Maybe it's his pierced ears and slighty high voice... then again I was half asleep when I first got to Bhujerba and met Larsa.

As for being mistaken for a girl, I get that all the time, esp. from elderly people who can't see/don't pay attention to faces very well... maybe it's the long hair...
