Oh boy, Well it's like a stuffed toy that looks like a mog, and it has a cat on it, and I believe that His actions through out the game was done by Reeve.

Hes a toy cat riding on a stuffed moogle, the cat is controlled by reeve. He is a good fighter if you bother training him. Hes a good magic user.

the question has been Answered and there are plenty of "whats the point in cait sith" and "is cait sith any good" threads around.
