I have to say, some of the new design decisions seem kind of odd. It's too soon to really tell what the game is going to be like but from what little information has been released the game doesn't seem to star a Valkyrie nor use a profile perspective...

I had a fairly sizable post typed up here and just lost it so, summary:

-I expect this to be sort of a side-story of the main series and think they did it differently (ie no Valkyrie character/profile) because I think they will probably put out a Valkyrie Profile 3: Hrist. Since they changed the name of the original VP to VP: Lenneth in the PSP port.

-I would prefer side scrolling and a more traditional VP game, but I guess I"ll wait til the game comes out to judge. Someone in the comments of the link you gave mentioned it might be a strategy game -- I hope not cos I don't really care for strat games :(

-Happy its out for the DS. Was disappointed, though not surprised, when two of my favorite games (VP and Star Ocean) were ported to PSP. I don't have any interest in the PSP outside of those games so not worth it for me to buy that handheld. I do have a DS because I enjoy it and a lot of games that are on it. This is just icing on the cake

Yeah, I can't really think of a isometric RPG for the DS that wasn't a stratagy game so that's what I'm expecting as well. They could still implement the profile perspective battles in the style of Super Robot Wars/Namco X Capcom but I can't really think of a way for them to integrate platforming elements at all. I hope they at least try to throw in some gameplay elements from the first two though, since I'll probably give it a miss if it's just your average strategy RPG or (shudder) real time stratagy RPG. VP's world is neat and all but it was the gameplay that really made it stand out.

Square Enix certainly likes their FMV trailers that tell us absolutely nothing about the game.

one thing about this game i heard that the guy is supposed to be the Son of Lucian and Mother To Lenneth something about Freya not wanting a Half God in Vahalla ( which is odd cuz Odin was Half Elf or God but i guess no one knew except Lezard.) anyway i dont belelive this rumor i jus put it here as a hint to waht might be going on :www.triAceFanboy.com
Aside from that this game should remain its traditional ways and im hoping its not a freakin Strategy Game.

@cassie why'd they make a Valkyrie Profile: Hrist if she featured in both VP 1&2 and told some of her story? if they make this they should talk about the events on wat happend b4 Lenneth took her job because of the Scene from VP where Lenneth goes back in time a Barbosa gets his head chopped, oh but wait silmeria showed up and screamed...

Because there are 3 goddesses/valkyries of destiny, past, present, and future. I'm not saying its for certain, but based on the fact that the two main titles are VP: Lenneth and VP: Silmeria, it'd make sense to me for them to throw out a VP: Hrist. What it would be about/where it would take place in the timeline, I don't know. But I think it seems pretty logically. I'd be more surprised if they didn't, especially at this point since they are putting out a off-shoot to the series.

my question is if they make a Hrist Story will it be good? also on someone's opinion which VP is better the Lenneth story or Silmeria's also which has the better battle system

I really enjoyed both battle systems in the games. VP:L was a bit easier to zone out in, and easy to get over powered in. If you didn't feel like screwing around, you could just mash buttons and be fine, generally, so long as you were at the right level. Full group 50% heals are nice too.

VP2 had a really enjoyable battle system. It was easy to pick up without being simplified, required a bit of strategy, and made what could've been really boring, endless grinding a lot more tolerable. I didn't care for the equipment, "crafting", and skill systems in VP2 as much, and while that isn't the battle system, its still connected to it. They weren't awful, though.

VP2 required a lot more attention to battles than VP:L. And it required a lot more leveling which went slower. I like games where I can go through the main story line areas and do all the fights, and end up at the level I should be at for the next area. Hell, I even did the side dungeons, and I still felt like I was significantly under leveled at certain boss fights.

So no real favorite, I guess, each was better under certain circumstances. I can't even choose a favorite "photon" system. Both were really well done, and made the dungeons a lot more fun to play as well.

Well then i must get VP2 i saw a battle on youtube when somone was fighting Lezard and while they were fighting the player made the whole 4 party jump to a location jus to atk that jus thru me off (im like is this a VP game or wat) but overall i like the Ougi's or Special moves they do nice effects. Also i heard that the Hevay Knights or somthin like that is overpowered in that game im just wondering if thats tru

I played VP ages and ages and ages ago....But unfortunately I didn't really give it the chance to grow on me.

Now I am starting to wish I had.
