I personally think that FFXI will be mad cool. If there was not the monthly price issue, i would be getting it without hesitation.

It may have flaws, but every game does. I agree that we should not judge it until it is played, but from what I have heard it looks to be shaping into an interesting and hopefully fun game. My one word of advice to all anti FFXI people- Deal with your problems and wait to judge!

I may be judging, but at least its optimistic. Please don't point out my flaw in logic by condenming judgement and yet judging.

i have never played an online game before,so I will get it and either like it or hate it. I can't really judge it yet. But I have to admit, I felt the same way as you when I first heard it was online, but the more I hear about it, the more it feels like waiting for X to come out all over again:D

again its only 10$ a month to play. what u mean that it's bad cause it's online only? if anythin this could save the FF series and give it a head start on allt he other console rpg's. get used to online rpg's cause most of the good new one's are mmorpg's and they don't seem to be dying down. each one offers something new and as it seems FFXI seems to have gotten the best of all that have been released thus far and compiled it into one great mmorpg. if u can't pay 10$ a month i wonder how u get online.

Well, based on screen shots, and info, I can say, yes, FFXI is gonna suck. Badly. It's gonna be another Phantasy Star Online, which sucked bad enough. Thank you, for now I've met someone who shares the same thing as me. :)

I guess you guys are right but I the game has nothing to do with final fantasy seiries its nothing but an online internet rpg game :)

Every single FF is made to be completely different than all the others. So really it is following suit with all the other FFs to this point.

Anyway, I have a feeling FFXI is going to be one of the greatest online RPG's to date. Why? Because EVERY time Square has jumped to a new system they have surpassed all the games proceeding it and set the standard for all future games.

The very first FF was revolutionary because it changed the way RPG's were thought of with the multi-character party that you could see in battle, the new magic system, and a very well developed story. Then there was FF4. The first FF for the SNES that AGAIN set the standard for all RPG's on the system as well. FF7 and 10 almost don't even need to be mentioned because of how spectacular they were compared to every other RPG that was out at the time. This goes without mentioning FF3, which was made for the NES but to the quality of a game for the SNES, FF6 with its remarkable story, and FF 8 and 9 that brought PSX games to the nest level, and all the highest of quality games.

To put it another way, the guys at Square don't fuck around...they get the job done and they get it done well.

thank u gumby. yo for real square knows what its doing. whoever posted that its gonna be another PSO should read up on FFxi before u compare it to another game ok. first of all there are 3 kinds of online rpgs. one is the mmorpg's which is gonna be FFxi, or star wars galaxies, DAoC, everquest. then there is diablo style which would be where PSO falls under. and then u got games like baldur's gate (pc version) which are a whole mess in themselves. so get your facts straight.

I, for one, think FF11 is going to look goregeous. Whether or not I'll play it is another question, simply because I'm not a fan of online gaming at all, and I don't even think the fact that it's Final Fantasy will really change that.

What I'm hoping is that you'll be able to hook up two PS2's (within the same house, or whatever) together and play it 'online' that way. Who knows, I'll give it a whirl. It might really open my eyes to online gaming.

I'm not going to pass judgement on whether or not it's a good game. Frankly, I don't know. I was only disappointed in FF8 (sorry FF8 fans, I just didn't enjoy it as much as the others...) but, as Vir said, Square's artists blow almost everyone out of the water. I have yet to see anyone look better than they do. Movies, games, their visuals are among the best.

Hell how do you know what its gonna be like. You might like it if you play it.(I know I will like it when I play it =/)

I foresee this same person coming back after playing FF11 and commenting on how the not yet released FF12 sucks because its not online.

I can't wait for this game to come out... I just got a magazine with a crapload of info...like on the classes, and their is gonna be limit break things called Tactic Attacks! I think this might be the best FF game when it comes out.

I personally have never played FF series at all. I used to play Zelda, but after kidish screens of crappycube I forgot it. I was browsing Playonline yesterday and found myself deep into FFX while not even playing it. Since its gonna go multi platform I'm freakin excited!

I have read on numerous sites that too increase the # of online players 56k dial ups will be allowed. :)

for those witha broadband connection, the ps2 modem has an ethernet slot as well as a p6k port so if u have a broad band connection u just plug it to the modem and play so ur in luck. also it doesn't matter what isp u use cause sony said all of them will work to go online unlike the ps2

I don't think that FF XI should be part of the main series if it's only online. They should just title it Final Fantasy Online.

I think it'll be a bit slow w/56K but only to you. I'm upgrading to Cable before fall. I read that they are working very hard to make the story as loveable as possible. Make friends, enemies, join groups of 6 ppl or join 18 man alliances to face bosses. Many character classes plus 5 more as the game progresses. I havnt played any other FF's but it sounds good to me and im hoping for the best.

What are you supposed to do in FF11 anyways. theres gonna be no story unless its like diablo and you beat the game except with other characters. but are you going to spend that much time on the internet? i wouldnt. i think square should make games with defferent objectives. Like killing a second sephiroth or kefka. or maybe finding each other and dueling. :rolleyes: either that or you just stand around trying to get items but having no real use for them.

all this dissing is ticken me off. Give it a chance for god sakes. Most people already know that square makes damn good games. I HIGHLY doubt they are stupid enough to make ANY game, internet or not, without any story or little story. This game is highly anticipated my many FF veterans and newcomers.

look this is the final fantasy game for every final fantasy fan. the story in this game is never ending. not only can u do quests to receive certain items and such you have faction missions. these missions are constantly changing and are involved with the game's immediate story. take for example maybe the story for this month would be some npc is raising a huge army. you would complete missions involving the plot around the npc and the army while battling them. then they would flow the story on to something else when this story is done. like we would learn after we killed the npc and his army that there was someone behind him and the npc was working for someone else. then starts another story. so as you can see the game would never get old.

also do not forget the guild system that will be in the game. besides the 6 people party and the 18 person alliances there can be guilds.
also 56k or cable doesn't matter cause it will all run at the same speed to make everythin nice and smooth. if you played PSO you would know what i mean. only reason there is gonna be a broadband port and a 56k slot is because not everyone has broadband or dial-up

Well, uhh I found out that the characters are gonna be totally customizable, and I think that is so cool, before that I thought the game was going to be stupid, but no ohhh boy is it gonna rock, plus I wanna make a chocobo riding clan (kinda like a biker gang :-) ) so chocobo clans can duke it out in the middle of a feild, I think that would be cool..

I think FFXI is going to be awesome now Im probably going to repeat alot of things said before cuz I didnt feel like reading the other posts so here goes.

+ #1.Online Only-May cost 10 dollars but it will be harder to beat a human player then an AI computer.

- #1.Being that it is online "trainers" will definately come into play

+ #2.Square has promised a great new game, Square has promised great new games with all the other FF's also, I think we can trust um.

- #2.There will more then likely be a huge amount of pricks online equaling in less amount of fun for the people acctually wishing to play.

+ #3.So far in every FF game I have seen beyond 1-3 the graphics have gotten excedinly greater. I think we can look forward to another great lookin FF title.

- #3.Online play will equal in huge amounts of lag as more and more people start accessing onto it.

+ #4.Clans, this could equal in a great amount of gameplay and fun.

- #4. Clans, this could equal up to a great amount of people using "trainers" to gang up on lil people who are tryin to kick the games ass

+ #5. The chocobo clan that some one is talking about........I WANT IN!

Well from the footage from my preview disk, it looks like an OK game, also it will have 10 job classes, and you will be able to create clans, preety kewl all round. Plus it does have something that resembles a story line.
The chocobo's look like the grand bird that they are.

I think ff11 is gonna be awesome! It won't get old as fast as the others cause it is going to be on the internet and you can form parties with other people and can make alliances with other parties! I can't wait for it to come out!

I think the only thing I'm not looking forward to about it is having to deal with the internet screwing up all the time. But other than that, it will probably be ok.

Ya lets just hope Sqaure buys a good server to its not super laggy. Lag = suX

roric all u have to do is connect the dsl cable to the ps2 modem. no extra fees. well except for paying to play ffXI. same thing with dial up. plus it won't be as laggy if u dial up as u think. sure maybe an hour a day u'll hit a lag spike when everyone tries to go on, but the lag will settle soon enough

Dont get me wrong, Squaresoft is the shit, even better than blizzard(because they're japanese and right there in the industry, but also because of they're previous 10 awsome ff titles, + devil may cry) but even all the limit breaks, summons, spells, and ultima weapons in the multiverse may not be able to overcome the most deadly, horrific and ruthless of all game enemies, LAG! I have confidence that the game will be very good, but if LAG is a factor then I will be forced to revert to cable modem(too much for $5.40 and hour at Papa John's pizza damn my unskilled labour job). I will be less happy if i have to give 50% of my paycheck to play, but Ill probably do it anyway...

Id have to get a router and stuff, for DSL to make FFXI be cool. If I do 56K its will suck, I cant stand lag and disconnects. O well I have high hopes for this game.

its sad but true, as long as there will be online rpgs, there will be lag. since not everyone in the country will be playing in the same time zone, no matter what connection u get there will be lag. BUT not constant lag. some online games out there like diablo 2 or ultima online experience constant lag. by this i mean u start playing it online and the lag doesn't stop until u shut off the comp. console games are much more easier on lag because each console is built on the same basis so there is much difference. connections will make a difference, but not much. another plus side of an mmorpg, each server is a whole world, and each world is the same size. if u experience lag in one area, that means there are too many people there or too many people there with crappy connections or too mony people in a lag spike. all u have to do is walk away. that should clear up the lag a bit.

Like I said earlier, lag is the true final boss of all games, if you can beat it(or your one of those spoiled kids with a cable modem(i have no problem with it if you work your ass off for it like im trying to do as long as you're not an asshole))then you're trully the master of that game. Anyway, I dont know a whole lot about computer hardware(programming is my game) I think it would be simple enought to get a wicked fast server(I said simple not cheap) and slow the game code down to slightly less than optimum 56k connection then it would not matter what connection you have, and buying a faster connection( :mad: ) would not be neccesary. That in itself would make the gaming population VERY happy. It wouldn't make the game suck either considering ff fans are used to timedturn based gameplay( or laggy shit play on a non-square online game). At any rate I'd rather have everyone move just a bit slower than to have gobs of poor people like myself victimised by lag!
THAT IS PROBABLY THE MOST AGGRAVATING THING EVER, WHEN YOU CANT AFFORD A FASTER CONNECT, AND PEOPLE WHO CAN SAY THAT YOU SUCK, WHEN ITS THE LAG, NOT THE GAME PLAY(good example: EVERY FREAKING ONLINE 1ST PERSON SHOOTER EVER)

look there is NO, and i cannot stress this enough, NO difference between the ps2 version and the pc version. NO DIFFERENCE. and there is a reason why. if you are playing on the ps2 you can play with people on the pc.
