In a little chat with Sir MossY, I came to the realisation that I hardly listen to any music outside of that from the US, Canada or Australia. And few, if any of my most liked bands are from outside those areas.

SO WITH YOUR HELP I AM BROADENING MY HORIZONS.

I'm thinking first gimme some UK and European music that you consider to be most excellent. New or old. Also feel free to shoot me some from Africa or the Middle East or South America or Tibet or Antarctica or WHEREVER ELSE.

(Actually I guess I will also allow some Japanese bands but go easy ok)

and yes I know this is kinda broad. but DO IT.

British Sea Power are excellent, sort of indie-pop-rock but excellent stuff. Also check out Brakes (or BrakesBrakesBrakes in the US) as they are intense. Belle & Sebastian also? Oh and John Cale. JOHN CALE!!

Will give British Seapower, John Cale and STONEGARD a listen.

Brakes MossY recommended to me last night and they win the first prize thus far. PORCUPINE OR PINEAPPLE.

Also, Belle and Sebastian are a band that I will soon try again to get into because I feel like I should like them, but I just feel meh about them. =\

Here's some Psychobilly bands that are pretty cool. If you haven't heard of this genre, you'll pretty much like it or hate it. Also, there's a huge difference between US-Psychobilly and Euro-Psychobilly, so I would listen to both styles before judging.

Psychobilly:
The Meteors - UK and godfathers of Psychobilly
Demented Are Go - UK
Mad Sin - UK
The Klingonz - UK
Nekromantix - Denmark
Horropops - Denmark
Batmobile - Denmark
Asmodeus - Netherlands
Cenobites - Netherlands
Banana Metalik - France
Os Catalepticos - Brazil
The Mad Mongols - Japan
Scary B.O.O.M - Russia

You dont like American music? What is American music? I think you are generalizing America way too much, there is no "American" sound as music has its influences spanning the globe. I guess if your talking about POP
music, that would be something that could be localized & generalized. As we speak, top music countdowns have artists from countries all over the world, even songs in different languages. I bet canadian and european songs have "American" influences too. I never heard of say UK or Canadian music.... Is that a genre?

Try the www.lastfm.com player, pretty good music on there, and its Global. Its one of those players that taylor makes your radio station by rating songs.

Africa is pretty old too homes. It probably originated there. Besides Indians and Mexicans, isnt everyone from America from somewhere else? That would make this a pretty divers place also. I still say your generalizing, your talking to someone with over 200GB's of music from all sorts of places and i DJ (not a very good one though). This is a very good discussion but all im saying is there is no such thing as American music or even North American music. Maybe country or rap..... But i've heard Russian country and rap songs and despite the language, could have been composed anywhere.

What bands are you talking about? You mentioned Juno Reactor, some of the cats in that band are from South Africa.....

You may have 5yotabytes of music but I have 60 gigs of SELECTED music. i cant live without music dude.I dont like the things that a LOT of people listen like..my chemical romance. You know, junk food music. It's about quality not quantity. Juno Reactor is influenced in some songs but the main composer is British dude. Europe is my soul's home.Music from Europe is at the same level with my soul. Even if I say the name "Beethoven" I don't have to say anything else dude.
World music? Nah thanks. I dont like fucking cows dude.
America= not my kind of music.

I'd have to agree you on My Chemical Romance..... Not my eye liner, black t-shirt, tight pants wearing, slit your wrists when your girlfriend dumps you, cup of tea.... I see what your saying so now in understand what your talking about.

If music is your soul, then set it free.... The world is a pretty big place and im not telling you who what or when to listen to. People like Bethoven, Jellyroll Morton, the Beetles, Elvis and even Madonna were famous also because of when they did what they did. Granted musical genius has alot to do with it. Its like saying The SugarHill Gang are the greatest rappers of all time and Thomas Dolby the greatest Electronic producer of all time.

My Chemical Romance? Thats one band from New Jersey of all places... Its where Bon Jovi came from. For all intents and purposes they are the Bon Jovi of this generation. I have about 5 bands from the same hood that sound nothing like them. So is it American music? Emo music? Alternative or Rock? What makes a song European? Or American for that matter? I dont think music has a nationality unless they are specifically speaking to those people.... Like Peter Gabriel maybe. Hes and African trapped in a white guys body.

Dont get upset, im not judging you for what you like or dislike, i just dont get how someone can say they like a certain countries music or even a certain regions music Its a pretty big region of over 301 million.... Its not like saying you dont like pork or something. Either way, great discussion and i just downloaded that disc you posted.
