I don't think I care mostly because I don't remember defeating Emerald as I just got tired of it and didn't see any material benefits involved.

In the beginning of the game as soon as you get a party kill Cloud, now go through the rest of the game with Cloud dead so he doesn't level up. Now when you go to fight Emerald Weapon revive Cloud and kill off the rest of your party. Now you will fight Emerald Weapon with just Cloud at his lowest level possible with his initial equips. Oh and no materia, Materia is for sissies.

No, you equip magic materia, but you aren't allowed to use it. That way you get the stat penalties.

Not mastered materia, Master materia. As in one materia that gives you every magic, one that gives you every summon, and one that gives you every command that doesn't alter attack or double an existing command (i.e. double cut, slash all, W-item).

It's useful if you're trying to get a set for each person, or if you don't have one yet.

Only way to get Master Materia is having one of each materia at master level then go to Bugenhagen's observatory and inspect the color(s) you mastered.

Master materia can be getting by killing Emerald WEAPON, and going to kalm, talk to the guy upstairs in the right house. He will give you all 3 of the master materia for the Earth Harp you got from dimolishing Emerald WEAPON.

Beating Emerald and Ruby was a waste of time for me. There were no benefits, other than waiting to beat the Weapons and receive a Gold Chocobo, instead of raising one yourself. But that defeats the whole purpose of Chocobo racing.
