Because I haven't seen a thread regarding this game yet, I would like to know some of you guys' inputs on it. I'm interested in buying it, but I would rather know if it's worth buying. At school, there isn't a place that I can rent movies or games so I'd like to be on the safe side.

Graphics, Sound, Controls, Battle System, Story, Characters

All aspects of the game were just ok or not good or annoying/uninteresting. Also, the game doesn't innovate I'm told and I think it appeals to a different/younger audience than my preference. I'm not too interested in this game.

The other two big time more traditional Japanese rpg's coming out for consoles this fall are Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 and Eternal Sonata.

Persona 3 is loved by everybody, I have never heard anybody say anything negative about it. I rented it and thought it was good but it wasn't good enough for me to buy/finish.

Eternal Sonata is great! I bought it and a bunch of extra stuff for it. It's like 38 hours long to finish everything. I give it 8/10.

Rent all three games. Then decide which you want.

If you are interested, we can have a conversation here where I can give you answers to all your questions regarding rpg's out this fall in Usa.

If you are in Usa, drop what you are doing right now and buy Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings! Read my thread bout it in the FF XII forum. :)

Download the demo and see for yourself if it's what you like.

Just FYI, the voices are interchangeable in the retail game, and you can listen to the Japanese voices if you like, so don't think "Oh gawd, I can't take hours of listening to these voices!!" :P (Personally I think a few of the English voices are better than the Japanese voices, anyway, but that's just me.)

I loved BD and still play it now and then when I can. Kinda gave me a nice nostalgic feeling for turn-based RPGs.

Imo, its a good game. It has a really old school feel to it. The games difficulty is super easy. The bosses might pose somewhat of a challenge. I enjoy the characters so far and the story isn't as bad as people make it out to be. The game looks beautiful albeit some plain landscapes. I love the fighting system. Just wish the diffculty complimented the strategy the battle system offers. The game is pretty lengthy. Should keep you busy for a while. If you enjoy old school turn based rpgs, you'll love this game.

Because I would rather have more than one person's input on something like this, I don't bother with reviews.

Me and a friend of mine went to a store where I was wondering whether to get Oblivion or this game. He told me to get Oblivion but music in a video game is really important, at least to me. Is the BD music as good as the FF music? I know it's by the same composer and was just wondering if it's just as good or not.

For me, music in a videogame doesn't matter. But, the music in blue dragon is great. I was actually thinking of buying the soundtrack. I've never thought of doing that before lol.

I've read reviews where critics have said the music was bad. I really enjoy it. The boss battle theme doesn't really sound that great. I've heard from a few people that they thought it was amazing lol. Rent the game 1st or just download the free demo and see for yourself.

The boss battle theme makes me want to smash things, just like the Devee dance song...

But oddly, I think they do grow on you after a while. Either you learn to like it or just start tuning it out. Or you can just use the 360's streaming music feature. :P

But anyway.

I thought the music was great. Uematsu made a lot of the themes sound really homely and gentle, with some FANTASTIC piano pieces. Some of the best piano I've heard him write since FFIX's "Rose of May." Plus there's some fun, jaunty pieces in other dungeons that totally fit with the game (Baroy Town comes to mind).

So it really is very much Uematsu. He's said he wrote it to sound a little lighter and happier than say, his upcoming Lost Odyssey, so it might feel a little less grand/epic than that, but I still think it's great stuff.

For reviews, don't go by any single review from a magazine or website. Get the aggregate rating from Metacritic.com/games or Gamerankings.com

The game was kinda popular, but there were problems with it which prevent it from being ultimate. I think it was overshadowed partially by Persona 3 and Jeanne D'Arc.

I think the game was overshadowed by bioshock. Everyone was too busy playing that this summer.

Yea Bioshock came out a week earlier. Bioshock is a 3rd person shooter and Blue Dragon is a traditional console rpg. It was interesting when some people mentioned a game Bioshock as an rpg and I thought it was a 3rd person shooter. I rented it and it was a 3rd person shooter. Apparently the "rpg elements" people were talking about were customizable weapons.

Here are the most popular rpg's this fall
Aug 14th - Persona 3
Aug 21st - Jeanne D'Arc
Aug 28th - Blue Dragon
Sep 10th - The Elder Scrolls IV: Game of the Year Edition(PC, Xbox 360)
Sep 17th - Eternal Sonata
Oct 1st - The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Oct 9th - Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
Oct 16th - The Elder Scrolls IV: Game of the Year Edition(PS 3)
Nov 5th - Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Nov 20th - Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
Nov 20th - Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess
Nov 20th - Mass Effect

I have interest in most of these games! :)
