<font color=red face="comic sans ms">You obviously mean Ozma. This is by far the hardest boss in the game, and so you should go into the battle prepared. Give everyone armour or other equipment that can guard against or absorb Shadow attacks. Equip all characters with Antibody, Clear Headed and Bright Eyes. Also give each character Auto-Haste and Auto-Regen. If your characters haven't learnt these abilities yet, I would suggest learning them before you attempt to fight Ozma.

Suggested party: Zidane, Steiner, Quina, Dagger.

Ozma's attack list:
Death (kills one character)
Flare (hits one or all characters, non-elemental attack)
Holy (hits one character)
L4 Holy (hits all characters with a level multiple of 4)
L5 Death (kills all characters with a level multiple of 5)
Flare Star (hits all characters)
Curse (hits all, causes Mini, Confuse, Darkness and Poison as well as 4000+ HP damage)
Meteor (hits all)
Doomsday (hits all characters in battle, including Ozma himself. Shadow elemental attack)
Berserk (hits one character. Used as a counterattack)
Curaga (heals himself. Can be a counterattack)

Meteor is his most devestating attack, on a bad day this may wipe out your entire party for 9999HP damage each. Every character should have at least 5000HP before going into this battle to be able to survive most of his attacks; and try not to have anyone with a level at a multiple of 5.

If you haven't equipped Auto-Life before this battle, get Quina to cast it on all characters. With the abilities that I mentioned equipped, Curse should only cause Mini; and this can be healed if Dagger casts Mini on the entire party, or Quina can use Angel Snack (but this will use up 4 Remedies.)

If you use any character's special moves e.g. Steiner's Shock, Ozma will counterattack by Berserking that character, so they will only be able to attack physically. Throughout this battle, Zidane and Steiner should be attacking physically. You can steal some good items (Pumice Piece, Dark Matter, Robe of Lords, Elixir), but it may be better just to fight the battle quickly. He drops a Pumice and a Dark Matter after battle anyway.

Doomsday will not be a problem; in fact, it may help you. If everyone is protected against Shadow magic you won't take damage and you may even absorb the attack; and Ozma himself isn't protected from Shadow attacks, so he will take about 5000HP damage by using this move.

Flare Star's damage is based on your character's current levels. It does 50x the current level in damage. So, for example, if you are level 1 it will do 50HP damage, if you are level 2 it will cause 100HP damage, etc. This is different to Trance Kuja's Flare Star, which only does 35x the character's current level.

Even with Auto-Haste equipped, you will probably only get 2-3 of your characters to attack in between his moves. However, the animation for most of his attacks will take a long time, so you don't really need to heal your characters much; the Auto-Regen should be sufficient.

Anyway, as long as he doesn't use Meteor, you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Shell should be able to absorb 50% of this attack, so use Quina's Mighty Guard. This will run out pretty quick with your Haste magic, but it will be very useful.

Good luck. :D

Just for another hidden boss thats optional (even though not asked for):

Tantarian in the Alexandrian Library who is also quite tricky.

HP: 21.997
AP: 30
Weak Vs: Holy
Steal Items: Demon's Mail, Silver Fork, Elixir, Ether
Spoils: Running Shoes

This optional battle is also available when attempting to rescue Dagger before the Red Rose arrives. However, this fight is much easier to win at this point in the game with this party.
Equip Amarant and Freya with items from which they haven't learned the abilities from yet, since winning this battle will instantly bring their abilities up to snuff.
Make sure you equip everyone with Antibody and some form of HP regeneration, such as Auto-Regen or Auto-Potion. Equip Amarant with the Poison Knuckles, and make sure that Freya knows or is capable of using the Lancer ability. Also, make sure Zidane is equipped with the Bandit ability. Tantarian has some really awesome items to snatch.
Tantarian first appears as a giant floating book, but the real monster is inside. While in book form, the Tantarian can perform devastating attacks that will take a nice chunck out of your party's hit points. However, since the monster inside doesn't have the same abilities, it's important to get that book open!
There's a good chance that Amarant's Spare Change ability will open the book instantly. If he throws 200 Gil or less, then you're all set. This causes the book to open, and when it does you'll get to fight the monster inside. However, Amarant might throw more than 200 Gil, so be prepared to open the book another way.
Start off with physical attacks only. Each time a character strikes the book, it opens to a certain page. You must strike the book for just the right amount of HP, so that the book opens up somewhere between pages 150-200. If you cause more than 200 HP of damage, then the page opening process starts over.
To avoid going over the correct amount of HP, command each character to strike, and then wait for them to execute their attack before letting the next character perform. Zidane and Amarant will cause the most damage, so have Freya protect the group by casting Reis's Wind.
When the book finally opens, it's important not to strike the book again physically. This means that you must use only magic and skills to attack. The monster will only defend itself with the Poison spell, so if everyone is equipped with Antibody, you'll be fine. Each round, have Zidane perform Thievery while Freya performs Lancer. Amarant should perform Spare Change, but Vivi can cast Bio over and over. If Zidane Trances, have him perform Grand Lethal two or three times to speed things up.
If the book closes again, you must get it back open as soon as possible. If not, it will perform Paper Storm or Edge on every turn until your party is dead. The book may close again briefly, even if you don't strike it physically. Don't let this throw you, as it's just trying to confuse you. Use another physical attack to open up the book. The Tantarian grants 3146 EXP to all party members, plus 4472 Gil.

Thank God for PlayOnline

regarding what turdz said, find youself some Protect Rings (elemental mag reduced by 50%)

what i recommend is to have zidane use The Ogre (i think this one has Darkness elemental status)
hit Ozma normally to inflict darkness status on him
and he will waste his time using esuna.

Anyway yes, hades isn't that hard to beat. He is found in the water area in Memoria where Quina is trying to swim; just go right in this area and you will eventually find him. :)
