I think unless you already know these albums they might be what you are looking for.

First off Silent Hill has some great tracks, Danny Elfman has some dark erie sounds.

Castlevania Special CD, Some Dragon Quest Tracks, Killer Instinct SabreWolf track

hmm Chronicles of the Dark Moon is another album.

don't know if you're still looking, but Marco Beltrami usually has some twisted scary scores : the Scream trilogy, Mimic and The Omen (remake) are the first that come to mind. Christopher Young's Hellraiser and Hellraiser II scores are guaranteed piss-you-pants scary scores. Trent Reznor's QUake soundtrack is great. Finally some of the tracks David Lynch scored for Inland Empire and his co-written tracks with Angelo Badalamenti on Muholland Dr. soundtracks are pretty dark.

I'm going to add to this list. Perhaps others will come here as I did and discover something new to them.

John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness

Children of the Corn by Jonathan Elias*
*This one may not be as easy to find nowadays. I used to have a crappy cassette recording of it, and it was nearly 30 years before I could get this on CD - and even then it was from a run of only 1,000. So, if it is still out of print, PM me and I would be happy to share.

Specific tracks from KOYAANISQATSI by Philip Glass.
01-Koyaanisqatsi and 08-Prophecies. Prophecies includes a reprise of the title track (vocals kick-in just before the 3 min point). Take a listen on You Tube. Of course, I recommend the highest quality sound you can get. Start 01 in the dark, if possible. Take a walk around your city with those two tracks queued up on headphones...the world will not look the same. People will not look the same.

Some non-Soundtrack music that has often been considered (and which I have enjoyed too): Nox Arcana or Midnight Syndicate. Sometimes Midnight Syndicate will have a spooky voice-over at the start of a cue - but not all the time. So if you hear one like that and it bothers you, don't worry - those are few and far between.
