It was bad enough with Obsidian, now EA!!! I was under the impression that with all of the success they got with the original KOTOR and Jade Empire that they were a thriving company. I wonder if EA will try its hand at F--ing up another KOTOR game or if they're going to leave it for the professionals at Obisidian to do it :mad:

They are a thriving company - thanks to the 300 million put into them by Elevation Partners, their holding company, they were the biggest independent games studio in the world. The problem is, Elevation Partners buys companies, makes them more profitable and sells them - like BioWare, which they sold to EA for 900 million.
Oh well. As long as EA doesn't interfere, it shouldn't be too bad, but there goes my dreams of working at Pandemic Australia one day - there is no way in hell i'd work for EA after the stories i've heard about their working conditions.

Still, John Ricetello is the new head of EA, and he's been pretty hands-off when it comes to major IPs - like Crysis. He was also on the board of Elevation Partners, who brought together BioWare and Pandemic in the first place.

I admit I'm not a fan of EA, and this fills me with dread tbh. I mean, I love the KOTOR games, but if EA releases KOTORIII, as much as I'm dying to play it, to find out how the story ends, I have this gut feeling that it'll be stuffed up :(

I haven't really boughten a game by EA in a while, so I guess I don't really see how it can be that bad of a thing to me.
I am failing to see how this affects me.
So I will pretend I never saw this.
Okay..so they bought them. All EA needs to do is supply funds to the studio and gtfo. If that is done then not much will change. Hopefully they won't mess this up.

IMO, EA isn't too bad. Just that they screw up every once in a while (i.e. Sim City DS. This sorry excuse for a Sim City title is actually Sim City 2000 with a couple of minigames pretending to be Sim City 3000. Sim City 4 and SC4 Rush Hour was good imo, but the game is so buggy that it randomly crashes on my desktop. And they did not release any other patches beyond the only Rush Hour patch released. I'm now eagerly waiting for SC: Societies and Spore. the latter sounds promising, hope EA doesn't screw up over that one.
As for KOTOR, I'm not too fond of Star Wars, let alone a game with an acronym that spells out the Malay word for "dirty". So I don't really see how this would affect me.

Talking about sad days for gaming: The new Sim City, due for release next month, Isn't produced by Maxim. They even took out a lot of infrastructure building and stuff :(

That's not good. One of the fun things about SC is the infrastructure building. I certainly hope they don't screw Spore up any further, since last I heard they're eliminated a phase or two off the game, which means shorter gameplay. Also, Wikipedia said that EA has pretty much dissolved Maxis as of 2004, so I can pretty much see why it's not even made by Maxis - Maxis simply just doesn't exist anymore.
