On October 23rd, the Usa is going to finally see the release of Front Mission 1. It's going to be on the DS, with some updates on the Japanese PS 1 and Snes releases.

Front Mission is a Square Enix series of tactical rpg's involving huge customizable warfare robot wanzers and it takes place in the future. The style of the game battle is similar to Final Fantasy Tactics. In Usa we've only got FM 3 and FM 4. The series has five main games, plus 6 spinoffs, including Front Mission Online. The series is led by Toshiro Tsuchida, who is currently working on Final Fantasy XIII as battle director. Front Mission 1 came out in Japan for Snes in 1995.

I've beaten Front Mission and Front Mission: Gun Hazard so far. They were extremely high quality. I'd like to beat more of these games, I may eventually get this DS release of this game. Who is buying this game? :)

No, they really don't.

If it's a game that's never been outside Japan, I'm all for remakes, especially if they're great games. I should think Front Mission qualifies.

Good thing that Front Mission gets on DS not PSP, I think it'll sell better there. Although it's fine for me to have Square Enix release some PSP rpg's

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
Final Fantasy I
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

FM 3 and FM 4 came out in Usa. I'm hoping that SE continues to release FM games in Usa. I hope they bring out FM: Gun Hazard and FM: Alternative, and FM 2, I'm waiting for announcements.

What other FM games have you beaten? I've only beaten FM and FM: Gun Hazard. I haven't tried FM 4. Check the ratings for it on metacritic.com/games and gamerankings.com if you want. The DS version of FM 1 came out in Usa already!! Buy it!!! :)

FM4 was overrated but still amazing...but fm5: scars of war was a work of art. It was gutwrenchingly emotional. I spent a 6 week course in japanese just to be able to play and finish that game.

Front mission online is also quite noteworthy.

Square Enix released Front Mission 5(PS 2) and Front Mission Online(PS 2, PC) in 2005, in Japan only. Since then they released Front Mission 2089 and Front Mission 2089-II for cellphones in Japan. They released Front Mission for DS in Usa last October. They are currently working on a Nintendo DS port of FM 2089, not sure if it will be out in USA though.

The leader of the Front Mission series, Toshiro Tsuchida, who produced Front Mission Online, is currently working as the battle director of Final Fantasy XIII and the producer of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My life as a king. The director of Front Mission Online, Kenichiro Yuji, is currently directing FF CC: My life as a king.

So after the releases of Front Mission 5 and Front Mission Online the series is slowing down a bit, but only temporarily. People split up to work on FM 2089, FM 2089-II, FF XIII, and FF CC: My life as a king.

The leader of Front Mission is working on Final Fantasy XIII?! This is great! :)!!!
