Yes, it's sweet. I don't like the AI of your teammates in story mode, though - it should be customizable like in SD3. They aren't even aggressive enough as it is.

Anyway, I just got past the Dragon Rider whatever that boss is called at the end of the punishment lands. I started experimenting with Meeth's alchemy pot and eventually figured out how to make Clear and Revive magicite. However, after many Dark Matters, I also discovered white elements (mix Thunder, Blizzard, and Fire) and black elements (mix Cure, Blizzard, and Fire). What are they for? Are they just "useless" byproducts like Dark Matter?

(I even made a Dark Matter that had a cool-looking effect that looked like a magic explosion followed by a dark boulder falling over the spot. I realized in my attempts to recreate this that Dark Matter is a little random.)
Also, when mixing Blizzard and Fire elements one time, there was a strange reaction resulting in little red stars racing around the edge of the pot. What was that?

Is it a good game because i'm thinking of getting it?

What do you all think of FFCC:RoF? I think it's a bit childish but the battle system is alright, if not to easy and the story is okay. (I'm about 2 hours into it)

The controls are crap though. Having to use the stylus for special moves is difficult.

Why? I have no trouble with the controls much. Well, I'll admit that I don't like using the D-pad for movement, but it's not that bad at all. At least I can use the stylus to make my character aim upwards properly at those annoying bats. I'd hate to have to use the D-pad to aim my special attacks.

Thinking about getting it. If it had Wifi I'd already be sold.

I was also considering getting it but have yet to gain an opinion from someone who has played it...

I bought it the other day and so far all I can say is "meh". The story is decent enough, it's a bit childish at times but i can live with it. The characters are developed to a reasonable level and the battle system is good if not a bit difficult due to the stylus.

Yeah, but only for showing off the way you pimped your moogle. =\

I merged the two threads. Hope everyone's okay with that. First time I've used that feature. Carry on. I'm leaving it in this section, because I think it's the right place for it.

The controls are badass though. Having to use my stylin' movement for special moves is hardcore. Kinda like playing the NBA street series

What would you guys rate this game from 1 - 10?

I definitely do not approve of this merger. Undo this sorcery, Agent!

If you liked Crystal Chronicles on GameCube at least a little bit, you'll like this new game much more. Not to mention multiplayer is alot easier since you don't have to buy GBAs and GC-GBA link cables for every player. >_<

GamePRO Magazine reviews the game in its newest issue. They're a bit kinder and assign it a Fun Factor rating of 3.75/5.00. The have the following to say:

PROS: Excellent visuals; rich musical score; innovative touch controls
CONS: Slowdown in populated areas; no Wi-Fi or single cart multiplayer; repetitive gameplay

They also complain in the review of "poorly placed camera angles" and "mindless hack-n-slash." However, they still feel the game offers "a good dose of fun."

Incidentally, what does everybody here think of the music in this game? It doesn't appear that anyone's mentioned it, yet the review flags it as a high point of the game, saying that it "steals the show with a sprawling repertoire..."

I didn't even notice the music really. It didn't stand out

GameInformer has a review of the game in its newest issue. It's rather less favorable. It gives the game a 6/10 and finds that the graphics are the only area in which the game "truly excels." Its overall verdict -- "KICKING THE BUCKET - A reject in the Final Fantasy family tree soldiers on with a sequel." There's also a Second Opinion spot that's only slightly more favorable -- giving it a 7/10.

Just get FFXII: Revenant Wings instead. Less childish imo.

I gave FF XII: RW a 9.5/10. I haven't played FF CC: RoF, but if I start renting games again I may rent it. Everybody check out Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King for Wii. It's a country building rpg developed by people from the FF CC team, the Front Mission team, and Motomu Toriyama(director of FF X, FF X-2, FF XII: RW, and FF XIII). :)
