Just watched the movie, and I thought it was pretty disturbing. It was tense all the way through, and definitely worth checking out. Man, it was pretty creepy. I have only read positive reviews, so check out the movie!

The picture you posted, is that the same movie as Pan's Labyrinth? It looks very different.

I've heard about the Orphanage, and I am definitely going to see it.

Na, pic i posted is from a Jim Henson (muppets) movie w/ Jennifer Connelly. Came out in the middle 80's with David Bowie as the Goblin King. Same concept in a way, just the G-PG version. One of my sisters favorites growing up,

zulu, no it's a different movie. and yeah, it's vaguely the same concept, but the movies are so different with waaaay different tones

but, yeah, pan's labyrinth is an amazing movie.

i really suggest you watch The Orphanage. that movie is incredible and it's even better when you realize it was the director's first movie. (that's what my manager said, anyway)

(also, if you like guillermo del toro movies, you should check out the devil's backbone)

guillermo del todo did not direct the orphanage, if that's what you meant (as in, you were trying to disprove my statement that the orphanage was the director's first movie)

Pan's Labyrinth is amazing, I've watched it two or three times. The civil war juxtaposed with a fairytale is pretty neat and the scene when the Captain smashes up the peasant's nose is brutal but excellent, brave film making.

pans lab really is fantastic. fantab sountrack, stunning visuals, and a very good storyline to boot. i loved the duo stories and how you can choose whichever you want to believe.

I've become pretty desensitised to movies lately (i blame all thsoe VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES) - I mean, i laughed all the way through Rambo.

But this movie, from start to finish, just hit me - I was drawn into the world that Del Toro crafted, and cared about the fate of all the characters. I've seen the movie multiple times, and the end still gets me every time - it truly is a masterpiece.

I can't wait to see what Del Toro does with the Hobbit. Peter Jackson was a good director, but there are some parts of LOTR which suffered from his directing - with him producing (ensuring the top quality WETA production values) and Del Toro directing, I think The Hobbit will be something very, very special.

Exactly what I thought.

Honestly, I didn't care for the movie that much. It was okay, but it just didn't do anything for me. I had heard it was good, but...

I love Guillermo del Toro. He's one of those directors who can make a dark, moody, atmospheric, intelligent film without making it action-oriented, and do it very well. Pan's Labyrinth is a shining example of this. It is dark, disturbing, emotional, and you walk away from the film with something. The viewer becomes attached to Ofelia throughout the film, and depending on your own perspective, you walk away with joy or sorrow for her.
Which brings me to another point:
Do you think she returns to her kingdom, or did she have an overactive imagination that stayed with her to the end? There is some evidence that it was all real, but there is enough doubt to pull away the fantasical events of the film. So what do you guys think?

That was on Film 4 the other night.
I wanted to watch it, but I couldn't.

What's it about?

matt damon

Master Nabeshin, mark your spoilers

Redbat, it's about a little girl and her pregnant mother who move into like......i wanna call it a military house, but it's not really. anyway, they move there with the mom's new husband and ofelia (the main character) finds a fairy and it leads her to a faun which tells her she is the reincarnated form of the princess of the underworld. he gives her 3 tasks to complete so that she can become the princess again.

interesting note: the movie's original title is "El labarinto (sp) del fauno" which means, "the labyrinth of the faun." the movie has no relation and does not involve Pan at all, but the translators decided to rename the movie with Pan's name in it, so that the english speaking audiences could associate it with something they were familiar with, and so that it would draw them to the movie.

I really hate it when people try to determine what an audience will feel based on their own experience. I di not become attached to Ofelia. I thought she was an annoying cunt of a girl who only got progressively more annoying and I laughed at the end.

The movie itself was pretty psychological in every way. It was very thought provoking just seeing how these two worlds collided, one in reality and another one in a mystical trial-based fantasy. Pretty intriguing.

Pan's Labyrinth is really something that only seeing is believing. Had me hooked from start to finish. And her father is a such a bastard.

And her father is a such a bastard.

Yes, quite the father figure.
