Hello folks, I have nowhere to turn with this problem, but I know there's some pretty skilled people around here so I'll give it a try.

I own the album Variations part I & II by Maksim Mrvica, and I've been trying to rip it for ages, but nothing works. It has some kind of copy protection. When I insert the cd into my cd rom drive it wants to install a special program to play the cd, you can't play it in winamp or windows media player. Please help me! I'm so sick of having to listen to my old pirate mp3s instead of a lossless rip of the damn cd (I never listen to cd:s, I listen though my mp3/flac player)! :notgood:

And I promise, just because I'm so sick of how that artist has destroyed his wonderful works with copy protection, I'll put it here for you once I manage to rip it. ;)

daemon tools beats a lot of copy protection. try ripping to an iso (uif or something, probably), mounting it then going from there

I'm going to go ahead and suggest this. Even this is more for last resort measures, there's always outside recording. This means using a program such as Audacity to record each song individually.

I of course would recomend Sarah's solution over mine if it can be helped.

I couldn't figure out how to make an image file with daemon tools, so I used Alcohol120, and then MediaMonkey for ripping to flac. It sounds better than my previous tries, but the sound still have distortion. Problem not solved... :(

I'd like to make a mathematically correct copy of the music, so Audacity isn't an option, at least not yet :(
