okay. the story -
I bought final fantasy 8 overseas and it consisted of 2 discs. Apparently its meant to be 4 or 5 discs.
The first disc - Has just FF8Install.exe
Second Disc - Has Patches.and continues the installtion from disc1.
I install it and i get a folder of 1.4gb of files and folders.
they are:
Data(folder)
Save(folder)
chocobo.exe
binkw32.dll
Disc1
Disc1.pak
Disc 2
Disc 2.pak
Disc 3
Disc 3.pak
Disc 4
Disc 4.pak
EAXUnified.exe
FF8.exe
FF8.exe.BAK
FF8Config.exe
ff8input.cfg
field.fi
field.fl
field.fs
INSTALL.lOG
README.txt
Unwise32.exe

Are those all the files im meant to have???
I have tried various amounts of no cd cracks. approx 5+
When i start up the game everything works fine until i select new game.
Then "Insert disc 1" comes up then when i press 'x' it says Wrong Disc.
I have also tried the Mounting methods and using the regedit method.
i have done the regedit correctly but still does not seem to work.
i have made iso's of the files (Disc1,Disc1.pak) and so on. The program
i used to make iso's was "Magic Iso"
Does anyone know what im doing wrong? my suggestion is that
i'm not creating the iso's properly.
I made an iso of Disc1 with Disc1.pak.
Disc2 with Disc2.pak.
Disc3 with Disc3.pak.
Disc4 with Disc4.pak.
Can someone please tell me what the correct files i need to put with if
i am creating the iso's incorrectly.
Is magic iso a good program to make iso's??
Thanks. im a noob.

Try having both the Discx file and Discx.pak file in the ISO, where x is the disc number. I have the EA Classics release of the game (6 disc set with the manual book replaced with a manual CD) and recall seeing both the discx and discx.pak file, one on each CD. I also suspect that the title of the CD is important as well, but I don't have the titles with me at the moment- maybe someone else can fill you in on this?

And oh, if you have an MP3 of Eyes on Me, create a hybrid ISO with Disc3 and Disc3.pak on the data track and add the song as an audio track. On the EA Classics discs, disc 3 is a hybrid CD with game data and the song as an audio CD track.

You have to mount disc 1 after you've installed the game (assuming you're using ISOs).

mounted it using daemon. Only thing i can think of is im making the iso's incorrectly or i am missing some files...

Another thing that just came to my mind: If it's a warez disc (somewhat likely, since you mentioned that it came in only two disc and it installed everything into your hard disk), it's probably already patched to look into your game directory for the game files (read: no-cd patched). Reinstall, take a look at the readme, and perhaps apply the patches provided on the second disc.

Make an ISO with the following files: DISC1.PAK, DISC1, FIELD.FI, FIELD.FL, and FIELD.FS. Then try mounting that ISO and try again. If it works, then create other ISOs for the other discs, but switch DISC1.PAK and DISC1 with the others.

okay well i have got the disc problem tackled.
Now the problems are
1. How do u properly exit the game?
2. graphical problems. i have lines and black boxes everywhere.
i have got the ff8nvidia patch. I put it on. But now when i try to play the game
the cd problem rises again.
help? thanks by the way for telling me the files to make the iso

ok i fixed the problem about the graphics. changed it to software render instead of the other one.

But how do u exit the game properly -.-
and when making disc2 iso do i have to include field.fs etc?

Welcome to the club. This is, as I stated numerous times before, a problem with newer NVidia cards and not the game itself.

Erm, from the menu?

I don't recall seeing them in disc2 on, but I think there's no harm in trying. Besides, it's just an ISO file. If you make an ISO with the files in it and it doesn't work, just re-open the ISO and remove the files from the ISO :)

The only thing you change is the DISC1 stuff with the DISC2 etc. stuff. The field files are included in all of the discs so make sure to add them each time when creating the ISOs.

And the only way I know how to exit the game (a.k.a. closing it down) is pressing Alt+F4.

And no problem with the help :)! I've created a guide onto how to install the game and get it to work properly. But no one really had an issue where they had to create the disc images themselves, but luckily I know what to do there :D.

Thanks for that tip - I never knew how to exit the game... (I'd got my copy second hand minus instructions)

If you did what I stated already then it should work. You said you already had Disc 1 working, right? Use the same files except replace the DISC1 files (both of them obviously) and switch it with the right files for the disc you want then create that ISO. It will work if you do it right so if it doesn't then you're the one that did something wrong.

I guess u misunderstood what i wrote , i only have these files DISC1.PAK, DISC2.PAK, DISC3.PAK, DISC4.PAK, DISC1, FIELD.FI, FIELD.FL, and FIELD.FS, that means i dont have DISC2 , DISC3 and DISC4 file, which means i cant replace both of them as u suggested., which also means i was able to properly create only cd1 iso. And thats why im asking for help, since i was not able to find them online. If someone would be able to upload them somewhere so i can make those iso files for the rest of the discs.

This is late but I finally found my FF8 PC disk.

Here's the files you need: FF8 Disk 2-4.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/file/enrn3dwhewc6wxz/FF8%20Disk%202-4.zip)
