On video games, we all notice the little white box in the lower left hand corner with the big black letter in it. The rating of a game. But do any of you really pay attention to it? Does it matter to you, or tell you anything of how the game's like? Gimme some opinions.

Mine is that I really could care. It's video gaming, and as graphic as it may get, it's our own decision of what we play.

If I like the game I buy it, no matter some rating which I don't pay attention to, besides even if I should pay attention to it, I can buy every game here since I'm old enough o_o

I don't care what the rating says. I own plenty of graphic games, movies, and CD's, and it doesn't bother me at all.

Me being a gamer and a guy that cares (O_o). I do play the games and pay attention to the rating as well. I have a few friends who has little brothers that like to go up to my room and play with my PS2. However, I don't keep the games that I feel shouldn't be played by them. (I would allow Mortal Kombat and Bio F.R.E.A.Ks, I won't allow GTA3... =P)

But otherwise, I would just see if it actually meets up with that rating... so yeah.

Nope as long as the game is good and i will enjoy it very much i don't look unless i'm bring games over to my aunts place where i can only bring games that are not teen or anything that 9 or 10 yr olds can play cause my uncle is so stingy with that. I can't wait until he is like 5 years older then i can bring my good games:Whatever:

Actually, I do pay attention to the ESRB ratings. They are there for a reason, in my opinion. Yes yes, goody goody me...

I've only once been in a position where my age has caused a problem when I've bought a game. I was trying to get Command and Conquer - Red Alert from a shop, and I was refused it. I sent my Mum in to buy it for me... I didn't know the game was an 18 until I checked the back of it. My Mum didn't seem to mind, as I'm stable enough to be able to tell reality from fantasy.

There are some games that I agree should be monitored for under age people (GTA, being one of them.) However, due to the above reason, I am not in the position to judge people who do buy them underage. It's only a rough guide, and as with videoes and movies and such like, it's up to the majority of the player and the parental judgement.

the ratings are pointless. i hated it when i wanted to get state of emergency, damn blockbuster. so i just went and bought it from a used game shop (they have new games for super cheap).

If i like it, i buy it. Like with FF7, since FF6 was so good, i bought it before i even looked at any mag.

I check ESRB ratings sometimes...If a game has an M rating it makes me want to play the game more.

I don't care, because I think they rate everything wrong.

(idiotic rant) Perfect Dark does not deserve an M. T is more like it. I didn't really notice the blood, swearing, etc, till I really paid attention.

Half-Life, well... does not deserve an M either. It's not at all scary and the gore is pretty fake. Oh, I'll be scared of a red polygon. If only there was a rating in between.... (/idiotic rant)

Nah, I go by magazines like Gamepro, if it looks good and has a decent story I could get Jax and Daxter or Blood Omen 2. Only groups like "We're outlawying "M" Games to people under 17 care. And ur local game dealer doesnt care either, lol.
