I have to post this, I just looked on metacritic.com/games for the averages of critical reviews and user votes for Ogre Battle 64. It has the highest user rating I've EVER seen for a game!
Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Calibur (n64: 2000): Reviews (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/n64/ogrebattle64?q=ogre%20battle%2064)
82% from 10 critical reviews but it has 98% from 45 user votes!

On the bottom of the page, click on "Read more user comments...". Every person but one on that list gave it a 10 out of 10!!! I've never seen a game this highly rated!! I have to get this game! :) I'm going to post a thread on this game now!

Hehe, this is the thread, I copied and pasted that from my tactical rpg thread here. Anyways, I've beaten Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre, but I haven't beaten the other three games in the Ogre series: Ogre Battle 64, Ogre Battle Gaiden, and Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis.

I want to beat this game! Who here has beaten it and what do you think of it? :)

It's one of my favorite games of all time, although I wouldn't call it an RPG by any stretch.

Honestly, if you like tactics games, you really shouldn't miss it.

It's a really really great game. The ending is awesome. It's not like Tactics Ogre, its like the old original Ogre Battle for SNES. It's not really a RPG, just a strategy game. Really good though, Good story, and lots of things to learn.
Tactics Ogre, the Knighs of Lodis is worth finishing too.

I've been wanting to play this game for a while now, too bad I'm busy with other rpg's. How does it compare/contrast to Ogre Battle for Snes? What other rpg's are similar to this game?

Besides Graphics, The story is better, and controls and gameplay. It's almost like an advanced version of the SNES.

I've always wanted to play this game but never did. I remember I even thought about buying a Nintendo 64 for this, but that never happened.

Emulating games on your computer is illegal.

How's the music and characters?

The music is excellent. If you're really concerned about characters in a tactics game, your priorities are screwed up, but they're competently written enough to satisfy just about anyone.

Prak, I do not believe my priorities are "screwed up" on this matter. Even though it's a tactics game, I believe that the characters are still important for people to like the game. The battle system is different but the characters are still interacting with each other in the story and they should be good.

Have you played Ogre Battle Gaiden or Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis? I'm interested in this. Here's some info...

Yasumi Matsuno games(main):
Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII

Extra Ogre games(without YM and his team mostly):
Ogre Battle 64, Ogre Battle Gaiden, Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis

Extra Ivalice games(without YM and his team mostly):
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Final Fantasy XII: Zodiac Job System
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
Final Fantasy Tactics A2

I wonder what Yasumi Matsuno is doing now? I read that he's working with Nintendo for a new original Wii rpg and he took some of the team from Monolith Soft with him! :D

Dragonsoul, I really don't think that story should matter to you by any stretch when you listed Dirge of Cerberus as a game with superior quality to Knights of the Old Republic in another thread, before quickly changing it once you realized that the general consensus is that Dirge or Cerberus is a horrible game.

And just so you know, while I really don't care about the story too much when playing games. I'm much more concerned with gameplay. I enjoy a good story, but the game executes that poorly and does everything else so well, I probably wouldn't care. And I probably could stand a great story if everything else was executed extremely poorly. That's just my opinion, though. So whatever.

I'm also a bit sick right now.

Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus has a fair amount of flaws but I still like the game a lot. Don't worry about me liking the game more than the Knights game. I didn't change my opinion I just removed the game list on that thread.

Yea, controls/battle system(this is what you mean by gameplay correct?) are very important also. I am not sure yet how I'd rank all the aspects of a game yet. What do you think of the Final Fantasy Tactics gameplay? That game was great!

I want to play the new version of it. I think I have to finish some more games first. :D
