I bought it today! I also have a strategy guide for it plus a new white Nintendo DS Lite also. I was busy before work so I couldn't pick it up, then I was working and picked it up during my break. I'm done with work and just doing some random errands and will play it in like half an hour.

I've only seen the opening logos, opening movie, and the title screen. They are great!!!

I'll keep you informed throughout the night, it's going to be a long night! :)

EDIT:
The game is great!! I'm playing it now and I love it! It was worth the wait and the money for this. I get two days off from school/work to play this game. I feel like getting more DS games now, maybe Zelda? :)

I like the story in this game! After beating mission 1-4, one foe chases after the party and declares that he will attack them. He accidentally trips and falls down the stairs and gets knocked unconscious! :)

Trance Moogle, I recommend doing chores or a job and earning money so you can get the game faster. The game was just released and tons of people are playing it, why not join the fun now with us? :D

PureVampireD, it's only for Nintendo DS yes.

FF XII: RW is great! Yea it's worth the money to buy it. I;m about 2 hours into it and just about to start Mission 2-4 I think. The only signifigant issue so far is that when you have a group of units do an action(move, attack, harvest, forage), they are deselected! That means you have to press X or Y with your thumb or stylus to continue your actions. Why are they deselected, what's the advantage of this? I love the game! :)

The battle system is a very simple form of real time strategy.

I'm 5:03 into the game! I just finished Mission 2-4 and Tomaj's hunts 46 & 47(yea, the first 45 are the FF XII clan hunts) and Melee Battles 2/3/4. So far the story is "mission based" kinda I guess. You go from mission to mission but there's story in between and movies and you can buy stuff and talk to people and other stuff. So far the sidequests I know of are: Tomaj's hunts(like the clan hunts in FF XII), Melee Battles(basically you go into a level you beat and beat it again for exp/items/equipment and to complete that Melee Battle), and Midlight's Deep dungeon, plus getting bonus items and equipment and espers.

I think this game is going to take a long time!! Maybe 40 hours?! I'm going to complete it 100%. Is there anybody here who completed the Japanese version of the game? How long did it take you and how much sidequests did you do? I really love the choice of music for the save/load game screen! It's the song that plays in FF XII when you warp to the Sochen Cave Palace orange save crystal. That song is not the Sochen Cave Palace song of the Old Archades song but a different song. I just researched to find the name of the song. It's "Time For A Rest" from Final Fantasy XII cd 3 track 16.

I really like the use so far of the Phon Coast song from Final Fantasy XII! I'm really impressed with this game. I'm happy that on the poll on the front page of Rpgamer.com, FF XII: RW beat out Mass Effect, FF XI: Wings of the Goddess, and Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus in the "Thanksgiving rpg releases" poll! :)

My friend is going to buy it for me after a few weeks, he's kinda busy with college and I dont have enough money to purchase it at the moment, and by the time I can collect enough, the time for my friend to buy it for me will already be here. xD

Anyways, my parents are stingy about giving me cash for chores that I'm supposedly already needing to do. I hate raking leaves! XP

It came out on Tuesday, Target had it before GameStop in my area so I bought it there. On Thanksgiving I looked through the window of GameStop and it looked like on the DS section in the top shelf I saw a game that looked like it had a cover with a white background and the FF XII: RW logo on it. I don't think it was FF XII: RW though because that cover is different, or is there two different versions of the cover in USA? Maybe the game I saw was FF III? I wonder, the game was far away from me so I couldn't tell.

I love this game! :)

EDIT:
Here's a great quote that just happened at the very start of Chapter 4!

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
Ba'Gamnan(to Vaan): "Quit your jabberin', boy! When I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of ya!"
Me(to Nintendo DS): "This is great! :)!!!"

EDIT:
Yea the game has some flaws but I believe at it's core it's extremely enjoyable for me and the flaws it does have don't bother me too much. The rpgamer review came out and it's a pretty extensive review.

If your looking for another DS game pick up Legend of Zelda Phantom hourglass. Its really a great game

Yea I was thinking about adding The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. I'm moving through FF XII: RW too fast. At this rate I'll be done in like a week or a week and a half. I won't have money to get Zelda: PH or Alundra 1 until Christmas and my relatives might buy me one of those two games for Xmas.

I think I'll just finish this game and get back to some other hobbies for a few weeks, reading books and finishing up some random errands. I recently finished chapter 5 and when you do that all of a sudden 5 melee battles and 9 Tomaj's hunts open up at once! I'm working on those before I get to start Chapter 6. I'm 18 hours into the game, I got it on Tuesday, and I'm still thinking it will take 40 hours to beat it. Impressive! :)

Vaan or Filo have a magic/gambit that you can learn eventually to increase speed, although it might be an accessory you can equip. Go to rpgamer and read the review there also. Edit your currently playing list in your signature.

EDIT:
I'm 20 hours into FF XII: RW and it says I completed 50% of the missions/hunts/melee battles. I'm spending too much time on this game I'm playing it 2.5 hours a day right now! I'll be done after 40-45 hours(yea it's a long DS rpg!).

So far for FF XII: RW I give it 10/10 scores each for Graphics, Sound, Story, and Characters. For Controls and Battle System I give them each 8/10. If you want to add more points to the review then I have more. For "Polish" I could give it 9/10 and for "Length/Sidequests" I give it 10/10 so far. I've given you a basic idea of the high quality of FF XII: RW! :)

EDIT:
I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!! :)
So far, about 24 hours(60%) into it...
10/10: Story
10/10: Characters
10/10: Graphics
10/10: Sound
8/10: Controls
8/10: Battle System
9/10: Polish
10/10: Length/Sidequests

I'm immediately before the start of Mission 7-4: Aegyl Uprising - The Skies Of Lemurs, and this great quote was stated, and I love it!...
Cu Sith, Master Artificer: "This Nono...I do not like him. He thinks he's so cute with his wings and his pompom. Hrmph! He makes nice with Master Tomaj, but I see through his web of deception! If he thinks he'll get away with this, he doesn't know who he's messing with!"

EDIT:
I've been thinking about it, and I think that FF XII: RW is nearly as good as Final Fantasy XII was. That's an incredible accomplishment!! Remember that Final Fantasy XII is as bigtime as rpg's get, was on a console, was over 200 hours long, had a five year developmental cycle, and had the Yasumi Matsuno team developing it. FF XII: RW is a Nintendo DS rpg which was developed partly by Square Enix and partly by Think & Feel Inc, a company with less experience developing ultimate rpg's. I just finished Chapter 7(of 10) of FF XII: RW and it's an amazing experience! I suggest everybody drop what you are doing and get this game right now, you won't regret it! :)

EDIT:
Yea the controls/battle system need a little improvement but for me it's not huge. I'm extremely happy with the story and characters, which is very important.

Here's a quick tip. You have gambits set up for each character. Right now I have these gambits enabled during an attack...

Vaan - Dual Attack(Big single enemy attack)
Penelo - Curaga(Heals allies in range, yea it's supposed to be Curaja!)
Kytes - Blizzaga/etc(Big area effect magic)
Filo - Sonic Wave(Big area effect attack)
Lluyd - Jump(Big area effect attack)

But when there is no attack going on, you don't need to have attack gambits on, just change them to gambits that boost your status, like these...

Vaan - Sprint(Increase movement speed)
Penelo - Mystic/War Dance(Increase Faith or Bravery respectively)
Kytes - Charge(Increase power of next magic spell)
Filo - Glide(Increase group's movement speed)
Lluyd - Vanishga(Make all allies in range invisible)

Right before a battle, change the gambits back to the other version. This strategy works good. If you try to manually select the abilities and then select a target, it takes longer and it may not work if the target is too far away. If you just change the gambits, it works automatically and it takes less time.

Don't forget to target enemies with your proper units(Melee Water, etc). Don't forget to pull back allies if they are low on HP. Also, make sure to use "Fortify Esper" and keep summoning Espers! I've gotten used to the battle system, I like it!

EDIT:
I just finished Chapter 8! After this I talked to everybody in the Bridge and Sky Saloon sections of the airship, upgraded my equipment, and beat the two Melee Battles at Feol Warren. NINE new Tomaj Hunts just opened up!! I am going to beat all nine of them before I start Chapter 9. The characters are talking like I'm almost done with the game. I have to beat two more chapters, more hunts, more melee battles, the bonus dungeon Midlight's Deep, and some other stuff before I finish the game. I'm 76% done with the missions/hunts combined it says, and I'm 35:16 into the game. The game may take 45 hours to finish with 100% completion. Could it take close to 50 hours? We'll see, the game is pretty long for a DS rpg. I got a little confused on the story but I got some clarification recently from the characters. I'm going to work hard and beat this game. I think that the faster I beat the game(up to a max of 3 hours a day), the more fun it is, because then I don't lose track of the story and forget what happened earlier in the game, like if I had only played half an hour a day. After beating this game there's a book I am going to finish reading, and hopefully I'll get Alundra 1(1998 PS 1 action rpg) for Christmas! Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is great!!! :)

I got the game! I knew that it was coming but didn't realise that it was already release until Sunday. As soon as I found out I put on my shoes and had to rush to the mall since it was 20 minutes before close. I'm loving the game so far. At first I wasn't sure if I liked the battle system but it is starting to grow on me now that I've gotten a hang of the controls. I think I'm on Chapter 3 but I'm having trouble with that darn 'sneaking past the guards' mission.

Yea the game is great! If you do all the sidequests it may take 50 hours. The sidequests are: Melee Battles, Tomaj's Hunts, and Midlight's Deep Dungeon. I finished up Chapter 8(of 10) and am doing a ton of Hunts and Melee Battles right now. The game was worth the wait! :)

I got pretty excited about that part! Just wait until you finish Chapter 6! The story gets pretty insane after that point.

There's a double edged sword in regards to the sidequests. I think the sidequests are as long as the game! After finishing Chapter 8 I unlocked 2 Melee Battles and 9 Tomaj Hunts! I finished like 6 of those so far. I hope to finish the rest tonight and get started on Chapter 9! The location for Chapter 9 seems pretty great.

EDIT:
I'm getting closer to the end of the game now!!

I am 41:09 into the game and have completed 92% of the Missions and Tomaj Hunts. I just finished Chapter 9. I finished all 32 Melee Battles. I finished 32 Tomaj Hunts so far.

I have to complete 4 more Tomaj Hunts. I have to complete the 10 floor Midlight's Deep Dungeon. I have to complete Chapter 10, which is three missions long. The game is going to be nearly 50 hours long for a 100% completion rate!!

I still stand by the earlier ratings I gave to the game, which I'll post again here...
10/10: Story
10/10: Characters
10/10: Graphics
10/10: Sound
8/10: Controls
8/10: Battle System
9/10: Polish
10/10: Length/Sidequests

Again, I'm extremely happy about the quality of this game! Is there anybody here who has beaten the Usa version of this game with 100% completion rate(all 32 Melee Battles, all 36 Tomaj Hunts, all 10 floors of Midlight's Deep Dungeon) yet? I think I'm going to be on the earlier side of the scale as far as how long it takes for people to beat it. I didn't beat Final Fantasy XII until early November of this year(about 90% completion rate) but I'm going to beat Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings in three weeks with a 100% completion rate! Everybody, please post your thoughts on the final stages of this game and your experiences with it! :)

EDIT:
The final ultimate missions require some leveling up. I tried to beat it and work hard but I need to level up more. Luckily each time I complete the final(#32) melee battle, atleast one character levels up. Also, it only takes 10 minutes to beat that. I'm working on preparing for the Wings of Midnight hunt. In this one I have to defeat Titan, Ramuh, Shiva, Ifrit, and then Bahamut!!!

I've got four hunts to do and then the final 3 story missions. After that the 10 level Midlight's Deep Dungeon opens up. Ok, the game is going to take 55 hours maybe!! The game is great, I'm really excited about it. I hope I don't have to level up for more than another hour, because I want to continue the game and finish this levelling up. Also, it's annoying that Balthier and Fran haven't had many great Gambits in the early/mid stages of the game. Because of this I didn't level them up as much and use them. Now I'm at the end and they are about 5-8 levels behind the other characters and still need to get 2 Gambits for them. I want to continue levelling up and playing this game! :)

EDIT:
The time to beat this game keeps going up! I levelled up for an hour yesterday and was finally able to beat the 3rd and 4th to last hunts. Now I have two more hunts, some levelling, then the 10 level Midlight's Deep Dungeon, and the final three story missions. The game may take 60 hours for 100% completion! I'm trying to remember how many hours for the main part of the story, maybe 30?

EDIT:
Ok, I finished my task of repeatedly levelling up in the final Melee Battle at the Gate of Shattered Time. I finished some hunts so I only have two left. I'm in the Midlight's Deep Dungeon. I finished the first 7 out of 10 floors! So far they had some challenges but weren't extremely hard yet. I will finish this Dungeon and the final two hunts. Then I'll do some random final stuff and finish the last 3 missions of the game. This is a 60 hour game with all sidequests and maybe 30 hours with none of them. How long was Zelda: PH with/without sidequests?

EDIT:
This game is pretty insane! I just beat Yiazmat!!! :)

I finished the ten floor ultimate Midlight's Deep Dungeon. The final level has the Yiazmat boss. Yiazmat was tough, but my strategy was good. Using Odin helped me out, yes Odin is an Esper, hooray!

Now I have to finish the last two Tomaj Hunts, just do some quick preparations, then the final three story missions. I think the game will take 58 hours! :)

EDIT:
I will beat the game tomorrow!! Here's what I did tonight...

I finished the last two Tomaj Hunts(to get the Zodiark and Gilgamesh Espers).
I finished my random preparations, which is a bunch of random stuff I don't wanna list.
I reviewed the game's story on the bulletin board thingie.
I reviewed the encyclopedia stuff, the mission summaries, and the log entries.
I reviewed the entire strategy guide I have, including the story for each mission.
I reviewed both strategy guides for FF XII: RW on Gamefaqs.
I reviewed the Wikipedia article on FF XII: RW.
I browsed the official Japanese website and the official English website.

Tomorrow night I will complete the game! I am 55:33 into the game, with just the three story missions to go(Missions 10-1 to 10-3). Oh, I've beaten all the Tomaj Hunts, Melee Battles, and the Midlight's Deep Dungeon. I've leveled up, learned all magic, and learned all quickenings. I got a ton of money and auricite and material, and all Espers. I got the best Weapons and Armor and all the Accessories. I got all the Mementos. I'll have a truly 100% completion on the game, which will get me the Hidden Secret Ending!!! There are many Rank III Espers but I think the most powerful and ultimate ones are: Odin, Gilgamesh, Zodiark, and Bahamut. Also, I think that Yiazmat is the toughest boss I've fought yet. Odin and Bahamut are my favorite Espers!

I still stand roughly by my specific ratings for the game I posted. I'll finalize those ratings once I finish the game though. Most aspects of the game's design are perfect. A few aspects have some flaws but are still very high quality. Overall the game is fantastic! I'm listening to the music from the Ring of Pacts section of the game menu, it's great. Especially once you get to the "chorus" of the song, where it gets ultimate! Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is legendary! I've had a really great time with this game!! Has anybody else here finished the English version of the game with a truly 100% completion rate, beating all sidequests and all the other random stuff? What does everybody think of the game?

I'm really excited! I'm beating Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings tomorrow with a 100% completion rate!! :)!!!

GamePro Magazine has issued their review of Revenant Wings in their December 2007 issue (231.) They give the game an overall 4.50/5.00 "Fun Factor." It says it has a great story with excellent background graphics. However, they're not entirely fond of the "blocky" sprites, or the look of the game due to the "small DS screen." It compliments the battles, saying "Thankfully, the A.I. is nowhere near as idiotic as it was in Heroes of Mana, making battles actually fun..." Final verdict: "...Square Enix can deliver a good titel that doesn't fall back on RPG conventions."

I finished missions 10-1 and 10-2 and am right about to complete the final mission. It's Mission 3 - "Revenant Wings". The name of the mission is the name of the game! I won't use the last two Espers, I'll dismiss them and summon more Wyverns instead, but Aquarius and Quetzacoatl still have the fortune of being chosen as benchwarmers for the final battle! I beat the game! I beat Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings!!! :)

It took 68 hours for a truly 100% completion rate! I had to level up my characters continously in the Midlight's Deep Dungeon(50,000 exp for main 5 characters and 10,000 exp for the other 4 characters). I used: Lluyd, Filo, Kytes, Penelo, and Basch. Filo was at a lower level than the others but the top 4 I had at an average of level 76.5! That levelling up took a while, because I wanted to be properly prepared for the final battle. Also, I completed all the Recipes for forging weapons!

Here's a tip, in the final two chapters, focus on levelling up those 5 characters I listed specifically. This is because those are the characters that you will use in the final battle, and you don't want them to be far behind the other characters in development. They should be high, around level 70 maybe. Also, you are going to need some Gems(Materials) for each of the four main elements to use the Recipes for forging the ultimate weapons. Even completing everything you will not get enough of it. What you need to do is level up at Midlight's Deep Dungeon and complete the first 6 levels. The 6th level has treasure chests that gives you those Gems, which you need. After beating the 6th level, you can start over, or complete the final four. Completing the final four levels of Midlight's Deep Dungeon will take longer than doing the first six. At the end of Level 10 you beat Yiazmat, get a huge upgrade(this is repeatable) for Vaan's ultimate sword Anastasia, and get some of those Gems. If you are not worried about the Anastasia upgrade and just want to quickly get levels and Gems, just repeat the first 6.

The final level was amazing! It's a two part level called "Revenant Wings". The first half of it is the main part of it. Use Lluyd, Filo, Kytes, Penelo, and Basch, with all the top equipment. I used for Espers Bahamut, Wyvern, and Carbuncles. Don't use Rank I Espers. Fortify all three of those Espers four or five times. In the start of the level dismiss your Rank I espers. Then summon Bahamut into Basch's group, it'll be those two in a group. I gave Penelo four or five Carbuncles. Kytes was by himself. Lluyd and Kytes both have tons of Wyverns. Have everybody attack the left arm of Feolthanos and the monsters summoned there. Have Basch and Bahamut stand closer to the stairs though. Basch and Bahamut can fend off attackers by themselves, as the enemy Espers approach them from the stairs and from the right arm. Yea, Basch and Bahamut are extremely powerful in FF XII: RW. As Lluyd and Filo get their Quickenings, dismiss their Wyverns and put them into another person's group, one at a time, so that all five leaders get their Quickenings. Save all those Quickenings for later. Once you beat the left arm move to the right arm of Feolthanos. Have Basch stand near the stairs with Bahamut and fend off monsters coming down the stairs. Have Lluyd, Filo, and Kytes attack the right arm and the monsters nearby it. Have Penelo between those three and Basch, healing everybody. After beating both arms and disabling both enemy summoning gates, fortify all three Espers you are using four or five times and make sure all five characters have Quickenings. Don't forget to immediately revive leaders if they die. If Penelo and Lluyd both die, you probably will need to restart the level, don't let them both die.

Next, have Lluyd and Filo's group climb the stairs and attack Feolthanos' torso and the monsters summoning their. Watch them! When monsters appear, attack them one by one until they are gone, then continue attacking Feolthanos. Oh, also you should have moved Bahamut from Basch's group to either Filo or Lluyd's group. While Filo/Lluyd's groups are on the stairs, have Penelo and her Carbuncles and Kytes and Basch stand on the ground to the right of the platform. They should not be in the top floor or the stairs or at the bottom of the stairs, but at the ground to the right of Feolthanos. They can heal the allies and do ranged attacks. Watch Feolthanos' HP. When it gets to 60%, move either Filo or Lluyd's group next to Penelo/Kytes/Basch, and out of the way. Move the group that doesn't have Bahamut, I'll explain why. Leave the Bahamut group to attack Feolthanos. When Feolthanos gets to 50% HP he'll summon an enemy Bahamut and other Monsters. Immediately(Immediately!) when this happens, have the Bahamut group run quickly away down the stairs and to where everybody else are, they should not be at the bottom of the stairs but where the other allies are. After commanding them to move, use three Quickenings! Use the ones for Basch(protection), Filo(Haste), and Lluyd(Fortify Espers) immediately!! Feolthanos will shoot out his ultimate attack of a white light in a line extending from him, which does extreme damage. It kills or severely damages anything in it's pathway. If you are not levelled up and not fortified or have low HP, everybody could die all at once! That's why you need to level up before this battle, fortify your espers in the battle, select the proper leaders and Espers, prepare your Quickenings and use your status enhancing abilities. Move everybody out of the way, and lure the enemy Bahamut and his group out to fight you. Use Kytes Quickening on Bahamut. Don't use Penelo's Quickening yet, even if many Espers have died or have low HP. After Bahamut is gone and those Monsters die, use all your Status enhancing abilities to power yourself up. Then wait until Feolthanos uses his White Light type attack, then once he did that, go up the stairs and attack him. Leave Penelo and her Carbuncles and Kytes and Basch in the hiding place to the right of Feolthanos on the ground, to use their ranged attacks and not be harmed. Have Lluyd and Filo's group of Wyverns and Bahamut and those two go up the stairs and attack Bahamut. Make sure you keep summoning Espers and fortifying them. Feolthanos will hit you with his ultimate attack. Once he does that, immediately(immediately!) use Penelo's Quickening, which you have wisely saved until now. Then continue to hit Feolthanos and beat the level!

Then you get to the second half of the level. The part right before the fight is extremely ultimate and reminds me of when you talk to Kefka before beating Final Fantasy VI. You start out using only Vaan to attack Feolthanos. Use Vaan's steal abilities on Feolthanos. When Vaan gets to 50% hp all 8 other leaders appear and you all attack Feolthanos in his final form. This battle doesn't take long. Just make sure not to let Vaan die. Also, use Vaan's abilities. The ending of the game is extremely ultimate and one of the very best ever. The final cutscene is great and gives ultimate cool info. We may get a sequel!

I think this game may be better than Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, and I mean overall not just a pound for pound comparison considering that FF XII: RW is a DS game and FF XII is a PS 2 game. FF XII: RW may be overall better than FF XII! It's an amazing game, and my earlier ratings I gave to FF XII: RW still apply...

10/10: Story
10/10: Characters
10/10: Graphics
10/10: Sound
8/10: Controls
8/10: Battle System
9/10: Polish
10/10: Length/Sidequests

The game took 68 hours with 100% sidequests and completion rate! At the end of the game it lists your mission completion rate, Ring of Pacts completion rate, and Recipe completion rate. Get all Recipes! It's part of the 100% completion rate requirements. Get those Gem Materials at Midlight's Deep floor 6 and floor 10. Also there are some Gems in the final Melee Battles on Ivalice I think. I rate games out of 7 stars and I give this game a 6 out of 7 stars. It actually wasn't too far from 7 stars, just needed better controls/battle system basically. The Polish rating was 9/10 mainly because you had to buy and sell stuff one at a time, and all other rpg's have you able to do multiple sales at one time. I've only given 6 games 7 out of 7 stars by the way. This game was amazing and I beat it just on time, Christmas Eve, considering my relatives might have bought me a game for Christmas(Alundra 1, FF I(PSP), or FF Tactics(PSP)). But I am on vacation and won't get their present until a week and a half probably, so I'll read in the meantime I think.

My final thoughts are that this game was legendary and I loved every minute of it! Everybody who loves Rpg's should drop what they are doing and buy this game. Even people who don't follow rpg's but have a DS should try this game also. I wish their was a sequel to this game, hopefully there will be one. The final battle was so fun that I think that I'll continue to beat it just for fun. It reminds me of the Final Fantasy VI final battle, it was so cool! I love Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings!!! :)!!!

http://forums.eyesonff.com/final-fantasy-xii/112297-who-bought-final-fantasy-xii-revenant-wings.html

I listed all of the sidequests. Make sure you don't forget to get all Recipes! Get the strategy guide from the store. Play the game a bit, what do you think of the review I did for this game? What was your reaction when you opened a Christmas gift and you found out that you got Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings? Who got you that gift?

I just bought today the PSP Media Manager program. I don't really need it except for converting video files on my pc to .mp4 files for my PSP, but I could have gotten free software online for that part. Oh well, hopefully this is good. I already have a cable to plug the PSP into the PC, and it also charges up the PSP. I'm ordering tonight from internet a composite cable(s) for PSP to connect it to the tv. I wanted to buy FF I or FF Tactics but I may get that as a gift hopefully.

Tell me more of your thoughts on FF XII: RW! Has anybody here beaten the Usa version of FF XII: RW with a true 100% completion rate, and if so, how many hours did it take you and what levels were your top leaders at? :D

Yea the game is great. When I played the game I did all the Tomaj Hunts and Melee Battles as they came up. Almost all the levels were normal or easy difficulty. Some of the chapter ending battles were difficult though. Also, the missions in the final chapter, the final Tomaj hunts, and some of Midlight's Deep Dungeon were a bit harder.

What mission is everybody on? Make sure to follow the advice I posted in this thread here(and the equivalent thread on forums.eyesonff.com website). I have beaten the game four times so far, for fun! :)

Agent0042, I think EyesonFF has more posts but FFshrine has better posts. I prefer this site. Knegative what is GD?

Mission 6-2:
User water espers, preferably Leviathan. Use Mythril Gloves on Lluyd to prevent Lamias' Confuse attack. Start by summoning Leviathan or other melee Espers(preferably water). Send them(not Vaan, who must protect Fran!) to engage the 5 Lamias to the left of the map. Then follow up with the other teams to attack the other enemies next the summoning gate in the middle of the map. Defeat the Lamias first, they confuse you. And also take out the enemy units who are healers after this. While this happens, Vaan must protect Fran and defeat the Ramihs. It's better if Vaan has Cuchulainn's in his group instead of Sahagins. :D

Oh, Dragonsoul, I don't disagree with you. As I indicated, I mainly just lurk there. But I have a friend there who hosted a particularly good fanfic that I agreed to do some work for. And, well, I'm sorry, but EyesOnFF's forums have a Kingdom Hearts section, and despite my valiant attempts to get one started here, we don't have one. And so I've started the Kingdom Hearts Rumble there.

Oh, and "GD" is General Discussion.

Erm, yeah, topic. I will definitely see about saving up and getting a DS, so I can play this game. Christmas money isn't an option, because I didn't really get much Christmas money.

Knegative, if I were to get any other, it would be Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, or Final Fantasy V or VI Advance. I don't really have any majorly fond memories of III, so unless you can present a compelling case for it, I don't see myself getting that one (at least not along with the system, but perhaps sometime in the distant future.)

ThroneofOminous

If you're not a fan of the original FFIII, you won't like the remake. It's basically the same except with slightly (emphasis on slightly) better character development and a better job system. The DS doesn't really have a great library of RPGs at the moment, although I would recommend Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time and Final Fantasy IV DS (having almost finished making my way through the japanese version) once it's released.

As for Revenant Wings, I just don't see the appeal of a RTS RPG. I may pick it up after a few price drops but I'm not too keen on encouraging SE in its endeavor to tack superfluous sequels onto all its main titles. Although I could avoid that by getting it up second hand, I guess.

Well, I didn't know you had played the original III, Agent, you connected dude you ;) I was under the assumption that you never had the opportunity to play it like a good number of us.

Chain of Memories is ACE in my humble opinion, so you're definitely on the right track. The port of VI is very decent, if annoying in the changes to the dialogue. I'm not saying they aren't improvements, I'm saying it bugs me because I know where they all are and it gives me the mental hiccups :p

V Advance is probably your best bet, though, being the rabid fan you are :)

Well, I'm a rabid fan of both Kingdom Hearts and FFV, though the thing that may sway it is the fact that I've read the Chain of Memories manga, so I already know its story, and therefore don't need to play the game to know what it's about.

Yes, I have played III, once, I think maybe three or four years ago. It's been a long time, though I do recall that it had a less fully-formed version of the Jobs system that would eventually show up in FFV.

Neg
01-06-2008, 12:07 PM
To say the least. Basically it's just a second leveling system. V is great in that you can bring abilities from job to job, and use two when you're in your default jobs. III just has you leveling them up to say you did =/

V's system seemed much more ingenious to me after playing III, for sure. Though, III was really good for where it originally fell in the series progression. I ended up liking it quite a bit.

Chain of Memories's gameplay is somewhat unique (it's been done in other series, notably a series on the gamecube whose name escapes me at the moment) in that you manipulate cards AS you're battling. I ended up liking that BUNCHES. If you've read the manga, though, you're right in that you should only get it if the gameplay piques your interest.

Harkus, do you mean that XII itself is better than Revenant Wings?

Or that XIII is better?

The latter doesn't make sense, as XIII isn't out yet. The former, I will agree with wholeheartedly. I only made it several battles into the game before i found it to be rather sloppy in execution. However, I realize that part of my opinion is derived from the fact that I am not very successful at strategy-type RPGs.

For someone who rather enjoys them, it might be a spectacular game, as it clearly was for Dragonsoul.

Therefore, I'm withholding judgement and will simply say that the game wasn't for me.

Read all my posts in this thread about this game, see how highly I praised it? I think I underrated this game! I think I should move it up in my rankings! I think maybe this game can get on the PERFECT list...

List(may need updating)...
1. Final Fantasy VI
2. Chrono Trigger
3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past
4. Final Fantasy VII
5. Final Fantasy X
6. Final Fantasy Tactics

FF VI I played again Spring 2006, it stood the test of time and totally destroyed everything by far, including Chrono Trigger, which isn't close but is the only game with a chance of attempting to compare with it. I beat CT again Spring 06 and it also stood the test of time, destroying everything by far, except for FF VI. I beat Zelda 3 again in Spring 06 but it was really great but a bit older now, maybe I should move it down to #6? I have beaten FF VII and FF X only once, when they were out, they should still be extremely high quality now. I think maybe I should add FF XII: RW to the list, just under FF Tactics probably(or maybe slightly ahead of FF Tactics but probably not, these two games are so close in quality level).

The first FF game for each console is always dominant...

Final Fantasy I(Nintendo)
Final Fantasy IV(Super Nintendo)
Final Fantasy VII(Playstation 1)
Final Fantasy X(Playstation 2)
...upcoming Final Fantasy XIII(Playstation 3!!!)

Anytime I think of rpg's it seems that frequently I think of FF XIII, I won't be happy until FF XIII comes out and I play it but I won't be 100% happy until I...

1. Get the special edition game and special edition strategy guide the day it comes out
2. Beat the game to a true 100% completion rate
3. Buy the soundtrack, singles, demo possibly, art book possibly, ultimania possibly

...this should be in the FF XIII forum probably :)

I have it and play it. I must admit that I'm too fast. I began playing it on Friday and already have 50 % finished. << But I want to have Basch on my team finally! >.<

Currently I'm pissed off by the game. I am not a person for strategy games. So I am stuck. I tried mission 6-5 about five times now and I am just too stupid for it. '-' I have my party members at lv. 30 but still I'm too weak (or too stupid... I suppose stupid).

But the story is okay and the characters are also okay. Although I was quite pissed off when I started and there were only kids in my team. xD" I think Kytes and Filo were a bit.. well, too childish? I disliked them first. But I've grown used to them. Although I'd like to have Tomaj on my team. He seems to be more mature.

Oh and what is also important: Ubernoob's right. The gameplay is just weird. Why the heck am I not allowed to have potions?! I hate waiting for Penelo to heal everyone. -.-

Great that you got the game! :)

The game is incredible! Are you going for a 100% completion rate? You need to do all the recipes to get a 100% completion rate, don't forget this. I'll help you with your questions you have. Read my posts in my thread for lengthy information, and a review I made of the game.

Mission 6-5 strategy:
Use Earth melee espers like Golem and Titan to counter the Sagittarius's. Use a Fire flyer to fight the Goblins and Golems and the Titan. Use a Wyvern. The only ranged Espers you need are healing units since there are no enemy flyers. At the start of the mission make Balthier and Ba'Gamnan's units attack each other, by tricking them. Send four Wyverns, with no leader, north torwards Balthier. They will trigger the appearance of Sagittarius enemies. Immediately turn to the west to Ba'Gamnan. The Wyverns will die but the Sagittarius's will end up fighting Ba'Gamnan's troops, this makes the battle easier for you. Summon melee espers, go attack Balthier and Fran, but focus on Balthier! I summarized this from the strategy guide. I can answer more questions you have.

What do you think Finicella? :)

Finicella
07-03-2008, 11:24 AM
Strangely I did it yesterday. Don't ask me how. I think my strategy was that I didn't send any group leaders to the battle, but let the Espers fight all.
I also heard of the strategy in which Ba'Gamnan should fight Balthier, but I was not skilled enough to manage that. xD

I also got the 7th chapter completed. And now I finally got Basch in my group! *yippie!*

@Dragonsoul: Yep, I plan to have 100%. I do every mission there is (even these in which you just have to eliminate the monsters... boring). ^^
By the way, I heard that there is a good and bad ending, similar to X-2. Is that right? (You seem to be a master of this game, so it would be best to ask you. ^^)

Finicella, this is pretty good stuff, I don't recommend not using your leaders because they have special abilities that the Espers don't have. Basch is cool, he's a judge now and has a new costume. Yea do all the missions and side quest stuff, don't forget the recipes though. If you do a 100% completion rate, you get the secret ending, which is worth the effort. Mooglemage it's great that you got a 100% completion rate, that's great! Slavka, the secret ending is great. You can watch it on Youtube, but try to get it in the game though.

And yes, I'm the master of this game I think! :) I sold my Xbox 360 to round up some money to get a Nintendo DS. I got that DS and the FF XII: RW strategy guide the day before the game came out. Then I got Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings the day it came out. I played it for two hours each day for five weeks to finish it. I completed the side quests with a true 100% completion rate to get the secret ending. I posted a ton of info on this forum and the Eyesonff.com forum in FF XII: RW threads I made. After beating the game I played the final battle some more times since I loved it. I gave the game a 9.5/10 score, I loved the game, and was totally on top of the game from the day it came out until I finished it 100%, it was a great experience! :)!!!

I haven't been able to do this with all my rpg's(buying it the day it comes out, play it two hours a day nonstop, finish with 100% completion rate) recently, for various reasons...

2007
Eternal Sonata(9/10): Started playing within two weeks of release, played it nonstop, finished with a near 100% completion rate.
Final Fantasy XII(9/10): Bought it 1.5 months after release, had many periods of weeks where was delayed and I didn't play it, finished 25 hours short of a 100% completion rate, since I had to beat it by the time FF XII: RW came out.
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings(9.5/10): Bought it the day it came out, played it two hours a day each day, finished with a true 100% completion rate to get the secret ending.

2008
Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos(8/10): Playing this game six years after it came out, played it each day, but didn't do the custom scenarios since I wasn't excited about it.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions(10/10): Got the game three months after it came out, played it each day, but skipped all Melee missions, all Rendezvous missions, most Errands, and a lot of the job mastering, since even though it's my 5th favorite game, I didn't feel like doing all that stuff.
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne(8/10): Playing the game 5 years after it came out, played it each day, but didn't do the custom scenarios since I wasn't excited about it.
Alundra 1(9/10): Beating the game 10 years after it came out, played it each day, finished about 2/3rds of the sidequests.

2008(upcoming)
Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core(on track for 8/10): Bought it two months late, playing it each day except for a 12 day period, finishing 50% of the missions but doing the rest of the side quests.
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift(on track for 8/10): Bought it the day it came out, playing it most days, but probably will skip most of the sidequests and mastering of jobs, so I can move on with other games.
Final Fantasy I(PSP): Buying this game late, but will play it each day, and since it's a main Final Fantasy numbered title, will finish it with a true 100% completion rate.
Final Fantasy II(PSP): Buying this game late, but will play it each day, and since it's a main Final Fantasy numbered title, will finish it with a true 100% completion rate.
Final Fantasy III(DS): Buying this game late, but will play it each day, and since it's a main Final Fantasy numbered title, will finish it with a true 100% completion rate.
Final Fantasy IV(DS): Buying this game late, but will play it each day, and since it's a main Final Fantasy numbered title, will finish it with a true 100% completion rate.

My first game of 2009 is going to be Starcraft 2. I'm going to be following the information and news about it on the internet. I'll upgrade my pc specifically for it, buy the game at midnite the day it comes out, then play it 2-3 hours a day nonstop to finish the game, then finish all the custom scenarios. I'll read and post on threads for the game online, and will play many multiplayer online games of Starcraft 2. I'm looking forward to this a lot!~

So Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is one of the games I'm playing that I'm totally on top of and dominating. It's great when you can do something like this! I'm excited about this topic so I posted this long post, I hope you enjoy this post. :)

I haven't played it and I won't because I'm not going to buy a console, albeit portable, for a single game and as far as I'm concerned it's the only game I'm even remotely interested in on the DS. Perhaps just my personally feeling but Nintendo has plummeted downhill.

Shame, because I was interested in the game and I love playing RPG or RTS games on portables. Wish it had come out on PSP to be honest.

Aqueous, what do you think of Heroes of Mana and Blue Dragon Plus? They are the other two real-time strategy rpg's I know of. This is a new rpg subgenre.

I'm pretty excited, it's nice! :)
