Hey, jw what everyone's thoughts were on this upcoming Square/Disney game. I'm having my doubts, because Disney's gaming record is almost all plotless platformers designed to entertain 8 year olds. But then again, Square is a freakin RPG powerhouse, so its hard to tell. I think it'll be hard for me to get any emotion from a game featuing such floppy disney classics as mickey and goofy. If i can't feel what the character is, and get an impact from it, i find it hard to really get into a game.

Well actully i've watched some trailers and it dosen't really matter if it has disney charaters i mean comeon you get to see cloud and squall spozed up to PS2 grahpics and i think theyve made cloud cool ,what with the wings and all. you haven't actully play it.say like FF12 main charater had a flower as a weapon would you say it STINKs beacuse he/she dosen't carry a gun or sword.

And the moral of this post isssssssss:DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.but in this case: don't let mickey and minnie put you off its actully a quite good game.and i think one of the charaters is actully sephiroth as a teen{but im not sure will just have to see when it comes out:D } and if you don't know what i mean by "what with the wings on cloud made him even cooler" heres what he looks like in the game:)

It just makes me mad that they've done this. I mean cloud etc are in a different game, a different story. But how? It doesn't make sense? Sephiroth as a teenager?! But he was in SOLDIER then. Seriously this game is going to destroy the great characters we know now. Don't buy it. Hmm.. if were just SQUARE, then maybe i'd buy it but since crappy disney is in on it also it shall suck IMO.

The character would be much popular in different way.....maybe.

Kingdom Hearts looks to be a promising game. I think that it will be interesting. Just have to wait and see...

This got me REALLY ticked off when I heard about Kingdom Hearts!! I try not to judge games before I play them but Disney characters in an rpg?! That's an outrage! That's like rpg blasphemy! And to make it worse they put Final Fantasy characters in it! Disney characters and Final Fantasy characters in the same world?! What's next?! Disney characters in a Final Fantasy?!(If they did that I think I would have to shoot myself) I think Square has disgraced itself by making this "game"!

Im not sure about kingdom hearts it may be too kidyish. Im worried about it faliling

rip off ssm? Its an rpg. Its gonna be nothing like it...

If it goes according to plan, this thing will be JUST like Super Mario RPG was for the SNES...ONLY ten times better. more complex story....I mean, come on......better Graphics, of course, superior sound. plus, you get to use THE BESt controller in the history of gaming. As for the story...It seems to be a mixture of a childrens Fantasy and MIYAMOTO Nightmare, SQUAR-STYLE. "A RACE OF CREATURE THAT OUR OUT TO STEAL THE EHARTS AND SOULD OF THE POPULATION...." does that sound like a DISNEY kid-fest to YOU? not me. I Have yet to HATE a Square game. and Rememebr, THOSE OLD DISNEY games were done by CAPCOM and ACCLAIM, for crying out loud...on SNES, GENESIS AND NES....this will be great. I can't wait.

Dude, Kingdom Hearts i gonna rock. With FF a bunch of FF characters in one game, and Jimminy-(how do you spell it) Cricket, you cant go wrong. Plus graphics are awesome. Super Mario RPG was a kiddish game sort of and it rocked.

I watched a trailer of the game and it looked good, until I saw the Alice in Wonderland part. If the game gets good reviews and the story isn't too childish, then I might try it out. But why did square have too make it with Disney characters?, I'm sure that Square knows it would turn off most of it's FF fans? Awell, just have to wait and see I guess:(

The amount of time, effort and love that went into this game is beyond anything that SquareSoft has out. And working with Disney Interactive, they got it in the form of star power -- specifically celebrity voice talent. Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense and A.I. Artificial Intelligence) is going to voice the lead character Sora. "Haley was great to work with," continues Winters, "we are extremely excited to have him in the game." David Gallagher (Seventh Heaven is going to voice Riku and Hayden Panettiere (Ally McBeal, Remember the Titans) is going to voice Kairi. If you read this then I am even more anxious for the game to be released. I love that sixth sense kid.



The beautiful underwater kingdom of Atlantica. Sure all of this co-collaboration and celebrity voice talent is pretty cool, but how is the gameplay? Phenomenal. The game is truly one of a kind. The story is told via in-game cinematics and dialogues between characters. Gameplay is like other SquareSoft titles -- Sora and his party explored various areas and interacted with various other characters -- in our game we met up with Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy and Squall. In addition to Disney characters, players will meet up with characters from previous SquareSoft games. The mixture of the two worlds actually works really well. Combat is handled real-time. Combined with a cool lock-on system, players can run around and attack at the same time. In addition to regular attacks, Sora and his party can execute magic through the use of elemental spells and summons. Throw in a rotating camera that players can control and the ability to go into first-person perspective at any given time, and you have the makings of one truly epic role-playing game -- a game that is certainly worth waiting for.


Sounds like a Zelda or Secret of Mana gameplay.

I had a chance to try a Demo of this Game recently...and it's Like Controlling the most Glorious classiclly animated film EVER. This will be one AMZING experience. I for one can hardly wait. as for just how glorious.....It looks JUST like the Disney films, with a touch of SQUARE. This may be the title of the year.

I believe this is going to rock ! The choice of characters doesn't matter...Disney character actually fit very well, if you think about it...Final Fantasy could easily be turned into an animated picture, so why not doing the opposite ?

Okay, so I haven't seen all the Disney movies, only the oldest ones ( I mean, come on, I'm 21, I don't go the theater to see them lol ) , but from what I've seen, it's definitely going to be one of the best, if not the best , RPG or even game of the year ! With Xenosaga delayed for 2003, that's pretty much the only option I've got for now, not that I'm complaining anyway.

I have watched the trailer last week... and when it was finished, I watched it again. Then, I watched it again. You see, I kind of enjoyed it.

There was something odd about it that I noticed... I was listening to a CD (Thank again, Nymph), and that was when I noticed that of you switch on the song "This is how it is" (Twarres, thanks Nymph, thanks), wait for ten seconds and then start the Kingdom Hearts trailer, it is like watching a music video, the music goes excellent with the pictures... scary, it must be magic. There is something fascinating about the game...

I liked the scene when Cloud enters the screen. I can imagine that cute little boy�s thoughts: "Wow, a real Squaresoft hero. I want to be like him!"

BUT I WANT DARKWING DUCK!

Im definitely goin to try it out. The character designs look great, and im expecting a lot from the battle system too.

Almost forgot to mention...the Game will have Vioce-acting, just Like FFX. In Fact, Sora, the Main Charachter, will be voiced by none other than HALEY JOEL OSMENT, of The 6th Sense.

I looks good, but I don't think I'll ever buy this game. I think square tries 2 aim at the younger gamers amung us by putting populair characters in the game that they know.

uhhh, maybe some people will appreciate it.. i heard bout this game on playonline.com i saw like the characters...they look kinda strange.. like tidus, selphie, and what not as kids..?! Like King Mickey..? O_o..? how strange.. maybe little children may appreciate.. or maybe not? i might rent it or not..who cares what i do?

I think even if most characters look like children / are children... FFVII�s Cloud just does not look even half as cool as Kingdom Heart�s Cloud! Whaaaa.... Yes.
The more I think of it... the more I guess... I will probably play this game one day. So what!!

Something new and original that might just reach the younger gamers and when they are older they will be playing Square RPG's while also giving the Square edge to the game making older gamers satisfied.

I'm really not sure what to think about this. The "Official Playstation Magazine" is doing a feature on it next month, so I guess that will help me make up my mind. From what I know about it, it seems like Square is aiming at too wide an audience. It's trying to get kids by making it Disney and trying to get us by making it an RPG with FF cameos. In the end, I don't know whether this will please both audiences or leave the kids saying "This game is too hard" and us saying "This game is too juvenile."

Like I said, I need to see more before I make a decision, but from what I know now it seems like this is what it boils down to:

Pros:

-Supposedly has somewhat challenging gameplay.

-Appearences by Squall (in a DISNEY game?! Squall "whatever" Leonheart in a DISNEY game?!), Cloud, Aeris (HUH??? How in the world... I don't want to say a spoiler but those of you who have played FFVII know my confusion), Sephiroth, Wakka, and Tidus.

Cons:

-It's Disney. You have to understand something here: I have several relatives who work for Disney, and have since come to the conclusion that Disney brainwashes its employees. My aunt once bragged that she was wearing 35 Mickey Mouses on her outfit. (Mickey print dress, Mickey necklace, etc.) Disney is SCARY.

-Appearence by Yuffie.

-Nightmare Before Christmas level. (Possibly the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life.)

-Probably aimed at young children.

-Did I mention Disney?

-Did I mention Yuffie?

-Disney

-Voice acting. I already have voices for Cloud, Squall, Aeris, Sephy, and Yuffie. I don't want to hear someone else's interpretation of their voices.

Hm...the characters look cool. I mean, have you seen Goofy? He looks all ghetto-ish...XD But seriously, the characters look cool...er, the Square characters anyway.

Voice acting..hm, can be good or bad. No in the middle, just good or bad..so far, it's leaning bad....Osmond is dumb. He should probably die, but I really don't have anything against him other than he's dumb. So whatever.

Graphics...I have to admit, they do look great.

Plot..well...I don't know, it's ok I guess..

Bottom Line: I'll rent it, just maybe..

Christy Romano (The 'Even Stevens' chic) will be voicing Selphie from FF8. (Well.... I suppose it fits...kinda...) :o

Yeah,Web's right about that,Christy Romano as Selphie, other than that, I think the game seems cool, unless you-1)hate Disney-2)are expecting it to be similar to any other square game.....I heard the camera was bad though,always too close up when you're fighting.....and I like that they ued disney characters as summons, the games is a disney game....but made by square,simply put....

Uh, well, I have to defend Kingdom Hearts for once. Even if it's the most horrible game on the planet, it won't be an abomination to the FF series. See, it's not actually an FF game. It's just a Square game with FF references, like that fighting game where you can play as FFVII characters.

Does anyone here subscribe to Official US Playstation Magazine and if so have you gotten your copy of October's issue yet? I just subscribed last month and I haven't gotten anything yet. I'm just asking because it's already in stores. Does it usually get sent to subscribers after being in stores or did they not get my subscription?

I think Kingdom Hearts is cool. A little for kids but cool.

Or maybe I just wanna kick the crap out of cloud................ for... no... apparent... reason.

At first i was like WHOA DISNEY AND SQUARE, FF CHARACTERS WITH DISNEY CHARACTERS.....THIS WOULD BE COOL! and yes it is true, its neat that they teamed up....i havent bought it and probably will not buy this game.....my friend bought it the day it came out and later that night i was chillin with him and we played some of it, i played a bit and watched him play even longer......i really dont like the fighting style of the game......its exactly like diablo, the faster you can hit the X button, the more kills u get, what kind of skill/strategy does that take? exactly none, thats why this is based towards little kids more than to us expierenced ff'ers or normal rpg'ers.....you dont need to plan any kind of strategy when all you do is hit X, just keep swinging that key, and you will eventually kill the heartless, not to mention 1 or 2 Munny and 5 hp things come from each monster "heartless" so you will never be low on hp....i think its a neat idea for a game....but i wont buy it.....im just going to wait until my friend beats it because he said he will loan it to me.....at no cost! meanwhile he shovelled $80 out for it so...but he likes it enough that he had no prob doing but, personal preference. he likes the action-adventure rpg more so than me. anyways those are just my 2 cents on the game.

Dude,you really are Clouds evil twin.Anyway if this game was a ABOMMINATION then why would Square and Disney put loads of work and time into this game:mad: .Anyway if it was really just for kids then they could have put MICKEY as the main charater and all square would have done is a few FMV scenes with Mickey saving Minnie from the evil king of whatever.Anyway this is truly an orginal game PLUS the battles amazing!,If your partys in danger your indicator(or the menu with "Attack,magic" ) turns from blue to red and the music changes into the battle music and theres and EXCLUSIVE 'lock on' system.The battles are all in real-time (just like FF:CCs battle are).So just like i said in the post i did earlier on"DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER" well some have got it since its out.I am SO gonna get this game!.So before i sign off i wonder what cloud would say to himself when he was going to be in KINGDOM HEARTS.......and no not "MAN THIS IS GAY!" maybe "Hey can these wings make me fly" but then again who know what he would have said.So if your not gonna buy it,at least get your butt to blockbusters or somewhere like that and rent it. :)
