Hey people, it's me agian and once again I'm having trouble with this game. I'm currently in Chapter 2 and I beat the part where Gafgarion set up a fake execution. Now I'm at Lionel Castle and am getting my ass kicked by freakin Gafgarion! My Ramza is currently at level 15 and there is no chance that I can beat that bastard 1-on-1. The people outside are tough too (only b/c they outnumber my crew) but I think I can beat them, with some good tactics.

Anyway, what should I do? Level up or do you people have any special strategies I should use?

If I can remember correctly, I used

3 Knights (one of them being Ramza)
1 Priest
1 Summoner

And I'd recommend to atleast be at level 25. THat's what level I was at. Also, the jobs above were the one I sued. THe battle was long, but in the end, I won it.

Is this the only suggestion cause I'm currently at lv. 15 and my enemies are only lv. 16-17. It'll be a little unfair if I level up to 25. Plus it'll take forever.

If possible, use weapon break on Gafgarion for sure, it disables his ability to fight in general. For the outside battle, it shouldnt be too hard if you just take out the casting enemies first.

If you stole the blood sword at the execution site, it will also help a lot because you can drain back HP as you damage enemies, and not have to worry about healing Ramza or any other knight with it equipped.

Well, you can either weapon brak his sword, or steal it.

My stratagy however is simple. First off by that part of the game, I have Ramza as a lancer. I simply stay away from him, and keep attacking from far. Also, I have a character there that keeps stoping him from doing either act, or move that way I kill all the other characters and collect their items or crystals, then save Gafgarion for the end.

oh, so i can steal his sword during that battle? I can't make him a lancer yet so that wouldn't work, but I could possibly make him an archer and still attack from afar, right? how about the level complications? where do you think I should have my people at by now. Like I said, Ramza is at level 15 with everyone else close behind

Another thing you could do is have a wizard and move it next to the wall, that way you can lure Gafgarion close enough so you can target a spell.
don't change Ramza into an Archer. Better thing is to give him his basic squire skills, and just run and accumulate power.

Just get Auto Potion and steal Gafy's sword...that way you can be okay with the guys outside and Gaf cant hit you with that HP Drain attack. Its best to take out those Knights out side though before anything...they can just break your armor and stuff right off the front...and the love to do it if you are in advanced levels.

Thanx for the suggestions, but I have one other quetion. How do I get Auto-potion? Also, What level do you all suggest that I be?

'''''How do I get Auto-potion?'''''

It's a Chemist reaction ability, costs 400 Job Points.

'''''What level do you all suggest that I be?'''''

*shrug*

Depending on your Jobs and abilities, it could be anywhere from a few levels below the enemies' to several levels above them.....

Medium to long range attackers equipped with Arrow Guard can be very helpful. You can avoid the Archers' attacks and stay away from the Knights, and still be able to attack them.

Well for me I level'ed up all my characters to level 30 or so. Use Agrias in this battle. Her multi hitting attacks will get those Knights grouped at the start. Give Ramza nothing but speed increasing items and if you have it the Calculator job skill. This way you can heal everyone on your team if needed.

if you have a summoner, make sure they start in front of the gate, and on ramzas turn, move him as far away from gafgarionas possible... then gafgarion will move closer, and your summoner can target him with s summon, then just have ramza attack. it worked for me

i do have a ? though..

i have ramza a master lancer and he is now a ninja
i have another master lancer
a master summoner
a master archer
and i have agrias mastered

and ideas on to what to change thier jobs to??? any suggestions would be appreciated..

The one-on-one with me and gafgarion is a cinch now. I made Ramza a chemist with the steal ability and I just heling and stealing until I get the weapon. Without his sword, he is nothing. Now I'm having trouble defeating the crew outside. I almmost had them beat too but I think my people are too weak. They are all at lv 16 and below while those other bastards are lv. 16-18. Anyway, thank you all for you're suggestions.

And help T.G. Cid. I wish I could but I'm nowhere near that lv in the game.

Ok there is one thing I dont think anyone here has said yet. If you want to dominate this battle there are two ways about it (using tactics, not brute strenth of high levels) 1. you bring a black chocabo into battle at the highest level possable, without raising your characters lvl. Fly it up to the top where ramza will climb on and fly down to kill off everyone with his frineds. 2. Give ramza the ability "ignore hight" this will alow you to jump down off the wall (not up it though) at the lowest part away from the gate.

Remember to have attacks such as summons, earth slash, and any holy knight skillz, because he tends to hide at the back.

*cough coward!!! *cough

I tried using a a chocobo (both black and red) and they couldn't fly up:mad: I'm not sure why but there was no way for them to get up. And they died rather quickly so they did nothing to help me win the battle. :notgood:

It worked 100% vershur for me...Just try the jumping...its probably a better idea anyways.

Nope, tried it again but it was no use. I figured out an easier way though. All I had to do is OPEN the gate! Simple as that. Too bad I didn't realize this until I beat everyone out side. After I beat all of them, I had Ramza running from Gafgarionand then I saw the lever by the gate. I let evrone in and I jumped his ass. I know, a little cowardly but hey, it worked!

You can open the gate? Scuzzy. My first time through I equipped Ramza and a cadet with Teleport (Time Mage move ability, 600 AP) just in case one party needed assistance from the other.

Of course the fact that I had Teleport at that point kinda meant that I was much stronger than I was "supposed to be" at that point. Go fig.

i know have a blood sword on ramza that will help you with the hp and just keep attacking the guy with ramza until he is dead or else you could always just press the lever so ramza can help the group and vica verca...
