That's right, boys and girls, a Zelda movie is being made, but Nintendo does not want to endorse it. Check it out. The trailer is badass, but Link looks kinda... I-don't-know-what.

seen that 100 years ago lol you fool

The Hero of Time (The Legend of Zelda) is an full-length, independent Zelda movie being made by a small group of producers and film buffs called "BMB Finishes". They have been working on this movie for nearly three years, and it is now nearing completion. It is a fully independent production. All of the people making the movie are big fans of the Zelda series, and they have put a ton of creativity and effort into this film

How the heck will they be able to even release the film considering that Nintendo owns all the copyrights to all the Zelda characters?

It seems really stupid to me to go out and make a movie based on something like Zelda when you don't have all the legal stuff done beforehand.

Here's my theory on it:
Just like some other derivitive works from Nintendo, they know about it, and they will not take legal action, as it will likely help sales of their games. I cite Zelda Classic for example. For those who don't know about that program, it's a remake of the original Legend of Zelda with a quest editor for PC. And as being from that community, most of us know that Nintendo knows about ZC. It's been going strong for around 10 years if I can remember right...
I could also go into about the whole doujin indstury in Japan, but to keep it short, derivitve works are not illegal there as it is in the United States. Why do you think there's all that hentai of well known series? ;)

I can't be bothered to type an essay about it, but much of the information presented in the previous post is blatantly wrong. Take it with a grain of salt and do a little research if you want to know about how copyright law and litigation for infringement work.

I've looked at the site for maybe five seconds and could tell this thing is going to suck. The only reason I don't think Nintendo's going to care much is because I think this at best going to warrant "We've wasted five years or so making this pile of garbage, download it and give us thanks but whatever you do don't say it sucks or we'll ban you from our forums!"

If it actually happened to be good, Nintendo would care because they'd want to get money out of something that is using characters/themes/ideas that they all created and have copyrights for. If it sucks, which it will, I'm pretty sure nothing is really going to happen because nobody would want to release it and I doubt these people have enough money to actually make a movie release big enough to get Nintendo to care.

As silly as the trailer looks, I'd like to point out that the Legend of Zelda, first and foremost, is a game and not a narrative. As great as the story is, the design makes it so that it's meant to be played. Take the dungeons, for instance! I doubt anyone could possibly make the trek through each of them good for a movie. A lone protagonist looking for keys doesn't make for passive forms of entertainment.

J. Peterman

That's why they have the hero break out into a rap solo during his battle with the bad guy.

EDIT: I groaned @ Lux Aeterna. Come on, people, there are other dramatic tunes you can use.

I love indie films, but if you were to make a Zelda movie, it would have to be a high budget Hollywood blockbuster. I know I'll be lampooned for saying that, but just look at Ocarina of Time! Zora's Temple anyone? Jabu Jabu? The battle with Ganandorf? For me, it's all or nothing. And if you aren't going to go all out, maybe you shouldn't do it at all. I commend them for trying to transfer your ideas to film of course, but by the looks of it, it just won't work out properly...

I haven't checked out that video yet, but here is a Legend of Zelda fanmade movie that I think is awesome. It's called Lol: Legend of Link.
The beginning of the movie is pretty much setting up enemies and having action scenes and whatnot, but the rest of the movie is actually really funny and clever. Everyone here should definitely check it out

ya if hollywood wouldn't shit all over it like they have with every other video game. not to say that this trailer isn't shit. and this film is not looking promising at all. i laughed when i saw link, the effects, and Lux Aeterna. and i doubt they have the rights to use any of the Zelda tunes. what would be a Zelda movie without at least one Koji Kondo tune? enough of that. i'll now hold my tongue. best of luck to them.

First I was going to say: Awesome!
Now I'm sobbing inside for the tragedy.

I think somebody could make a great Zelda movie, and this one may not be as bad as the trailer shows (one can wish), but it goes beyond B-Movie acting into just plain bad. This is just based on what I've seen, there have been good movies that have had bad previews, so if I watch it, I will post my actual reaction.

I still think Zelda could have a bad ass movie, though.
