I have heard that in FFX-2 International, it is possible to use some of the characters from FFX in battle at some point. I think during Last Mission. Anyway, I scoured the internets in an attempt to find any pictures or solid proof of this, and I couldn't find jack.

Hoax? Pipe dream? Or reality? I can't imagine many people on here have actually played this game, as it's Japan-only. But if anyone has a link to a video or screenshots or something...

Just like the famed "Devil Kazuya" in T5, there are no pictures at all and the rumor starters even went so far as to say that it cannot be captured on film. :-\

Are we sure this is a rumor? I seem to recall reading very clearly somewhere about being able to play characters other than YRP in the International version. If not these, then definitely others. Would appreciate hearing from somebody who actually has it.

I remember reading it on Gamefaqs in an actual international/LM version FAQ. I was gonna say that when I saw this topic a few months ago and the OP being told he was lied to, but decided against it since no one would probably believe me and I have yet to play it.

And also how can that be hacked? Their character/sprite data must exist within the game in the first place in order for that to be a hack and it's not like they're borrowing their sprites from FFX, considering they're battling legitimately within the X-2 battle system, how can that be faked?

I aslo heard that Nooj, Baralai and Gippal are available. EDIT never mind according to the video they aren't there.

But anyway what I wanna see is their looks in different dresspheres. Of course I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed the same. EDIT now after what I noticed down there they might not be changeable.

EDIT: Also noticed that the menu had a "Battle Member" option (katakana is easy to read), which means Party, and that option would have no reason to exist in the original version. So I'm pretty sure this is real.

EDIT: Interesting, it appears they act on their own accord as the ATB fills up, like Umaro from FFVI or Sephiroth during the flashback in FFVII or Vincent's Limit Breaks, etc. I noticed the only one that got to make a choice was Yuna.
Also during the boss I saw Tidus use what translates to "Spiral Cut", and Auron use something that said "Full Break", which I imagine has an effect like Banishing Blade.

So, I guess they each have a set of special attacks that they use when they please, kinda like the Magus sisters. However, on the menu Tidus and Auron were labeled "Berserker" and Lulu some kanji thing I couldn't quite understand. Probably Black Mage.

My guess is that at one point you have to always have at least one of YRP in the party.

Either way, bottom line is all these little details seem a bit hard to fake in something like hacking game data. Sprites are one thing, but what about their techniques, the party option, and other stuff?

It's only in New Game Plus apparently. Are you sure? Or is it in the International JAPANESE version, maybe. The video is in Japanese with English voiceover. But then again Tidus and Auron have battle quotes in English.

F - CREATURE CREATE & BATTLE SIMULATOR
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

For starters, check out these two guides:
db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/final_fantasy_x_2_ilm_creature_create.txt
http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/final_fantasy_x_2_ilm_capture.txt

I'll only make a short recap on what Creature Create is (thanks to Kouli)

1. CREATURE CREATE system allows you to capture practically all fiends in
Spira and use them in battle, along with NPCs in the game, like Yaibal,
Lucil, Elma, Nooj, Baralai, Gippal, Trema...
You'd also be surprised to know that some of original FFX cast can be yours
to command: Tidus, Auron, Lulu, Kimahri, Seymour, as well as Aniki/Brother,
Dachi/Buddy, and Strongest Shinra (nope, this is not the normal Shinra,
this is another version of him).

The Creature Create system alone is pretty much worth it. Very fun and
addictive. You capture fiends using different sized items called Pods, then
it's your job to level up creatures and see their Episode Completes. Fiends
you capture, or rather the % of fiends captured, is also shown. When you
EPCOM a fiend, you have the opportunity to release it and view a special
scene - some of them are hilarious, while some are needed to get access to
new fiends for capturing.

There are 184 fiends to be captured in the Creature Create mode.

Once you complete 100% of all fiends, and you view Shinra's ending, you're
presented with an option of creating New Game Plus data.

2. BATTLE TOURNAMENT is the place where you can train your creatures or level
them up in order to gain Story Levels and possible Episode Completes for
them. There's 10 different tournaments, which allow you to fight lot of
fiends and NPCs. Needless to say, Trema and Paragon are among them. The
final boss of Last Mission also appears in one of Battle cups - its name is
MAJOR NUMERUS.

Figting in Battle Cups is the only way to get Tidus, Auron, Seymour and
Strongest Shinra to join your party.

3. For any other information please refer to two guides I linked to above.
This document lists differences and extras, not detailed information on the
two features.

Ngr, you may claim to have the game, but for some reason I believe this over you.

Also, what they claim about "a different Shinra" seems to match with the video, cause in one of the parts I've watched so far in the video I saw Shinra's face in the menu screen and was like WTF? It looked kind of like Yojimbo's head.

This FAQ and the video are from two different sources and seem to match with the Shinra thing and other stuff as well, but if you really have the game Ngr, do you think it's possible that you might have not known about this? I suggest checking out Gamefaqs because there is actually more than one FAQ that states this. A bunch of different FAQs lying about the same thing and having a whole section devoted to that lie is quite a large claim.

From the Last Mission version difference guide (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/918914/30013) on gamefaq:

CREATURE CREATE system allows you to capture practically all fiends in
Spira and use them in battle, along with NPCs in the game, like Yaibal,

I would have thought most people would know about this site by now.

EDIT: Never mind, beaten to it. I should probably refresh more often.

Also

Auron wouldn't even belong in this game. I hope it's a rumor.
It's in New Game Plus, a lot of things there defy logic like using the Zanarkand Abes in Blitzball and being able to get Tidus. All these non-YRP people are just bonus characters to use in battle and don't appear during cutscenes, those are exactly the same as if not there.

Agreed.

I'm curious about the functions of the characters. I couldn't find a FAQ stating what they can all do, but so far I have:

-They're self-functioning and do as they please. Tidus, Auron, Kimahri, and Shinra come as Berserkers, while Lulu and Seymour come as Black Mages. At least that's their label, not sure if it's changeable
-Tidus can use Spiral Cut
-Auron can use "Full Break" (probably Banishing Blade)
-Lulu can use all the lv1 magic spells
-Kimahri can use Jump.

Someone better find me a full list of the playable characters and their functions, that's be great.

I don't think PAL is the same thing as International and Last Mission. And if you don't have all of this bonus stuff, then I guess it definitely isn't.

Honestly, the idea of being able to play as other characters doesn't excite me so much as the idea of being able to use bonus dresspheres such as "Party Girl" and "Psi-kicker" and accessing other bonus content.

Agent0042

Well, it's like we say, "International and Last Mission." Apparently they go on some sort of big "last mission" with content not included in the original game. From what I understand, there's also a bonus ending FMV that features the tune "To You, 'Kimi E'" (Theme of Yuna, vocal.)

Or just order it online. I'm sure it's available on ebay.

One downside to it that I heard is that the Cat Nip/Trigger Happy trick doesn't work in it, because while the Cat Nip has it's previous effect, it puts Slow and Berserk on you. Slow is avoidable with Slowproof equipment but there's no way out of Berserk.

I've been playing the game a heck of a lot since months ago. The Creature Create feature is so much fun and watching each of the monsters endings is very cool. They're either very humorous or very depressing (some monsters die in their endings).

I managed to capture most of the creatures including the NPCs. I have the LeBlanc trio as my main party(hehe). I wanted to use the Crimson Squad instead but their very bad in battle when together. :( I also haven't unlocked Tidus, Seymour, Auron, Trema and Strongest Shinra yet. In order to unlock them you'll have to beat them in the Farplane Cup but I'm stuck in the Strongest Shinra cup because Strongest Shinra is very VERY hard. Even harder than Paragon+Trema. Actually the monsters in the Battle Coliseum are much more harder than the enemies in the main game especially in the later cups.

Btw, Last Mission is a separate game that plays just like the Fushigi no Dungeon games. It's used games like Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon and Chocobo Dungeon. You have to go up a looming 100 floor tower. Each floor is randomly generated. The game happens after X-2 and it shows what happens to everyone after the ending in the main game.
