I have Legend of the Four Gods volume 1 and The Sun Also Rises by Hiaishi if you are interested I can rapidshre them. Those 2 are in VBR and i have Honoo no Alpen Rose in 128 kbps.

How gratifying it is to hear that there are people who can embrace Joe Hisaishi's creative reworking of his classic score without screaming blasphemy. Miyazaki himself gave the seal of approval to this rescore, and it's not hard to see why. If anything, it's one of the many highlights of the grossly underrated Disney redub. It may not be the dub that purists were asking for, but it's most definitely NOT a bad dub. Sure, it has its weak points (the leads are perhaps a little TOO mature and the script is chattier than it needs to be), but it also has its positives (the rest of the cast kicks butt, plus the rescore).

Unfortunately, some albums like Princess Mononoke OST seems to be transcoded from 128kbps rips (sound frequencies never rising above 16kHz, seen in cool edit pro). :( However, the posters should still be thanked for spending the time to sort and upload all of the albums. :)

I confirm what (Sly) said about the signal bandwidth (BW) of the sound contained in mp3 files with different bit rate. The less information used to reconstruct the sound (low bit rate) the low the BW of sound signal is. And this is an objective and reliable method to identify the sound.
I would say: use some Spectrum Analysis tool (for example Sony Sound Forge 8.0 has it) and check the spectrum bandwidth.
�for 128kbps MP3 in most cases� it is between15 kHz - 16kHz, around 15.3,
�for 192kbps MP3 in most cases� it is 18kHz � 19 kHz, around 18.7 kHz,
�for an original 320kbps MP3 (BW) should be 20kHz or higher�
So, if your mp3 @320 has not an 20 kHz BW it is fake.
The same way you can identify the radio source also. For example an FM radio broadcast has a signal spectrum BW around 16 kHz.

I'm sorry to go off topic even further here, but in an attempt to defend the poster's rips...
Umm, NO.
LAME does a lowpass filter at all bitrates - it's a variable filter. Meaning it will snip off those frequencies, except under exceptional circumstances where it will allow them through if they are deemed particularly important at the time. It does this to devote more bitrate to the lower frequencies (those more within the human hearing spectrum) when it is deemed that there would be a greater loss in encoding the higher frequencies (which consume more bitrate and are to all intents and purposes not audible) than it would to scrap them and concentrate on the rest of the spectrum.
At -V0, LAME by default (3.97) lowpasses *some* frequencies above 16000hz, because they just don't do much, and lowpasses almost entirely the rest away at 19000hz.
Even at -b 320 (insane) all bets are off past 20khz, and some lowpassing at 19khz and above.
GRANTED... The poster's MP3 (which does *not* sound like a 128kbps rip - put your spectral filters and frequency analysers away and use your EARS) lowpasses almost entirely at 16khz, but there *are* the occasional frequencies above that when the music calls for it.
Who knows what encoder he's using. EncSpot says it might be fhG, but it doesn't sound like that either.
Either way...
a) Lowpassing at 16khz or anywhere else is *no* guarantee of a fake rip originating at 128kbps. It could be software-induced, or it could simply be that the encoder made a conscious desicion to lowpass (as I sometimes do) to pass back some surplus into the bit reservoir where it is more clearly needed.
b) When LAME is encoding at 128kbps, UNLESS YOU TELL IT OTHERWISE, it will do a 95% lowpass at 16khz, and completely sweep away the rest above 17500.
Granted, the guy isn't using LAME. He really should be.
But please, stop using simplistic, baseless techniques to decide whether or not the poster's rip is fake. He's telling us it comes straight off the CD. Why lie?
More likely, he's got a crap encoder.
Don't even get me started on radio. Just because there's a damn lowpass doesn't mean it's FM radio. There are more reliable methods - like listening for interference, high frequency whine, the pilot signal, etc, etc... Forget about your filters!

Good point. It's not a *bad* dub, in the sense of how it could have been. But the fact remains that it is a dub that compromises the artistic vision of the film (by its own admission) in an attempt to spoon-feed an American audience (Disney think you're a bunch of idiots - don't you find that offensive?) who would get jumpy if more than a few seconds went past without some loud, emotional-signposting ("YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO FEEL HAPPY HERE!!!") music smashing you over the head... An audience who would completely not understand the plot unless buckets of extra ("My Father!") superfluous, patronising dialogue was added in, not to mention "easy" pronunciations ("Oh, Part-Zoo!") that drive you absolutely mad... It's not as bad as the Oh My Goddess dub, in which the original version said "Keichii, come and have a beer!" and the dub said, "Yo, Keichii dude! Get your butt over here and have a brewski!" - but you get my meaning.
I'm grossly anti-dub for not-entirely connected reasons - I hate dubs because they take you away from the film even further. The best way to experience it is to fluently understand Japanese. Assuming you don't, subtitles are the next best thing. Dubs are great if you're lazy, or if you've lost your glasses and you can't read the subtitles, but they're terrible if you want to truly appreciate the aesthetics of a motion picture. The masterpieces of Miyazaki do not deserve this kind of treatment.
Still, a dub can hold the film in a certain amount of respect. Disney's doesn't - once again, it's that old "We know everything - we're Disney" attitude coming along and crushing the efforts of one of the most skilled filmmakers - and filmmaking teams - the world has ever seen.
THAT SAID - I like the new score (please stop calling it the American score - it's not an American score. If it were, it would alternate between pop songs and crass Hans Zimmer power anthems the whole way through. It's a new score composed for the English dub.)
In the film, I think it's hideous, because so many moments in the Japanese original version, which play out with so much calm and beauty, and REALISM - now play like a film, and I don't like being told what to feel. I'll decide that for myself. The sparse scoring of the original version was spotless and made the moments where music did take the foreground, all the more special. Music can't effect you in the same way when it is playing almost all the time. That kind of technique may work for Disney films, but it doesn't work for Miyazaki's - filmed, impressionistic poetry.
I prefer to think of the new score as a new symphonic suite - beautifully performed and luminously recorded. It doesn't belong in the film - but it's great music.

And I certainly don't believe that the new dub compromises much of anything (other than adding in extra dialogue, which I personally don't find offensive--whatever lines some may have found patronizing didn't really bother me in the least; I felt that they added to the characters). Plus, I feel that this anti-dub sentiment is overrated and pointless. Miyazaki was fine with the dubs, and he doesn't think they ruin his work. And I don't think Disney believes that its viewers are stupid, nor do I think they are crushing Miyazaki by any means. You may be anti-dub, but I'm not.

As i said on that post, all those links were sent to me by a friend on email. I contact him and he said that the links were collected from different sources over the internet, and he doesn't remember from what forum that link was taken.
Have you tried the rapidshare links and the others links from the same Studio Ghibli Songs album, and see if they request a password?

So, ummm, when I do the same with that link I get redirected to some google search links and I think the first one is the one the link was intended to be (with all the spaces taken out of k h i n s i d e r . c o m). But this page only lets you download the songs as ringtones it seems. And when I tried downloading it said that the ring tones are not available now.
Usually I refuse to share Ghibli assorted music in a thread like this (since not all Ghlibi music is by Joe Hisaishi), but since people are looking for the music box music and I have them sitting here right on my table. Here are 3 of them... I have the CD's for two of these and one of them I have no idea where I got it from. These should satisfy your music box needs.

Oh I remember the first track got the instrument of ER HU (originated from China)
the whole album sounds quite different than the Orchestra Version, its more ASIA with variety of instrument :)

What you're looking for is the Mononoke Hime Image album. The first song Ashitaka Sekki is the one with Erhu (which works amazingly well in this song) and the drum in the background. The third song uses Erhu as well.
I recommend listening to the image album! It contains some songs that are not in the OST such as Yakkuru (such a fun song to play).
