According to Wikipedia: "Eugen Jochum with the Chor und Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin and Gundula Janowitz, Gerhard Stolze, and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Recorded October 1967 in Berlin's Ufa-Studio, released 1968 (Deutsche Grammophon). Folks, forget the Gunzenhauser recording. Jochum's is arguably definitive. I'm currently uploading it in LAME V0 MP3 format for those who don't want a 300mb download. Stand by - should be up in about 45 mins. :)

Please note: 1) Utmost respect to the poster of the Gunzenhauser recording. It's not the finest performance of Carmina Burana, certainly, but it was still very generous of the poster to offer it, and when all is said and done, it's still Carmina Burana. Not perfect, but still a valid recording, and definitely able to provide much enjoyment. MY earlier statement seemed to say "Screw you, Gunzenhauser sucks and your post is crap." That's not what I meant and I intended no offense to the poster. What I meant was "It's no great loss that the link is dead, because there is a better performance available anyway." - The Jochum performance is indeed superior. The recording wears its vintage remarkably well but when all is said and done, it was made forty years ago - please bear this in mind.

2) MY upload is simply a re-encode of the 1967 Orff-endorsed recording that Oreopimp posted in a lossless format. I have re-encoded it as VBR MP3 so that people with slower internet connections, or who do not wish to sustain a 300mb download, may still enjoy this excellent performance. Thanks for this performance should go to the gentleman who posted it originally, not to me.

Guys, I found this thread and I thought someone might recognize this theme . . . it's from a game (SWAT 3) and it was named "Dynamic_Orff" - so with that name I thought that, perhaps, it was by Orff :D - but I couldn't hear it in Carmina Burana. :(
