So yeah, it's an other unfinished work of mine. But in this case, it's the one I'm doing RIGHT now. Not one that has been accumulating dust for ages.

So here goes.

It's done using a 2B pencil. All the shadings will be "colored" using painter X (via color settling and corrected using brush controls [AKA free hand :P]).

Keep in mind that the pic isn't fully scanned. My scanner is too small to scan the format on which I draw on a single shot. Since the pic isn't yet finished, I didn't bother going through the whole piecing together process.

The body is fully drawn, but the only shading that is done is there on the pic, except for a part of his left arm missing from the scan.

Also keep in mind that although it may look like what is shaded so far is part of the finished work, it is not. Until I post the finished version of the pic, and specifically state that it is so, the image will not be set in stone and may be subject to change and improvement (like this S shield!).

Bonus: Here's to prove to Sophiris that an artist can have more than one style.

Pygmy power!!!

I really like the pygmy more than your realistic black&whites, it's got more character. :o But that's just me~

Thanks for the comments guys.

Panda Surf: Really? I can see you prefering the comical aspect of the Pygmy over Superman. I personaly feel my Superman is much more compelling for me to draw, but I like drawing these comical characters for fun. It's a lot easier and less time consuming, but I always prefered taking the time to put more details and subtleties in my pics. I'm a meticulous perfectionist, and I sometimes have to slap myself so I can make up my mind and decide a pic is done. @_o

Also: After my Superman pic, I'm taking ideas for my next pic. Anyone can post here to have his ideas illustrated.

I just feel like getting some outside ideas and maybe end up drawing something I wouldn't think of. Of course, the credit for the idea will be mentioned. ^_-

This deserves to be commented on, the pygmy is cute and amusing but i'm in awe over your superman drawing, purely amazing. I say keep a black and white version also, it looks great.

As for ideas i have no idea what catagory you'd be interested in getting ideas from :-\

That's the thing. The ideas are entirely up to your liking.

I ask because I want to try doing something new.

As for the pic, of course I'll keep a black and white version. On paper, everything will be done using a 2B pen, and maybe some charcoal. The color version will be done using Painter X on my PC.

Thanks for the comment.

I'd say Spawn, i've always loved the long red jagged cape that flows behind him, just an idea :)

Okay. I haven't posted an update in a while now, and seriously, this is taking me a lot more time than I expected. Mainly because I'm working on many pieces at the same time, and this one is a personal pic, not a comission.

So I'll post what little I have done since the last time I posted the sketch.

I'm working on 3 layers for this pic. And there is one that isn't included here. The one with the roughly sketched background. I didn't include it since all there is to it are rough guide lines of skyscrapers, clouds and the likes.

I'll be posting more updates as the piece advances towards its final state (which I hope will happen before an other 2 months).

Enjoy!

very nice, very nice. usually i like the original black and white initial sketches the most, but i like the color version a lot.

from one person who enjoys art to another, awesome work. and the way you describe being busy working on other pieces, do you do artwork professionally, or just as a strong hobby?...
