It looks as if he has more creative freedom after Pans Labyrinth snagged an oscar. Some of the creature designs are stunning and just goes to show that cgi isn't always the best way to go.

Also, it looks as if it's more of a new beginning than a sequel. Maybe to make it more accessible to idiots who haven't seen the first?.

The Angel of Death (eyes on wings, odd crown) in the trailer looks so much like The Watcher from Pan's Labyrinth. That's the biggest hook in the trailer for me. What struck me as odd is how little Hellboy himself is displayed in the trailer. Holy hell, though: Ron Perlman is getting old...
