I was wondering. I am at The Phon Coast right now. Would it be possible to get the zodiac spear now, or will I be raped if I try? Yea, it's kind of a noob question.

I'm thinking if you have to ask, you'll probably get raped. But a more helpful gauge would be for you to tell us your characters' levels and their progress on the License Board.

If you're at the Phon Coast, I sure hope you didn't open one single of the 16+ Chests that are stacked together somewhere on the beach there. Because if you did, then you'll have to go for the hard way. Which I know no one who managed to get it this way (Henne Mines).

Yea, sorry. My characters are all about level 40, lowest damage is 65, highest 87, the top portion of the license board is full for all characters (was that smart or not?), and some of the characters have the zodiac spear license. What 16+ treasure chests? I'm not sure what you are talking about, but I probably didn't. So I shouldn't go right now?

Probably too low.

I guess it's all right, so long as you've been keeping up reasonably decently on your weapon and armor licenses as well.

and some of the characters have the zodiac spear license. What 16+ treasure chests? I'm not sure what you are talking about, but I probably didn't.
A large collection of sixteen areas in one of the sections of the Phon Coast, somewhat remote and not off the beaten path. If you don't know what we're talking about, then it's safe to say you haven't opened them.

So I shouldn't go right now?
No, probably not.

At level 40 it's actually very doable. I was around level 35 (I decided to rush in to get the spear). The easiest way to do it, apart from knowing exactly which chest to open in the Necrohol and know how to walk exactly:

Have Bubble on everyone, Protectga, Shellga, Regen, Float. Then just rush in, rush back out. If someone does die, don't revive them untill you are on the next screen. Same goes if you lose any of your buffs.

This is the way I got my spear quite easily. Battling any of the monsters there is completely out of the question.

Agent0042
11-15-2007, 09:38 PM
Well, you're assuming the user has all of those spells, some of which I think are only available if you've been keeping up on the Clan hunts. Yeah, it's doable, but you have to be very careful. And yeah, you have to know exactly where it is, and of course, you have to make it there first, which requires having defeating both that King Bomb monster and the Crystalbug that guards the Gate Crystal there.

PUREvampireD
11-15-2007, 10:31 PM
Well I've killed the King Bomb, which was quite annoying, but I don't have bubble. Please, do tell when I get bubble. So should I go or not?

Agent0042
11-15-2007, 11:08 PM
I'm pretty sure Bubble is a reward available at the Clan shop for completing a certain number of Marks. Bubble doubles the character's HP as long as its active, so it would be rather dangerous to go without it. The Zodiac Spear's great, but you can only use it for one character. It's not something you really need to have.

I find that a bit of purposeful fleeing from the Baknamy, Imps and Elementals there helps you survive at roughly Lv. 35 for a decent amount of time. Probably enough to get the spear, I'd have thought.

And obviously, keep your positive status eects refreshed. Don't bother trying to be a hero though, as those Baknamy will destroy you if you fight more than 1 at a time.

There is a chest in the Henne mines that has a 10% chance of appearing and with the dimond armlet, 10% chance of having the zodiac spear
(i have the stratagy guide)

Agent0042

Yes, we're already aware of that treasure chest here, though everything I've read here says those odds are a lot lower than that.

you can make it through the necrohol at level 25-30 if you've got Bubble, protect, float, and shell. Just run like hell and don't kill anything. A tactic I read about and successfully implemented was to have just 1 character out at all times, and once he gets KO'ed, swap in another buffed character, reviving and re-buffing when you hit the next screen.

The Zodiac Spear is a strong weapon. Heck, in the guide, it says it's the strongest weapon in the game. But the strongest weapon you have in the game are your characters!

Of course, as long as they are properly leveled up, and have all the strong and useful spells.

It is better if you just level up your characters and not bother going after the Zodiac Spear. But if you feel that you must have to have the Zodiac Spear, then I suggest looking up for a guide about the weapon, and see if you are still eligible to get it at Necrohol of Nabudis. Don't even bother getting it at Henne Mines. You WON'T get it there, even if you have Diamond Armlet equipped.

Ok so I ignored agent0042 (sorry!) and went for it. I didn't do too bad actually. I got through the Necrohol of Nabudis and found that 16 chests thing. which chest is it? Oh, and my characters are now at level 46. I still don't have bubble, and for a hunt, I need to kill a golem thing in the Nebreaus Deadlands, or something. Where in the hell is that thing?? Thanks for all of the information guys!

At level 46 it's fairly easy. I did it around 30, was quite a tad harder iirc.

As far as the Nabreus Deadlands. There's a hidden path in the top left corner of the Slumbermead. That'll lead you to two new areas. You'll find the Golem in the second area.

use 1 character at a time, 1 dies...go to the next.
just flee to the zodiac chest

bubble is necessary,so is good armor, float may help(i think?)

i got the spear at lvl 25 with vaan. i lost at least 3 people per area, but i just revived them when i got to a new screen. the hard part is towards the end where the goblins and mines are together (if your going to the forest exit.)

Well, I'm at level 50 now, but I still dont know which treasure chest is the Zodiac Spear. Also, I found the 16+ treasure chests that Hynad was talking about, and 1 of them appear to be missing. I didn't open any of them, but for some odd reason, one of the chests are missing. Reasons?

I'd also like to ask if anyone knows which hunt give you bubble?

Agent0042
11-25-2007, 05:08 AM
Hmm, I don't know about the earlier question. But as for the latter, none. Bubble is a purchasable magic available at the Clan shop after having completed a certain number of Hunts. Offhand, I think it's either twelve or sixteen.

Hynad
11-25-2007, 03:38 PM
I didn't open any of them, but for some odd reason, one of the chests are missing. Reasons?

The reason must be that you opened one of the prior chests that you MUSN'T open in order to get the Zodiak Spear in Nabudis (One in front of Dalan's home, the other(s?) in the infiltration of the Banquet at the beginning of the game -- just before you meet Balthier and Fran).

Hynad
11-25-2007, 07:42 PM
Listen, in order to get the Spear that way, you have to open a specific chest in the mines a seemingly unlimited amount of times before you get it.

I personally know no one who managed to get it this way.

PUREvampireD
11-27-2007, 04:01 AM
Any idea where this specific chest is?

I personally know no one who managed to get it this way.

That brings a lot of hope for me. And is it for sure that I atleast have a percentage of getting it? Because I don't want to have spent 4654 hours trying to get something that I can't get. But thanks for all the info you've given!

Also, where is that shop that you buy bubble? Is it Montblanc? Because if it is, there is a problem. I'm on my 21 or something hunt. Thanks again!

Agent0042
11-27-2007, 04:46 AM
It is for sure that have a chance at getting it. But it's a rare shot of it even being there and then it when it is there, it's rare for it to have the Spear. According to this thread (Thread 35637) it's 1/10 for it to even be there, 1/10 for it to actually contain an item and 1/10 for that to be the Spear if it does contain an item.

As for the shop, you've never been to the Clan Shop? It's the one you were told about right around when you first signed up for the Clan. It's in the Muthruu Bazaar area.

PUREvampireD
11-28-2007, 01:38 AM
1% sounds good to me. This chest responds right? Because if I have to restart the game everytime i don't get it, I'm gonna be pretty pissed. Muthruu Bazaar area is in Rabanastre, right? I am such a newb.

terabyte
11-28-2007, 01:46 AM
Well, it's actually a 0.1% chance: 1/10 * 1/10 * 1/10.

I believe the chest does respawn, but 1) it is in a VERY difficult area to get through (think level 70+), and 2) you have to zone 3 screens to respawn chests, so it is probably quicker to reload.

the shop is in muthru bazzar which you can teleport to via the moogling teleport thingy, also defeating the ANTLION mark should earn you a bubble belt from the petitoner,(having this equiped cast's a bubble effect). and if you wanna get it from the bazzar, then you need to sell some rare loot.i think one of the things was an adamantite but im not sure how many and i cant remember what the other things were.

Yea I set up the gambit already. I found it MUCH easier to kill people when you don't have to worry about your health so much. I should have found this earlier...
Does Faith raise magic? It says on the description "Augments one magick" or something. Thanks.

Just wanted to let you know...
-characters are level 56-58
-ALL characters have fully filled their license board
-I'm in the Giruvegan area. Weird place...
