Our objective is to get 20 000 (yes, twenty thousand) signatures supporting a remake of Final Fantasy VIII for the PS 3. At the time I post this, we have 14 signatures. Only 19 986 to go!

At the very least, VIII Remake Petition > VII Remake Petition.

I'm not an optimist, but I play one in this thread.

being my favorite FF, i would love to see improvements on graphics and voice animations :), although i probably won't be getting the PS3 for sometime, if i even do... I would still like to see this game get a remake..

This will never work, but, FFVIII remake > FFVII remake.

I love how you're so optimistic, but this won't work. Unless S-E runs out of ideas, but PS3 is not PS1 backwards-compatible so you never know.

Did Square enix choose the number 20,000 or someone else? I mean how does signing a petition actually force anyone to make a remake of a game. You could get the signitures and they might still not make the game.

Why do people waste time with these petitions? They do fuck all. Square isn't going to remake a game just because a bunch of fanboys are shoving petitions into their faces. Have you fools learned nothing from the FFVII petitions?

They aren't always useless. Cadburies brought back the Wispa bar in the UK after a successful online petiton requesting it. Although this is SquareEnix, not Cadburies and it was a chocolate bar, not a video game.

I still don't really see why SE would remake this game, I mean if they were so out of ideas and had to resort to remaking a game they'd probably remake VII due to the huge demand. Even that is still very unlikely.

Not really When Square ported over to Sony they remade most of their FFs, So the Wii/Xbox has a better shot at getting a port. Not to mention the fact S-E has their plate full this year, with CC, Last Remnant, Star Ocean 4, and other things. So it's possible I just wouldn't count on it.

I can see an FF remake being successful, that is if that FF would fully benefit from that remake and there was a way the game could be taken further.

As for FF8, it is one of my favorites, but I believe the game is fine the way it is, the way it should be remembered. I'm content with the game just the way it is.

As for FF7, once again one of my favorites. Part of me would like to see a remake, the graphics could seriously be improved. Besides maybe adding some sidequests, maybe a few cutscenes, I would like to see the game follow the original and thats it.

Example: I highly enjoyed FFX....then FFX-2....where a summoner is turned into a gun toting pop singer...'nuff said.

I suppose I'll have a go. I paid 80 dollars for a game that doesn't like my gaming rig and can't return it (forget the laptop. The stupid ATI Radeon Mobility IGP chip in that thing randomly drops tons of frames after running for 10 minutes or so). I refuse Software rendering and software synthesizer as an answer- that's an insult to a machine equipped with a pair of 7800GT SLIed and X-Fi Hardware MIDI Synth with Soundfonts technology, and it's owner.

I liked the game because of it's difference to the other FF games. That, and the story is actually quite captivating.

20,000 purchases is what burger king racing needed to break even

Have you tried turning off your PCI slot and running your (assuming you have one) on-board Graphics card? Since it's so old it'll almost be guaranteed to run seamlessly.

agreed. i cee the game fine as it stands. and FF7 could definitely use an updated tone color for most of the songs too.

not to be so pessimistic, but would SE really remake FF8? i honestly don't cee it happening.

Final Fantasy 8 sold millions of copies.
Do you really think a mere 20,000 is going to make a huge impact?

I don't think the game warrants a remake if I'm honest.

Rolling on the floor, laughing maniacally. I have never heard of one of these online petitions working. Also, FFVIII doesn't need a remake. If any FF game should be remade, it's IX. Also, closed.
