because she is actually dead. In battle you faint. The reason why the game is over when everyone faints is that thre is no-one to revive you.

But if you read Phoenix down's description(in FF7) it says:"Revives a fallen character".So they die when they reach 0 HP?

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">The way I look at it is that when a character is at 0HP, they are knocked out. In fact, in FF8, the description for a Phoenix Down is 'Removes KO Status'. Knockout is a status, and it is recovered by using a Phoenix Down. Notice that characters that have 0HP in battle are still alive in the normal game. Aeris however was killed outside of battle, and is actually 'dead', not 'KOd' like a character who is reduced to 0HP in battle.

Something like that anyway... :uh?: ;)

so dose that mean is she stould up and held her weapon then sephirot attack would not have killed her

It doesn't really matter if u can or can't use a Pheonix down, because her death is part of the story.

lol Steven. It means that if you get sliced through the stomach, you die and if someone uses an attack that would be worse than that, you just get KOed.

I agree with Neo Xzhan above...

You gotta admit too that it would have been stupid if Cloud would have taken her to his arms and would have said: 'Oops, Sephiroth killed Aeris. I'm gonna kick your butt for that one, Sephy! Tifa, give me one Phoenix Down.'

Peraphs you're right, but what about Revive spell? If someone revives you...it means that you were dead, right?

You can still be alive but revived. Like to be brought out of unconciousness would count as being revived.

Aeris couldn't be revived because Sephiroth was using a MAGIC SWORD. Well, anyone got any other idea how she could survive lightning, explosions, and gun fire, but die at the hands of Sephiroth's sword?

Here's something: When you take off all the HP of monsters, they die. They don't have revive spells or anything.

And of course, the Enemy Skill, Lvl5 Death. Notice the word DEATH and when it gets used on you (if you're unlucky enough to be a multiple of 5) you're dead, as it says.

All good points. Yes i have always though as the character actually dying when their health hits 0, but as this is a magical game i accepted the fact that allies can be revived.

As for Aeris she died as part of the storyline thats the only explaination really.

also - if all 3 characters in battle die why not your characters that wern't in the fight revive them? heheh

Well, except the big sample inside Nanaki's cage......it can revive its "cubs" with a special move. But i think it's the only monster who can do that.

Occasionally, an enemy can revive someone that was fighting with it. Unless all enemies faint. Then you finish after the battle, when theres noone to stop you. Same with ur chars, if all of them faint then the monsters can finish them off.

And now we come to this. If allies are right next to you when you fight (such as on the World Map or in place like Sector 1 with Jesse and that right next to you) why don't they help you? It doesn't really make sense why if you're all killed or KOed or anything, they can't run in and attack. (Well, they sorta do that in FF6, but that's not all the time)

(belated reply)
i don't get why they can't use a phoenix down on her either...
i think about it this way...:
there is a moment that you can use your last breaths of air before you actually die...
and it took her a long time to hit the floor after she got the shaft...
the entire scene lasts a few minutes even...
i am disappointed...
i say that they enjoyed watching her die, because "looks can kill"...
-AND TO THINK THAT IT WAS ONLY A SWORD THAT STRUCK HER... COMPARED TO WHEN SEPHIROTH SUMMONS SUPER NOVA IN THE END AND GETTING NUKED BY FREAKING SUN!!!
i believe that there was DEFINITELY a chance for revival...
but deep down...
- IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!!
yessss, a secret form of mind control that tries to make you insane in every way possible by dwelling on the matter so much...
O_o

Spoilers ahead

There r alot of other things that rn't right if u look at it that way.

*) The Tyhpon summon doesn't leave any marks on the battle field as well Alexander, Neo Bahamut, Ifrit and the KOTR.

*) When u die in battle it is just some sort of KO status (like in FF6 they call it wounded)

*) Why didnt they revive Ifalna then??
and so u can think of alot more.
