Phew! I've just spent the best part of 2 hours fighting Omega Weapon. It's the first time I've ever attempted it, and just wanted to let everyone know it's the most tedious battle I've done in a Final Fantasy game.

How? How strong were you? When I found him, I beat him with two regular attacks. The hardest part of that battle is getting through those damn Malboros.

Are you talking about Omega or Omega Gold?

Omega Gold is indeed tedious but should only take a few minutes. Omega should only take a few seconds. Celestial Weapons, booyaka :p

Basically, I agree with you, but it doesn't have take that long by a long shot.

The Omega I fought had 1,000,000 HP, and silly me didn't have any of the celestial weapons yet. I felt I'd made a significant accomplishment though, when it was finally over.

You're kidding right? It didn't take me longer than 5 minutes or so to kill that thing and that was wayyyy back in the day, the first and last time I ever played FFX. And even then it wasn't like I had all of the celestial weapons or any of that good stuff, in fact my levels were quite modest compared to my levels in FFVI. In all honsety most aspects of the game's final bosses are all jokes, Ultima and Omega pale in comparison to their V, VI, VII & VIII counterparts.

Agreed with Gin about that. Unfortunately I don't think they were there to really be the "superbosses" of X like they were for other games. The REAL superbosses of X are all the monsters created in the arena. Ultima and Omega in X are pure homage and I think they purposely didn't make them super-hard because, the real challenge is getting to them.

But, anyway, there isn't really any ultimate sort of reward for defeating them, no weapon, no aeon, no item, not even a key item to sit in your inventory like for Nemesis. The only real reward for getting there is Kimahri's Nova skill. And if you kill Omega without learning Nova, I'd say you wasted the purpose of the sidequest.

For real though they may not be hard to beat but they are a bitch to reach. Kinda like Omega Mark XII in FFXII.

seriously that should have been less then a minute battle. It's really not all that hard as you made it to be.

I beat it with a frying pan that Yang's wife gave me...

I've done some checking, the Omega Weapon in the international release has 10 times the HP than the original. That's 1 million HP, and my characters didn't have break damage limit.
