I am honestly surprise as to why I haven't seen lossless uploads of this. It truly is a better experience, some files are near 1K Kbps!

Thanks huelen10 for the download links. Someone provided a link to a torrent for the lossless platinum edition but it's always good to have the download links. You think that they're going to stay up this time?

how does one play these files?

You could try either foobar 2000 or VLC media player, both natively play FLAC.

If you want you could also download the FLAC codec at Sourceforge.net and decode the FLAC files back into their original WAV format then download Exact Audio Copy and burn them to CD. It's interesting music to be listening to in the car. :)

i have a FLAC plug-in for winamp and it doesnt work. but, when i inspect the files, it says they are .m4a. my MPC can play .m4a, but they wont for these, neither does the current version of winamp. I get "the file cant be decoded" when i try certain players... sure these files arent corrupted?

Big thanks for the up, it sounds great!

If you love Winamp (as I do), you are going to want to install this: http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/150126/reviews so that it can play these files. Its the ALAC codec BTW.

A Question for any smart audio person out there, if i were to open these in Adobe Audition as Apple Lossless (which is done through a plugin) and i save them out as a FLAC, would it keep the same 100% quality, i'm guessing it would, but i was wondering if it would alter the sound in any way, and if i can do this, i will download this Mario Galaxy & convert to FLAC & upload for everyone who wants it in normal FLAC

oh and thank u for that Winamp Plugin...it's SO BLOODY AWESOME TO HEAR IT IN LOSSLESS QUALITY!!!

Man this is one of the best soundtracks ever i would never of thought a Mario game could pull off such an awesome Orchestra soundtrack Especially the Bowser Battle, Stardust & Galaxy Plant. i would love to walk up and shake the composers hands and tell them that they are fucking awesome.. i mean i would love to see Mainstream Artists come up with anything as amazing as these fine pieces of music

Thank you for this great lossless encoding! FINALLY someone decided to do it right! =)

I love how MediaFire seems devoid of any sort of download limit. Hmmm... After listening to this music CD-quality, I don't want to hear the lossy in-game music anymore!

It should keep it lossless.

Just think of lossless encodes as better forms of wav or aiff.

m4a (efficient lossless) = wav (inefficient lossless); so obviously there will be no loss (in non-pointless data, anyway).

Not 110% sure about the inefficient lossless thing (why would wavs even exist as a standard if it is inefficient?).

Thank you for these uploads. I've been looking for a high-quality rip of this Album, and I've even found it lossless, (and ALAC conversion is a small price to pay)

I re-encoded the entire 2-disc album to 320kbs mp3 files, tagged them, added album art, and uploaded them:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=21URVQPJ

I have the FLAC's as well, but that'll take a while to upload. Enjoy the MP3's though!

It's not really inefficient, it's just the raw data that comes straight from something like a CD. CDs can hold that data, and reading the raw data means that CD players don't need additional processing power to read it.

Lossless formats take that raw data, a series of 0s and 1s, and looks for patterns. If there's a string of ten 0s, for example, it will instead save it as an encoded block of data that takes up the equivalent space of maybe five 0s. This encoded data needs to be processed in order to be played back, meaning the player needs the processing power to be able to read it.

Lossless is practical for storage. Raw data is efficient for usage.

anyway, original poster ROCKS

Wow, never mind any of that-
I managed to find it without resorting to any drastic measures...
But yeah, this place is a great repository for Lossless music:
Keep up the good work!

And that's the thing about Lossless Bitrates, aren't they variable, as to be as close to an analog direct copy as possible!

For lossless bitrate means close to nothing since lossless is basically uncompressed audio. So your getting the highest quality version of that song as per released. Unless it was remastered, or changed in any way in between.
