Hello. Well, to be honest, I started as a nintendo fan, still am and always will be, but I really love final fantasy. I remeber haveing final fantasy VII as a little kid, but man, I had no idea what I was doing. I really want to get it again now that I can understand it, but was thinking either final fantasy VII or should I get final fantasy X? I really like both of them but I'm just not sure which one I should look for first. You guys have suggestions? or any other ff games? Thanks in advance. :D

IX, forever and always.

Or, if you must get either of the two you said, X.

Or make your own decision, we're all going to tell you a dozen different things anyway unless you tell us more about what you like in a game. Final Fantasy VII was for the original Playstation and also for PC. It is the most talked-about Final Fantasy game and featured much to love, but was bogged down some nonsensical plot points and graphics that many considered subpar. Final Fantasy X was for Playstation 2. It featured fantastic graphics and a story that many remain fond of today. It also has a direct sequel that received extremely mixed reactions. On the negative side, it has been described by some as "painfully linear," and many people do not enjoy its "turn-based" battle system, Conditional Time Battle.

X, mainly because you can still get it with relative ease, for under $20, to boot.

I'm not getting into a messy discussion of merits, or lack thereof. Period ;)

Out of those two I would definitely get X but otherwise I would go for XII.

try to start with the early ones, that way you can get a good feeling about the series, its always fun to see a series progress over the years.

either way you will be impressed.

happy gaming ^_^

thanks a bunch guys, I really enjoy these games, so I'm going to start collecting. I've heard good things about IX so looks like that one is near the top of my list. Thanks again! :D

Indeed X is much handier to get. You should play them both eventually but for handiness sake id get X first.

You can easily find a "brand new" copy of Final Fantasy VII on ebay for 15-20 pounds. Just wanted to point that out.

I'll say, IX is a pain in the ass to find these days.

Out of interest, Frizy231, have you considered playing the Nintendo FF games (ie I-VI)? Since you started by saying you were a Nintendo fan, I would have thought those would have been a more logical choice then the Playstation ones.

That is true, but I would rather have them for the playstation since that is the system they started on, though I do own a copy of FF III for my DS, and almost got it for the SNES. And i'm more intrested in getting the nwer Generations. I'm focused on VII and up, but I guess I'm should start from the bottom and build.

You say there is a site that would make my search easier? Sounds intresting, if you wouldn't mind, I would like to check it out. Thanks.

Oh man, I just cannot stop laughing at this.

How, pray tell, do you figure they started on PS when I-VI were all on Nintendo consoles?

Perhaps she was confused by the portable releases? That's the only thing I can think of, other than just being plain mistaken.

It's funny regardless of the reason.

no, I mean Ff VII and X. I want to get everything VII and up, those are not on Nintendo systems. sorry for not clearifying that.
It is a wierd reason to want to collect them on the playstation, but the main reason is just for, like I said, VII and up.

And I'm not a she, I am a he...

Thank you. :) As most of you learned in this thread, I'm a noob. Thank you for putting into words I meant to use. Sorry for this thread of nonsense, and thanks again for the suggestions. ;)

We really should get one sticky thread for n00bs to the series where a brief, non-POV run-down of each game is given. This subject has been coming up a lot lately, so it will save people from having to discuss the same thing so frequently.

You started playing a Nintendo system for the first time? Lol you started late but that's okay ^^.

Anyways as for suggestions, I would also go with Agents suggestion with IX.

Or any of the old FFs. As for the no PS ones, II for the GBA is very easy too.

Thanks, Looks like IX is at the top of the list. And just for the record, I have been playing Nintendo since I was 4. :p Thanks again.
