Yeah, same as the other poll but the opposite.

For me, Black Mage, hands down. Normally Black Magic is cool but in this game it was pretty lame in how limited that dressphere was and how for the majority of the time mastering it you're forced to use MP and can't attack. At least the White Mage could Pray. Besides, what kind of Black Mage doesn't learn Flare or Ultima? That seemed to be only available via GG's. IIRC every single technique from this dressphere was elemental.

The thief class sucked big time, the black mage was limited but it could still do some damage.

Slavka

Yeah, but at a high level thieves could do serious damage, seeing as they hit twice. IMO, Black Mages were the worst, because it took forever for them to learn abilities, and if you ran out of MP they were worthless.

Black Mages + haste and Ragnarok = win. Try it some time.

Early in the game, at lower levels, Thieves are physically weak. But later in the game they make up for it with good Strength and well equipped. High Evasion and Agility makes them pretty damn good to have.

No Dress Sphere is actually useless, but I tend to use Alchemist the least. Sometimes I just use one at the start of battles for a Mix, and then switch to a different Sphere.

I agree with Neo, I tended to use the Songstress alittle less though. It wasn't my favorite one. Sadly..

I agree with Princess who agrees with Neo. Songstress is kinda useless when I play. They dance and sing for awhile then it's over. A waste of one character.

I didn't find the gunner extremely useful, but it wasn't too bad. I would say alchemist was my least favorite.

I rarely used the songstress, for the same reasons metioned. In order for it to "pay" for itself, it would have to increase the fighting abilities or whatever of the other two characters by 50%, and I don't think it manages that.

Trainer was pretty useless.

But I would disagree about gunner. TriggerHappy (is that what is called?) was great.

Someone obviously never has tried Gunner + Cat Nip.

On a whole they are best compared with thieves really, high speed and and decent evasion but low damage output. But I still find them rather usefull, or atleast a few good abilities.

I acquired catnip and equipped it to my gunner when I was just trying to teach her abilities, but I prefer to use magic based attacks.

My least favourite dressphere would probably have to be Songstress. I just found the overall concept a bit lame and an excuse to throw status effect casting into the game.

My favourite is Beserker though hehe :)

I never used Samurai or Gun Mage.

I tried to use Trainer and Mascot, but by the time I actually acquired them, my characters were so buffed up that I didn't need any of those spheres' abilities, so they're pretty worthless, too.

I didn't use the Berserker dressphere very much at all, prob. b/c I thought the Dark Knight was better at dealing heavy damage. I also didn't use the Trainer, but my vote would have to go to the 'Ultimate Dresspheres' (the ones you had to activate all the slots on the garment grid to access) for most useless. They were cheap and a waste of my time.

Both Berserker and Dark Knight are excelent at dealing damage. Dark Knigt is better at dealing damage to several targets at the same time, where as Berserker is more single target combat. Berserker is considerably faster then Dark Knight. Evade & Attack and the various counters make me love Berserker a whole lote more than the Dark Knight.

Berserker totally lacks any defense against magic however.

IMO, the Songstress dressphere can burn in hell for its uselessness, as can the Trainer Dressphere. Alchemist and Berserker FTW.

In terms of design my least favorite is Lady Luck as it looks so very, very cheap. In terms of actual usefulness my least favorite is the Songstress. I never had reason to use it.

Gunner - I liked the idea of guns, but I never had a use for this dressphere.

Black Mage - I hated this dressphere. It took too damn long to cast spells even after you had learned both Black Magic Levels, because for some reason the spells (as long as other abilities) seemed very delayed in this game.

Trainer (Yuna and Rikku) - These stupid animals ran slow, took the longest path to the enemy, and didn't do very much damage. Paine's bird, Flurry, was actually useful; it had good abilities (HP Flurry, Recovery Flurry, Flurry Speed, and Flurry Guard) and it could fly over everything to get to the enemy to attack. Despite these few benefits, I didn't like this dressphere.

I would have to say Lady Luck. However I have to agree with Erebus on the songstress.

I found, like many others, the Songstress to be the most useless. I felt bad that all of the other dress spheres were being used except for that one. I wish LeBlanc could've kept it... I wouldn't mind.

I agree with the general sentiment that Black Mage was sucky-- Black Magic just wasn't very useful in this game. non-canon, you'll have to expalain for those of us who don't have International and Last Mission exactly what was so lame about Festival-Goer.

non-canon sousaphone
11-12-2009, 07:34 AM
Well, Festival-Goer is Trainer-esque, with a few odd things going on.

Yuna is an offensive spellcaster, but her "toss a clog at the target" spells are unreliable since the effect is a tad random (The Fire one will cast one of the fire black mage spells at random at the target and might cast Firaga at two enemies.). Sure, you might get Ultima, might being the key word.

Rikku is an elemental based physical attacker, in lieu of Swordplay, but they hit three times at random.

Paine is an aliment based physical attacker, like Wakka. So yeah...

So there you have it, Festival-Gore. You get it way early in the game though, so it could be useful as a stand-in.

You obviously never mastered the Pause / Random Reels / all 777 trick. And I consider Lady Luck worth its weight just for double EXP. No, sorry, but that one had a lot of useful abilities.

black mage there no flare, meteo and ultima that suck mastering is really long
special dress strong but it very weak in defense
dark knight very slow even you use haste still slow
alchemist more better than white mage but when you get magic damage that terrible

the strongest and dependable is gun mage(can use ultima weapon skill), and samurai(can kill enemy even he use hero drink/invincible status)

Yes! All of this exactly. Couldn't agree more - and instead, Lady Luck gets these abilities, which is lame for so many reasons.
