! :)

For once, you and I agree on something, Harkus, although probably for very different reasons. The game as it currently exists could not be on the Wii, certainly, but it could be scaled down to fit the console, so your point dies there.

On the other hand, most of the people creaming their pants over it are teenage idiots (all teenagers are idiots, which you'll understand when you're not one) as opposed to the Wii userbase, which is composed more of kids and mature adults than teenagers who are obsessed with having whatever's "cool."

Wouldn't you have to buy that other controller for the wii? The normal/non sensor one. I doubt they could make good use of the wii's motion sensor with an FF game tbh.

Your point being? You post like a 16 year old and I see nothing contrary to that, so my mental image of you is a typical teenage idiot. If you're not at least 13, you should gtfo. If you're actually an adult, I pity you.

Harkus, what rpg are you looking forward to this fall? I don't know if I'm as excited about this fall's games as I should be. I would like to play Fallout 3 though and White Knight Story. My main interest is going to be Starcraft 2(real-time strategy pc game), although I'm not sure if it will make it out in time for the fall.

Now that I think about it, I don't think that the age groups of people who play Pokemon and Kingdom Hearts is as young as I thought it was. I see some older people I know playing them, so they are not kid games.

What I meant was that I was under the impression that a younger age range of players play them, but it appears that the age range is similar to other games like Final Fantasy XII and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. So please retract my earlier comment! :)

Anyways, I used to own Pokemon(I think it was a red color one) and I thought it was a great game! I used to know somebody who had some other Pokemon games, they are pretty nice! Kingdom Hearts I've played but I haven't really gotten around to playing them since I've been playing other titles. I'm looking forward to Kingdom Hearts: Coded actually!

Anyways, who here plays Pokemon Diamond and Pearl? They have really high sales, and it would be nice if I could get my hands on a copy?

I've played Pearl and thought it was a good game but the previous games are a lot better.
