Well we all know at the intro Yuna was LeBlanc but I never noticed the question mark which appeared on her (Yuna's) name.... did anyone miss that?

I had taken notice during my first playthrough.

The enemy's name appears whenever you select to do an action aimed towards them, so I believe you're in the minority here.

No, I'm almost certain tru001 is referring to something else. Specifically, the opening FMV intros. You know, where they show the scenes of the various characters in action and then it's flash freeze-frame and it shows the character frozen in the action pose with the character name next to it. Here:

And you can't see it in that screenshot, but there's this little question mark that sort of floats up. I don't think I noticed it the first time, either, but yeah, I did notice it eventually.

Yeah "Yuna?" comes up during the concert with "paine" and "Rikku". "Yuna"comes up properly when the real yuna does her little gun intro at the harbour shortly afterwards.

D'oh!

I should've read tru0001's post more carefully to eschew any misinterpretations, specifically to this:

I'll have to blow off the dust from my copy to check this out for myself, because that is definitely something I've missed, and for myself, this thread brought it to light.

I saw it the first time. Which is strange, I always miss these minor details.

I had never seen that before, actually. Ah well, you learn something new everyday, I suppose.

doesn't it say yrp at the gun thing and say yuna during the dancing

Agent0042

During the dancing, it said Yuna with the ? mark as described. Then later on, when the real Yuna showed up, it did both Yuna and YRP, as I recall.

Also, in that screenshot, "Yuna's" eyes are brown. The 'real' Yuna has one green and one blue eye, if it hasn't been too long since I've played X or X-2.

I don't know if that necessarily has anything to do with anything. I think that's just the colored-tin that's part of the freeze-frame.

You know... this may seem off-topic, but I've been wondering:

Why did Leblanc appear as Yuna when she had Yuna's garment grid? If she equipped Yuna's garment grid, her appearance should have still been the same(same blonde hair and looks)... except for her clothes, which is the songstress outfit in this case. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

No, I know what you mean. I think it's been mentioned before. It was never really explained in the game, but maybe a custom dressphere?

Minerva McGonagall taught Leblanc Transfiguration! ZOMG!

In all seriousness, it's most likely a skill that's unique to her. I'm certain the only reason she equipped herself with the Songstress dressphere was to attain Yuna's ability to, well, sing, as she had to be a believable imposter to the masses.

But Rikku and Paine also uses the same songstress dressphere, don't they? When they attain one dressphere, everybody uses it and none of them appear like each other.

That is possible. She can transform into anyone, or maybe anything, that she wants.

Awkward. More of the many plotholes that Square never actually solves. (Plus, how did Leblanc end up getting Jade's voice!?)

I tended to assume it had something to do with Lenne. It's not actually stated in the game's script, but Yuna mentions when she uses the Songstress dressphere that 'someone else's thoughts and feelings took over' or something to that effect. I suppose it's plausible that the appearance of Lenne, which is similar to Yuna, would also be 'taken on' by anyone else using the Songstress dressphere. So it may have been something unique to the Songstress d/s.

That said, Lenne's physical appearance whenever she appears in the game is noticably different, albeit similar, to Yuna's. So yeah, I could well be off the mark with my speculation.

Yes, there is a question mark. It's kind of like the "SEX" that appears in the Lion King - blink and you'll miss it.

Upon first playing, I was excited that they had re-cast the voice actress who played Yuna...but then it turned out to be a Yuna impostor. Oh well, Ms. Buress did a much better job the second time 'round.

That SEX thing is a false rumor. It says on Snopes that it's really "SFX" (for special effects) and I think that's true.

I always wondered if only yuna felt lenne's feelings. If they all used the songstress dressphere why would yuna need to explain the feeling to rikku and paine. And I also wondered how leblanc yuna and lenne had the same voice. I mean I know jade sings the song and everything but does that mean whoever uses the sphere gets lenne's voice. And also is it me o does yuna have 2 blue eyes in all the fmv scenes instead of one blue and one green.

Bullshit. That story sounds very much like it made up after-the-fact to save the animators' jobs. :)

Yuna feels Lenne's feelings because Lenne uses Yuna to find Shuyin, IIRC. She could have probably just as easily used Rikku or Paine, idk.

Bullshit. All of these weird rumors about sexual references in Disney films have come up because people are twisted. It's the same nonsense as this thread (http://forums.ffshrine.org/showthread.php?p=911055). None of them have been proven.

i think it is making a point of the player think ''is that really yuna'' so they wrote it as ''yuna?''.

It would have been so funny if lenne used rikku or paine just because shuyin looked so much like tidus. I always thought lenne and yuna looked similar for the sole purpose of shuyin mistaking yuna for lenne in the farplane no other reason.

I never understood how Leblanc looked like Yuna while wearing the songstress dressphere. Maybe she's a good cosplayer? It would make more sense if Leblanc turned into Lenne. Then I guess if Rikku, Paine, and Yuna wore the dresssphere you'd have three Lennes in battle. haha. Maybe it was explained how Leblanc looked like Yuna... I haven't played the game in awhile.

On my first play through I noticed the question marks and it confused me. At first I thought Yuna became old and senile.

tidusfan1

It along with a number of other things was not explained. But who cares it was a pop concert and they to have yuna singing and looking like a cool gunner at the same time. Why on earth did they think half the things they did in this game was a good idea.

It's a little late, but I was going through the old threads to make sure there wasn't one already like the one I'll be making in a day or two and I saw this thread. And since for the last couple days I've been messing around with the FMV's from this game I have it readily available so I thought I'd post a link for all those who haven't seen this.

the pictures pretty big cause I didn't feel like cropping it... sorry

Next time, just start a new thread. Also, I'm not sure what this really tells us-- we already knew about the question mark.
