This game was great!! I beat this new PSP version tonight. I already had beat the PS 1 version in 1998 and it was #6 in my list of my favorite games ever, I had six games on that list. This new version is even better with all the adjustments and new features! I did some of the sidequests but not all of them. I leveled up my characters, unlocked jobs, learned abilities, and mastered some of the jobs. I beat all the main sidequests except for the one where you have to wait for the first day of the month of Cancer and need $500,000. I beat Midlight's Deep Dungeon. I beat the game and it took 83 hours for all of that. I skipped these sidequests: Melee, Rendezvous, Poaching, and Errands.

The game is phenomenal!!! I like the game a little bit more than Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings!! I liked FF XII: RW more than FF XII and FF XII more than Eternal Sonata. Those are the three rpg's I beat last year and this year I've only beaten this rpg FF Tactics. I'll beat these other rpg's this year: Alundra 1, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, and some more probably. I'm also beat the real-time strategy pc game Warcraft 3 and am now playing it's expansion pack by the way, and I'll beat the real-time strategy pc game Starcraft 2 if it comes out this year. I'm thinking about beating FF VII: Crisis Core and the new remakes for FF I-IV this year also, and possibly FF VII: Before Crisis if it comes out this year.

The game is about as close to perfect as games get!! Here are my rankings for my favorite games ever, updated...

1. Final Fantasy VI
...a gap...
2. Chrono Trigger
...a gap...
3. Final Fantasy VII
4. Final Fantasy X
5. Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
6. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

I'm thinking about possibly adding Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings just behind FF Tactics, not sure yet though, but it's likely. FF Tactics is the 3rd of the 5 games developed by the Yasumi Matsuno team. The games were: Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, and Final Fantasy XII.

Yeah. I enjoyed it. I finished it a while ago now. Did you find Balthier and Cloud? I got them, I also got Agrias' lip rouge off Mustadio. Though it was a pain getting to land on the correct date, in a town.

Cloud wasnt actually worth getting, in my opinion, but i still found his sword so he could use his limit brakes.

I actually thought the hardest boss was Wiegraf, when he turns into a Lucavi. I really struggled with that.

Though the game becomes alot easier when you get Orlando. It is almost too easy. But I still think it is a great game.

Firstly, congrats Dragonsoul!

Secondly, SC2 prolly won't see release until 2009.

Wiegraf was tough, I got Balthier and Cloud. I remember Orlando! I ended up not using any of the main characters that kept joining my party. My party was always Ramza, Cecilly, Parnell, Thrydwulf, and Ceadda. Those last 4 characters have a few lines of text each, and ended up joining the party. They may have been Agrias's fighters. I think these were great characters!

Starcraft 2 is gonna dominate everything! Except Final Fantasy XIII may be better and possibly FF Versus XIII for me. :)

I beat FFT (Original) not long after I initially got it back in 1998 (I was addicted) :D

Also @Cookie: If you use a Gameshark to shark *Non-Charge into Cloud's support slot, he will instantly use his limits with no charge time, which makes him redeemable in my eyes ;)

It's ok. Not sure where you get "best game ever" from. It's decent with a more mature story at least; none of that "friends forever" bullshit I see in too many games these days. Not to mention, Tactics trumps all of its Advance sequels by far. Some lines of text were changed to be more kid friendly or so I'm told, which irks me. Like one of my favorite lines: "Surrender or die in obscurity!" became something else laden with suck.

We called him Fuckemup Cid. And celebrated.

Did the PSP version include the Deep Dungeon?

Remember since the Ivalice Alliance, the original (and imo, perfect as it was) FFT was retconned to sync-up with Final Fantasy XII (i.e. Murond Dead City became "Necrohol of Murond"). I shudder to think how much damage was done to the game since they went all "ye olde English".

Right. Since they started giving a shit about continuity.

It's a shame since I didn't really care for FFXII.

So I wonder what the team who remade Final Fantasy Tactics is doing now. Do you think they are going to remake Vagrant Story for the PSP? I hope that they do!

I haven't played Vagrant Story myself, however if they intend on butchering it like they did to FFT: TWOL then I don't think I would applaud a remake.

It's a pretty awesome game which I haven't been able to find a copy of in years. Not that I've been looking...

I doubt they'll remake it unless they call that shit "Final Fantasy Vagrant Story". Pretty sure they chanced it with Tactics cos of the big ol' brand name attached to it.

It came out in May of 2000, 2000 was the best year ever for that generation of video games, and I think 2006 was the best year ever for the last generation of video games. It seems to be about 6 year cycles, maybe 2012 or 2013 will be the big year for the PS 3/Wii/Xbox 360 generation.

Anyways, about Vagrant Story, there were so many great games that came out in 2000. I can't remember if it was lost in the crowd or if a lot of people played it. I think both Zelda Oracle games were out around the same time.

No I don't. You gave everything about it a 10/10 which implies it's a perfect game which it is far from. It's enjoyable to an extent but it's not on my list of best games.

Are you excited about FF Tactics A2? For me FF Tactics(PSP) is a perfect game for me, but also I was taking into an account that it's a PS 1 game that was ported to the PSP. :)

Hey! FFTA2 is my favorite!(My avatar says it all.) It is more "grown up" than the first tactics advance. Plus, Adelle is my favorite character.
