So it starts with Earth in tatters, the flood are on their way. The covenant fire the device on Earth, which in fact is a portal to the real ark jut outside of the milky way. The elites glass most of new mombassa as the flood are there. Then the elite fleet with an earth frigate goes through the portal and attacks the brutes.

The ark remakes the original Halo, which is half done. Commander miranda keyes dies saving Johnson from activating the ark. Master chief, arbiter and johnson decide to fire the ring, knowing that in it's half done state, it will be destroyed, along with the ark and all the flood, who have arrived on high charity. Guilty spark kills Johnson later, upon realising the new halo is his charge as they go to fire it. Guilty spark is destroyed, the ring is activated via the orginal index, kept by the newly recovered Cortana, and johnsons final words are "Give me a big send off".

The ring begins to explode. Arbiter and Chief make it to the earth frigate "The Dawn" just as the ring goes up.

As they head for the portal back to earth, The dawn is severed in half, as the portal looses power upon the Arks destruction. The Arbiter makes it through, and attends a memorial to all the fallen heroes, which includes Master chief.

But, back on the left behind half of the ship, Cortana drops a becon to let earth know where they are, but it will be years before they are found. Chief gets in a stasis pod, ending the series where it began.

Best line? When Cortana believes they are going to die when the ark explodes and goes "It's been an honour to serve, John."

Discuss your thoughts on this ending in this thread.

Personally, i loved every bit of it.

So he ends up at the start of the first game?

Not time wise.

He's unfrozen at the start of the first game. He gets re-frozen at the end of the last game.

Full circle and all.

As I've said before:

I should make an Xbox FPS:
-No real creativity needed
-Chessy storylines
-massive marketing campaigns

An instant Xbox fanboy classic!!!

Are you one of these people who dislike the Halo series and spend your time saying you could make it yourself because you believe that because you don't like the game, no one else should, despite the fact you haven't earned the millions from making such a game, and they have?

You own a PS3 don't you?

No I don't, I haven't gotten on the Next Gen system bandwagon.
I'm neutral in the PS3/Xbox/Wii war.
So far, all 3 have games I want to play.

I am a Halo Hater. I never saw what all the hype was about in the game.
I played it several times, and I saw nothing spectacular about it.

All I see is an overrated FPS.
It's pretty much Starcraft.
Freakin Counterstrike is a way better multiplayer than that.

as I said before:
If that's all it takes to get Xbox fanboys wet, I should make an Xbox game.

LOL, that is a lot like what I think about Halo. Microsoft told the gaming community that Halo was the next big thing, and the sheeps among them believed it. Now you can't find any "praising" reviews out there that offer any non-biased explanations as to why Halo 3 is such a big deal.

I don't much understand it either. I mean I'll admit that Halo is an alright series and all but I wouldn't call it like the best FPS shooter out there. My brother got the legendary thing and I didn't get why he paid so much for the dang game.

I can't see what the commotion is all about, Halo may be slightly overated, but it's a great game none the less, the major flaw is that it's way too short.

I also thought this was a thread for discussing the ending of the game, not to moan about a game you're being forced to play by microsoft controlled governments.

I don't think we ever said we HATED the game. We're just questioning what is the big deal about it, and nobody can tell.

Indeed, though I have not that many queries on the end of the game, just wanted to ask whether Master Cheif actually ends up at the start of the first game, which you answered, so thanks.

It is not some big secret, you know what the "big deal" is? It's fun, that's it, what else should you look for in a video "game".

No no no, that's not what it is. If it was just that it's fun, than most games should get a score as high as Halo.

The game doen't get high reviews just because it's fun, and believing otherwise is only fooling yourself.

You are telling me I am wrong? How could I be wrong, if a game sucks it won't do well, if it is not fun it won't do well, if a game is fun to play it will. Isn't that the only point of a game, to be fun. Why do you think everyone is buying the Halo games?

Don't argue with a fool because they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience. I am done.

LMAO!!!

I don't contest that the game is fun. I contest the fact that it's labeled the best game ever since Super Mario Bros.

I was disappointed with Halo 3, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the game. The campaign is way too short and I wanted to see more focus on the Arbiter. Instead he just followed Master Chief around here and there and was a total liability.

The multiplayer is all Halo is about, plain and simple. I think the maps are adequate at best, and until I spend some good time with the Forge I can't comment on it. I can see how people would spend hours in the Theater, looking at awesome kills or great moments from each possible angle, so I like it. Other than that, it just feels like the same overhyped, and overrated stuff.

EDIT: Also forgot to add that I wasn't too fond of the ending. I wanted Master Chief to die somehow, because it felt like the only justification to end the trilogy. The fact that he is still out there suggests that more Halo games are not just a possibility, but more of a probibility.

Yeah, more concentration on the Arbiter and the Elites would have been nice. And i think everyone agrees that the campaign as WAAAAAYYY too short. And the ending was left me wanting something more conclusive. Apparently, the legendary ending is supposed to imply the start of the marathon series. But i dunno. Master Chief dying is something we deserved really. Or something with a little more conclusion.

I don't remember anything past the memorial. Did you beat it on Legendary? Or is it at the end of the credits?

After the memorial there's the credits, then the bit where Chief gets in the stasis pod. If you then beat it on legendary, there's a small slip of the bit of the ship he is in heading towards a planet.

My friend told me that apparently it is Master Chief's pod floating toward a planet. What actually interested me was he said the Flood music is playing during this 'bonus' scene.

Mike_w

It does play the flood music, but i would think it was used as a shock value bit rather than to symbolise the flood. I personally think it's just a random planet, as Bungie have said it's nothing to do with marathon.

Which is good because i think that would cheapen it.

The ending sounds good a tear jerker if I cared for the series, thing is Microsoft studios always make short games from what I see, I've played a lot of MS Game studio, and i it's not a simulation game it's probably not worth the money. They do have very engrossing online capabilities though.

Marth of Altea
10-04-2007, 12:42 AM
Isn't that really the only purpose for Halo in the first place?
I mean without online capabilities what would be the point of playing it at all?
The story is short lived and the multiplayer gets very dull after someone out of the group gets too good and they just keep on winning over and over again.
Or maybe its just me.......

That's where Xbox Live comes in. The better you get, the better players you'll start facing. And the conversations on there are hilarious :D. Ah, such fond memories of Halo 2 online...

You do have the option to mute you know. For me, when I want to get better, I need to play actual people. You can only go so far when facing AI. I don't like that you have to pay to get Xbox Live (and with some games, the montly charge).

The only difference is that they take more damage and do more damage. Otherwise, its practically the same. If you notice, most of them don't run and shoot at the same time. And for me, you never know what's going to happen when your playing against another player.
