I just got me an XBOX 360. Never even owned an XBOX. Got rid of the PS2. Guess it was time for a change. Thing is, I dont know much about XBOX. So I was wondering if I could get some suggestions for some good Xbox or Xbox 360 games?

Thanks :)

Xbox 360 games to get, in order of awesomeness:

Mass Effect (comes out in a couple of weeks, but will be good. I guarantee it)
BioShock
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Dead Rising
Halo 3

Xbox games that are a must-play:

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Jade Empire
Star Wars KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords

i have to second bioshock and oblivion, though. haven't really played dead rising.

Oh, definately - The Orange Box deserves to be on that list. I forgot about it because i've got it on the PC, not on my 360.

The whole point of Xbox 360 is to play great classic multiplayer games on live arcade over the internet. TMNT, Street Fighter 2, etc. Even I have considered getting one for this purpose, and I hate Xbox. A lot.

Gears of War is the best game I have played on the 360 to date. Dead Rising is also a lot of fun. Both should be good cheap starting points.

Mass Effect looks sweet can't wait for that one myself!

Wattson is that the Square space RPG thingy? It looked awesome is it worth getting?

No, Eternal Sonata is a JRPG inspired by the works of Chopin and is more traditional fantasy based. I can't think of a space-themed Square game off the top of my head.

EDIT: Wait, you mean Star Ocean 4. No, this is not that.

I've never played the game but from what I read it's definitely not an RPG.

Only buy games "YOU KNOW" will not come out for PC, because PC blows out XBOX almost 100% of the time, unless it's a fighting or racing game.

depends on how much you want to spend on your pc.

Especially considering that the Xbox 360 retails for around AU$400 now, while a decent gaming computer will put you back AU$2000.

And at least you know that when you put the disc in it's guaranteed to work, unlike some recent releases (hello PC BioShock).

Yeah that's a bit true, but to be honest not really min requirements aren't so high nowadays. 512-1024MBof RAM and a 128-256MB graphic card are less than a new Xbox360.

That's only if you uber-fy your PC... which almost all pc owners think about doing, til' they see those hefty costs. And nVidia is the main reason for that.

The point is, you have to 'uber-fly' your PC to get the same performance as the game on the PS3/Xbox 360. Sure, minimum specs may be cheaper, but you're not going to get the same graphical level, and you're definitely not going to get a guaranteed frame rate.

EDIT: Ash, I don't know what the hell you're going on about, but Commander Keen and Wolf 3D were two of my favourite PC games back on my old 286 :D

Well... that is true, you win. But I still think it's worth it, one Uber computer can play about 1.5 decades of games. I mean with the Xbox360 you'll end up having to buy a new system in about 7 years.

KREAYSHAWN

to stay current with pc gaming you will have to spend a lot more than the price of a new system in the intervening years.

An uber computer that will last you 15 years will cost more than twice as much as a 360, so if you have to buy 2 Consoles to match that lifespan you'll still be ahead with the 360 (assuming that no console ever breaches the ~$600 pricepoint ever again).

Back on topic..

I'd recommend the following...

Lost Planet
Saints Row
Ninety Nine Nights
Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End
Warrior's Orochi
Call of Duty 4

And when they're released... (It sucks being in Australia... we have to wait ages for games...)

Ace Combat 6
Bionic Comando
