Somewhat recent work: designs for a kids illustration book, which is supposed to be an introduction to a theater play, which the booklet is based upon. It's all about a princess and a wolf, mainly~

"difficult"

"About a princess."

"watch" "out" "for" "the" "dark"

"hate/evil"
"dark words"

Comments would be nice, since this is actually the first time I'm making these sorta illustrations for an actual booklet!

These are all really good I like the 3rd and last one the most. In the last one the the shading is powerfully deep, very good artwork.

Ha ha Trent.

Thanks for sharing. My favorite is the sixth one.

It's pretty late for me right now. But I'll come back soon to post more constructive comments.

PS: Do I notice the shape of the wolf's head in the gray parts (right at in the center) in the first pic ? ^_^ Neat.

Holy crap, nobody noticed it so far, but it wasn't any intention to make it very noticeable. :D:D Congratulations, you win a copy of the proto-type booklet once it's finished. If I remember it, or if you'd want one, lol.

Thank yous! <3

Another update \:D/

So that booklet I was working on, my school kinda obliged me to put a hiatus on it, 'cause I had to put it aside for what occurred the last couple of weeks: my first internship!

I worked for the Belgian illustratrice Riske Lemmens (http://www.riske.be), and she pretty much teached me basically everything about creating illustrationbooks for children.
And the assignment: to make illustrations for an already existing book, but I was pretty free when it came to the actual task: I could've even chosen to illustrate a story I've written myself, or re-do illustrations of an already existing kids book.
But I went for the last option. ^^ 'cause I have this really old fairytale book, made in the early fifties, and the pictures in it are very old-fashioned and corny, and I always loved to do that one day, to make new and fresh illustrations for it,

So I did! I wasn't able to finish all the illustrations completely, 'cause that is pretty hard to accomplish in only a couple of weeks, but here are a few pictures of pages that I did finish (:D Maybe in some sparetime I could finish all the pages, but you know, time to concentrate again on the other school assignments~) :

And oh yeah, this is a view of my well organised working area:

And oh yeah, this is the actually well organised illustratrice.

And this is me, holding the book. x) The feeling of tangeability is rather immense.

Those are great. It's a very professional result.

Do you intent on sending me this copy along with the other book you're still working on? :P

(PS: Too bad these won't be in english... as I can't read anything other than French, English and some Japanese :/ )

Hynad, I'd definitely send you a copy of the booklet, but I'm not sure about the illustrationbook: overalll, printing a copy of that costs more.

Besides, like I said, I didn't manage to finish all pages in full color, so I'm not even sure if I'm going to finish it in this schoolyear, I wanna finish it, though, just gotta find some proper time to do it. :p Hm, and if I'd finish it, I don't think it would be that hard making one copy with English text, I think. :D:D

....and I'd need to get a bigger envelope, roflz.

And again, thank yous for you all for the comments, deeply appreciate it. <3

Okay, so back to work on the booklet, and it's coming along, slowly but surely: some drawings still need a lot of work, some are practically finished, and some need more or better typography :p :

The last pic is the backcover, and there you can see these little puppets representing the characters that appeared in the kids theatreplay which the book is about, and I'm linking these figurines to another part of this whole assignment: making a gadget;
So I'm also going to make fingerpuppets! :D Pretty excited to actually make them, even though I got slim to none experience when it comes to that craft.

Also: a vid of yet another part of the assignment: building a lookingbox (don't know if there's an actual name for such box, idk :D), a box where you, obviously, have to peek into, observing the athmosphere of the theatreplay:

Accompanied by Nouvelle Vague music. :* Quite fitting, I think!

And we also had to take photographs of within this box, a small simple black/white series, really, keeping it classic:

Time for one of the last updates. :D Finally finished the book, btw, haven't taken pics of it yet, though!

But in the mean time, I've also finished the few other parts of this whole assignment about the theatre play: thus the illustration booklet, a looking box and photos of the box, and also a gadget, entree ticket and poster of the kidsplay!

And here are the gadgets: Not fingerpuppets, but HANDPUPPETS! 8D

Woops for the turned over pics, my bad. :o

Making those big mittens was tougher than I expected, finding a right thickness of fabric. But at least they've turned out to look alright, the arms or the head aren't incredibly flexible. x)

And also the ticket and the poster:

This poster is way more impressive on actual poster size, though:

So hell yeah, Hynad, I'd be ready to send you a copy of the booky. sexpot And Ebichu can have the dolls! :D

"Hello Trentington it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?"

Indeed, several weeks of enjoying the holidays in a justified manner. :D
In the last week of june I got my results and passed the final year of Graphic Illustration, it's been an awesome mad three years, and it did pay off at the final jury of my collegework: All the members were really interested in what I've made, only the presentation of my photography assignment was a bit poor, but that was details. :p I passed big time, pretty proud of it, and here are still a couple of pictures of the booklet I finished in the end:

What I'm doing now is like I said, enjoying the summer while it lasts, looking for a job in the graphic department shall engage soon enough, but now it's still a bit more time for lazy shenanigans. ^^ Thanks again everyone for all the comments in this thread ~ !

(Also, Hynad, I am still wanting to send you a copy of the book, I'll send a pm soon when I figure out what the ultimate best way to send a book abroad is, rofl)

Still haven't found a steady job in any graphic department. :D Blasted, it's harsh, but I'm doing my best~

In the meantime, one of my recent sketches where I'm paying a little bit more attention to (once I saw this one digital design of Harley Quinn for the next Batman movie, I just felt like drawing mine):

Both Anyname and Neg agreed on that my design should be cuter, and atm I'm trying to make it more manga-like. :p Just to let the adorable/twisted-ness come out more easily.

At the moment still haven't found a steady job, but I am being kept busy with little things here and there, one wants a poster, flyer, tickets for small venues designed, and I do those stuff mostly for the fun of it (not that the paycheck is huuuge), couple of recent sketches and stuffs:

Weird collage thing which is still a work-in-progress, design for a big flyer for a concertvenue!

One of the first quicky sketches I did for my new idea for a kidsbook!
