Hi fellows!

I'm currently working on a COMPLETE Score for the amazing adventure "The Dig" by Lucas Arts (for everyone who has never played it: get your hands on it!!!).
My goal is to achieve a soundtrack that plays all the musical pieces and cutscenes in the right order. Well, I've just noticed, that this is more difficult than I expected.
Note: The 2 CD PC soundtrack from Mix'n'Mojo is NOT complete!
Ok, first of all, we need to extract and convert the music from the "DIGMUSIC.BUN": use "Game Extractor" from Watto Studios for the extraction. I can't remember where to find the tool to convert the .IMU files to .WAV, but a thorough Google search should link to some really old site with a tool I think... =)
Now, we rename the files. Don't ask me how long it took to find out these names... To rename the files, use the following list with the intended file names. It also contains a pre-tagging and is loosely sorted. A * shows that I don't know yet where the track is played.

Some notes:
- The Tracks from "The Nexus" are played when standing in front of each door that leads to the specified area.
- I first thought that the Tram (~~~) Tracks play in the tram platforms but when I played the game I recognized that the music, that plays there seems to be not included in the above list: The tracks that are played here are looped and have a length of about 30-40 seconds. (I currently try to record them out of the game)
- All video sequences are stored in the \VIDEO\ folder. There is a Smush Player, that comes with the ScummVM source code. I have asked a pal if he can compile it for me. Currently I record the videos directly out of the game. For this I have to turn down music and speech to 0, because sometimes the music overlaps with the video sound!
- when you download the PC soundtrack from Mix'n'Mojo, you'll realize that for example the track "The Descent" plays in the Asteroid chapter, which apparently is NOT right. I don't know where other pieces play; still have to figure that out.

Here's a list of the videos I have recorded so far. I noted the file names I suspect to belong to the recorded sequences. The videos are already sorted.

1. Intro (5:14) - SQ1.SAN
2. The Asteroid: Attila's Plastic Surgery (1:36) - SQ2.SAN
3. The Asteroid: Into the Tunnel (0:35) - ASTTUN.SAN
4. Interlude: Travelling to Cocytus (1:09) - SQ3.SAN
5. The Nexus: Tram to the Museum Spire (0:24) - TRAM1.SAN
6. The Nexus: Resurrecting Brinks (0:14) - SQ4.SAN
7. Museum Spire: Display (0:29) - ???.SAN
8. Museum Spire: Tram To The Nexus (0:18) - RTRAM1.SAN

I actually made a personal soundtrack once but as the movies where missing I try now to really complete it and sort the tracks anew.
Ok, who wants to help me from here? ;)

Regards, Timo

do you know there is already a so-called "complete score"? take a look at

Hi!
Yes, I know that. But when you play the game, you'll notice that even this score isn't complete! For example, the videos are completely missing!
There are also some ambient tracks, that aren't imcluded in the downloadable version.
Ok, so no-one likes to help me, which I can understand quite well. Nevertheless, when I find the time to record some of the music, I'll complete the soundtrack and upload it upon request. =)

Hi!

That's really cool! =) Thanks a lot in advance - this soundtrack really is something special! =)
I will upload the game image tomorrow or at the weekend.
Do you have an audio editing software?

Hm, also a nice idea. I wonder if he really manages to do this...
So, OrangeC, if you read this, maybe you can post here. ;)

Well I know this post is really old but I can't find a way to send you "Alpha23" a directly message. I would be really intrested to make a "The Dig" Soundtrack of the pure music files. A few days ago I found the a package of the pure music-files like the ones in your list on the top, but there were encoded with lame to mp3-files. Well I mixed them up to longer tracks but I would like to start again with the pure IMU-Format and convert these in FLAC or WAV and edit them. Had you found a way how to do it Alpha23?

wow! just realized there's a thread about the Dig!

anyway, from what i gather, this means that the official soundtrack itself isn't the complete version?
You even noted that the mixnmojo version was also not completed.

And it's been about a decade since the last time played the game or listening the soundtrack.

Yeah Bobbin, Timo hasn't been on this for awhile. I was asking him about last year maybe and he said he would put it off until the future. Hopefully he wants to come back to it some day, but right now this is a dead thread

but right now this is a dead thread

I didn't think so. ; )

Well after many complications Iam done with this project. I had used every possible music-file and video sequence of the game to make this soundtrack possible. If everything works, it will be not much longer and the complete Ingame verson of the "The Dig" Soundtrack will be free to download. If somebody want to prelisten I had upload the whole soundtrack on my new "Youtube-Channel" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GANzKyQRjlQ). =)

I'm sorry that I didn't look up for so long. ^_^ Well a few months ago I sent the files to the owner of the "The Dig Museum" but there were some issues with the mixing on maybe three tracks. Some of them got only one speakchannel. So at least I have to send the whole soundtrack again but I want to wait for my faster internet connection for the upload. ;)

I'll second that. Been a year or two since I've checked in on this thread... and am still interested in the project. Whats the status?

I also wouldn't mind having the ambient/atmosphere tracks... always had a soft spot for good soundscape pieces.

Another bump for the entire Dig Score project. I'd love to have it, wav if possible, including all the otherworldly ambiance/atmosphere tracks (always had a soft spot for soundscapes from different enviroments)
