Girly pop-punk/alternative. “Shonen Knife” is actually surprisingly old band but I’m not rally that familiar with their elder work so I can’t compare. The best adjective to describe this would be “Japanese”.

Hardcore/Punk compilation including some great bands and some rather rubbish ones too. It’s not the best possible way to discover the wonderful world of Japanese HC but it’s the only Japanese compilation I own.

Gauze - Equalizing Distort

Of all HC-bands on this list GAUZE is probably the one most resembling its American counterparts. Not at all noisy or overtly fast, nice blazing guitar solos and catchy chorus lines, nice stuff. *DISTORT JAPAN!*

“Guerilla Incendiary Sabotage Mutineer”! This record is an American bootleg of their first album “Detestation” (tracks 1-8) and contains some selected compilation tracks. A strong Heavy Metal influence can be heard here, accompanied with surely one of the worst singers ever – a classic nonetheless :)

My personal favorite within the Japanese hardcore punk scene, it’s no use of even trying to compare this into any American hardcore bands you might know like Black Flag or Dead Kennedy’s, really distorted and loud. Grassroots-level anarchy and more importantly Noise!

Next we’ll descent deep into bowels of Japanese noise music scene, I have to admit right away that I’m not really that familiar with the Japanoise scene but at least I know that when talking about it you can’t forget the posterboy of the movement Masami Akita AKA Merzbow. This particular piece contains about an hour of tantric experimental music composed of heavy distortion and deep bass-lines, might be hard to get into but trust me compared to many other Merzbow releases - this is easy listening!

Here's another album. This ones's from Nightmare, entitled "The WORLD Ruler". It contains the songs "The WORLD" and "Alumina", The opening and ending from the Anime Deathnote. Hope you enjoy.

To get an idea what they sound like, here's a blurb from wikipedia about their style:
Most of their songs have a heavy metal element with a heavy bass line, tricky rhythms and changes in melodic keys. Although their recent songs have a slight avantgarde/alternative element (this is prominent especially in their "anima" album), the band has still kept its roots from their indies' days. They have also experimented with jazz, ambience, electronica, techno and bossa nova styles of music. Even though most of their songs are fast tempoed, they have written a fair amount of rock ballads as well.

Thank you for uploading this. For those who haven't downloaded it, it is a fun CD that can be dismissed by the casual listener as a sugary, worthless mess. However, what it is in reality is an incredible lighthearted accomplishment, which clearly benefited from good production value and a lot of enthusiasm on the contributors' part.

From what I can remember from a webiste featuring a list of all of Gackt's music, there's 1 double album he did, with 1 half featuring ballads, the other rock (such as "REDEMPTION", which became an all-time favourite of mine the minute I heard it)...does anyone have the rock album?

Oh, awesome! I've been looking for this one.
But when I extracted Part 1 from the RAR I was only able to get the first track...I'm not sure if the problem is with the file itself or my RAR decoder. If you could double-check the file, it would help a lot.

I just downloaded this and it worked fine for me. The problem might be your decoder (I'm using WinRAR), or you might need to have both parts before it will extract right.

Then again, I'm no expert on these things, so take that for what it's worth.

hmm maybe when you downloaded the file, its get cancelled or something like that. You should try to compare the filesize

Part 2 worked fine the first time I downloaded it.
I downloaded part 1 again just now, and it decoded fine. (I use PeaZip)

Does anyone have any globe music?
I lost a lot of my j-music a long time ago, the only thing I have left is the first disc of cruise record but not the second and I reaaaallly love globe. :( I'd be fine with any album of theirs.

I don't know if anyone uploaded any of her, but is anyone interested in Shiina Ringo? I have sooo much of her music.
I should still have some Ellegarden somewhere too if anyone likes them. I don't think I lost that.

Does anyone have any of the old, hard to find (at least purchasable) albums/eps by the pillows, in particular Pantomime, 90's My Life Returns, the singles Ame ni Utaeba or Kanojo wa Shisuta, or The Pillows Presents Special CD?
