Why not the WII? Perhaps Square-Enix may feel a want to go back to it's roots i.e. the nintendo.

I prefer to emulate them on my PC. But if I had to choose a specific console it would be either the PS2, as its compatible with the PS1 FFs, or the DS, as it has so many nice ports and remakes. + Its portable

Got to be PS3. The XBox 360 has the most unreliable hardware I've ever seen. It probably couldn't handle a 50-60 hour Final Fantasy story.

You don't own a PS3, then.

Square-Enix isn't limited to one console. They'll release more games on the PS3 because many 360 gamers only want FPS games, and they figure they'll lose money on the system. I would prefer to play FFXIII on a 360, however, because it would boast a better frame rate and higher resolution graphics than on a PS3.

I would Say PS3, They game will look better on a 1080p system rather than 720p, (unless the xbox has upgraded recently?) Plus, I prefer sony over microsoft. But also the Wii would be nice too, it needs more rpg's.

And yes literally a 50 or 60 hour FF game. Have you never played A FF pizzaFFfan?

To be honest, I don't know how people clock up that much time playing FF games. The most I've spent has been around 30 and that was on IX (storyline + all side-quests).

The shit that you come up with.

The PS3 is a pretty reliable system. Especially compared to the 360. The 360 has a pretty bad history when it comes to hardware reliability. How many reports of "red lights of death" do you have to read in order to understand that the 360 just don't compare to the PS3 when it comes to overall hardware quality?

As for the frame-rate issues, that's a non argument. There are bad frame-rate issues on both systems (yuck, Oblivion on 360!!). Where it's more noticeable is when you compare games that are ported and rushed from 360 to PS3 (like Turok).

Anyways, your ignorant comment made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that.

Really? I don't know if this makes me look like a bad gamer, but I recall clocking up 60 hours during my first run on FFVII.

Yes, I have a PS3 and a 360. While the 360 boasts a much stronger games catalogue at the moment, I don't think it's hardware is as good as the PS3's. I don't mean in terms of power and what it can do, I mean how well it performs generally.

Firstly, the 360 uses the age old disc tray, perhaps the most unreliable method of loading a disc. Mine sounds like a jet engine when loading discs. Sony saw fit to ditch the disc tray even in their re-designed slim PS2. Why did Microsoft not do this for the 360?

Secondly, the PS3 can achieve a wireless internet connection straight out of the box. I have to buy an adaptor for the 360 that costs a staggering 50 here in the UK.

Lasltly, while I've been lucky not to have the ring of death, my 360 gets incredibly hot after only 30 minutes. That's why I said in my earlier statement that a 360 may not be able to handle a long Final Fantasy story. If it's gonna just die after a few hours of continuous play, I'd rather have it on the PS3, which stays much cooler.

I noticed most systems will get pretty hot (hotter than they normally would) when you connect them to a multi-plug extension.

I know it can be hard for some to plug their PS3 and 360 without the use of an extension, but that would be my advice to help them keep a (somewhat) normal heat level.

Not really better graphics. Both are currently comparable. This graphic "problem" is generally true when it comes to games that come out on both systems at the same time. And it is mostly the developers fault. The PS3 is a harder system to work with (like the PS2 was back in its early days. I wonder if anyone remembers that) and most of them usually port the game from 360 to PS3 and optimise what they can before the deadlines. Sometimes there is hardly a difference. But most of the time, the PS3 gets a sup-par version. And sometimes, it's even worse and they do things like Turok (a real insult to PS3 owners).

But if you take exclusive titles (Uncharted), or games that the devs take the time to optimise (Oblivion) then it's hard to tell really what system is above the other.

The majority of my friends who actually continue to play Final Fantasy Titles were at first afraid of the PS3 only because they were not willing to pay up the $600. I think now though that the main reason some of them wish for Square-Enix to port the Final Fantasy franchise, and possibly Kingdom Hearts titles to other systems, is because they are unsure of the PS3's reliability.

I would have no qualms with future FF installments being ported to the WII, that will most likely be my next-gen system that I purchase. As far as FF going to the PS3, it doesn't bother me though I prefer to know more about upcoming FF's such as XIII and what-not before making any decisions to buy a PS3.

On an unrelated note: the "360 ring of death situation" has been making me rethink my decision to purchase the upcoming Fable 2, it will probably have to be for the PC.

Prak: I'm not forgetting it. I'm hoping they succeed in fixing this problem. But it is still too early to judge if the situation changed.

So far, they have a bad record with the 360, and I judge the system based on that record.

The future will tell us if the 360 becomes more reliable.

I have plenty of games I'm looking forward to on this system:

-Lost Odyssey
-Fable 2
-Too Human [maybe one day?]
-Lode Runner (plenty of hours spend on that on the Commodore 64 back in the 80s)
-Bionic Commando Rearmed (god, this I play that game on the NES. And now the game looks even more fun than ever on X-Live! I'm only hoping it won't stay in the UK only)
-Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit (yeah, can't help it... I grew up with those stupid characters ^^)
-Warhammer: Battle March
-Ninja Gaiden 2
and many more to come, most likely...

...so I really hope they succeed so I can end up buying a problem-free system and enjoy my games in all tranquility.

Personally, I didn't enjoy 360 exclusives ( my friend owns a 360 ) so I got a PS3. Hell I wanted one anyway... I gotta say this is a quiet, multimedia gaming console and I believe I got my moneys worth. Love the games, but shame on lazy developers. If you look at LAIR, you can see what this beast is capable of.

Actually, navigating through a Final Fantasy world with the Wiimote sounds kinda fun. It worked with the port of Resident Evil 4. Didn't really care for the Crystal Chronicle games on the Gamecube though, and it seems that is the only Final Fantasy coming to Nintendo consoles these days...

Hynad

Sony has its part of the blame as well. They were supposed to get on board with Nintendo to develop a CD add-on for the SNES. But the project was scraped (for reasons too long to post here, but basically, Sony wanted to get their hands on most of Nintendo's IPs to use on the CD add-on.) and Sony used what they had and further developed it to make the PSOne.
