Kimahri is actaully quite excelent. In my opinion, he has the best Celestial weapon tied for first with Auron (though Auron's is far far easier to obtain and complete..), his starting position isn't ideal, but nothing a few Friend Spheres can't fix.

Yeah I played it once, beat it the same week I got and never looked back. I hold much fonder memories of FF's past such as IV-VI, but that's me and probably most of the older shriners around her :D

Strangely enough, I did replay X-2 a lot, mainly to unlock all of the dossiers and hidden content.

Kimari is the jak of all trades for the game, so he's pretty much a crapshoot depended on how you raise him. He only sucks cause you raised him incorrectly.

mico
04-03-2008, 05:24 AM
The first time I played, I lvled up like mad on the highbridge (where u don't have kimahri) so he was pretty much useless after that.
The second time I played, I turned him into a healer, which helped a lot, because you can cast curative and protective spells.
I just wish there weren't those locks...

Harkus

At the moment he can cast white magic, black magic and steal lol. The only thing that's good about him is his overdrive.

I used him to obtain an ability for his overdrive. And yet the only time where I had him on the battlefield for more than 5 seconds was when I fought Biran and Yenke. It took me a loooong time because he was so weak. I mean 544 was his highest attack power.

I'm going to actually have to take it back. He doesn't suck, he's definately not great but he's not bad either. I've been playing X loads and he's getting pretty good. He still can't do damage like tidus, auron or even wakka can but still he's no pushover.

the kimahri that im useing at the moment is ok, i made him follow some of lulu's path and got up to the -ara's and then made him go back to rikku's so he could steal, then used a friend sphere and put him at the part on aurons path when there is a lot of att +4's. so his att is about 45 so he dosnt completely suck. and when its needed he can use a somewhat weaker magic att than lulu.

I didn't use Kimhari very much, either. He did kind of suck. I remember I tried to get all the things for his final weapon, and I missed the one that was on the mountain and couldn't go back to get it. After that, I abandoned him completely.

Master Nabeshin

Any character can rock or suck depending on your use of the sphere grid. The grid was designed to give the player more control (after reaching a certain point), so you really can't blame it. I just started a new game out of boredom this week, and right now Kimhari is surprisingly one of my better characters because I've finally been able to use his location on the sphere grid to my advantage.

I pretty much never used Kimahri in my party, though I did take the time to get all of his overdrive attacks...even the one you get from omega weapon.

Just, because I didn't use him doesn't mean he sucks...as a matter of fact, he's the most flexible of the characters in that you can develop him however you want very early in the game.

Woah, woah, woah. Hold it there. -.- I don't even use Kimhari...Tidus, Auron, and Wakka are my three favorite characters. Especially Wakka's overdrive. All of my characters except for Lulu and Kimhari can hit 99,999. I practically fought every fiend and won in the monster arena except for 2.

Kimari is by far the most flexible character since after his sphere grid you can turn him into what you want eg powerhouse with aurons theif with rikkus quick guy with tidus and even black mage with lulu's.

I always seem to turn him into a reckless powerhouse though.

I liked Kimahri when it came to his character and the way he is but for battles I didn't quite like him. Sure one may teleport him to another grid and develop him there but if you develop him on his grid he doesn't seems to get any good. I also found his overdrive options a bit poor (specially since it depends on using Lancent to learn abilities) and with the exception of self-destruct, useless in boss fights.

He seems to be the jack of all trades of the group. Reminds me of Gau from FF VI.

No, not at all. It wasn't my first playthrough of the game, I was pretty familiar with the sphere grid. I found him to be a weak character because his starting point was a very bad one and it always seems to lead me making him a weak magic user and weak physical attacker. For the last boss Auron was taking off around 7,000 and Kimhari was taking off around 800 so I'm not saying that Tidus, Auron and Wakka attack as they were all dealing heavy damage.

It's true that Kimahri's starting sphere grid is complete rubbish, but that doesn't necessairly make him a rubbish character.

If you'd just have him do Auron's sphere grid he'd take off 7k aswell.

I don't use him in the storyline, because he is quite useless to me. Okay the Lancet Skills are sometimes quite nice and you can teach him 'Steal' early on, on the prof. Sphere Grid but that's it. Thing is, Kimahri is a cool character, problem is his stats are unfairly low, unlike his physique.
He's a big guy, yet he hits the weakest?
Is the blade on his spear really that dull?
Also, since he can learn enemy attacks, it kinda sucks that the damage done is minimal and the status ailment attacks hardly ever work.
In short, Kimahri is a cool dude who has undeserved crappy stats.

The problem with Rikku was that her stats weren't great at 1st, but once you pump her up and learn most of the more useful mixes, she's truly a force to be reckoned with.
Besides, mixing adds more fun to using her.

I still feel Kimahri was done a grave injustice for being given a waek status for someone who looks like a powerhouse.

FF X is my most commonly played FF (probably because it was my first) and of all the times i've replayed I can say i'm bi-polar when it comes to Kimahri. Sometimes he's my best character, sometimes he's good but I really have to work on him and put a lot of effort into him, and sometimes he just sucks so bad I give up all together. Its how you use him at the very beginning that does it all.
