I'm not sure if this is the correct place on the forum to post this or even if it should be on here at all but I was sad to hear of the death of Gary Gygax yesterday. As someone growing up in the Eighties I remember when we first heard of this game called Dungeons and Dragons and being a child raised on Tolkein and C S Lewis was instantly hooked. Hours were spent after school playing, painting figures or just pouring through the monster manual looking at the pictures and strategising how to beat them should they ever appear in a dungeon. This in turn led to a lifetime love of tabletop game and eventually on to computers via games like Dungeon Master and Ultima before getting muddled with my other loves of Samurais and Giant Robots which has made me the JRPG fan that I am today.

Not much of a discussion piece I know but I just wanted to put something down as a thank you to man who for me started it all.

I thank him for the many foolish hours my friends and I got to be total assholes and assclowns in a fantasy setting. Good times.

I was very sad to learn of this. If he never made D&D..... oh how different my high school life would have been.
