Don't laugh at me, but, I think those songs they play on Local on the 8's on the Weather Channel are nice and relaxing. I like to have them, and, if possible, the full versions of ALL the songs that play during Local on the 8's.

But... here's the dilemma:

Are the songs that play during Local on the 8's different for every state, or are they all the same?

If someone can answer that question for me, then we can go from there. Thanks.

I agree, the songs are pretty good.

I'm pretty sure the songs are the same, since both I've heard cable and satellite channels of weather channel play the same songs during the same run. The problem is that they change the songs every few weeks, so it's most likely not possible to get songs from past runs, especially since they don't give much info on them.

^^^Really?! Crap... so... now what? It can't be IMPOSSIBLE to find them, right?!

You know, I found that I recognized some of the songs they played. Jazz stuff - although I never remember who it was or what the song was called, just that it was familiar and I knew I had it on a cd somewhere.

^^^Uh huh. Is there anyway to post the song online? Because I don't want to waste money to buy a Jazz CD for ONE song only.

You understand, right?

Anyway, it probably is impossible to get them all huh? *sighs* Not... fair... -_-;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Beulah_Page

I would, but I own about half a dozen CDs for each jazz artist, and there's maybe 20 artists. I suppose I could upload ALL of them, but I don't know that you'd want to listen to all of them to figure out which song it is.

UltimatePaladin

^^^Basically, yeah.

*sighs* I should of known this request couldn't be filled. -_-;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

*sighs again*

Sorry! *shrugs apologetically*

UltimatePaladin

The only possible way this could be filled is if the Weather Channel released an OST or soundtrack or something like that with all the songs they play during Local on the 8's, and we all know that isn't going to happen.

Wait... there already isn't a CD out like I just described, is there?!

O_O;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Beulah_Page

Yeah, right - they would have to license the stuff they play anyhow; there's no way they'd pay royalties for a CD. I think there'd be a rather small number of people who'd buy it, anyway. (No offense!)

UltimatePaladin

^^^Meh. Probably. Oh well, I guess this request can't be filled. *sighs* Someone close this please, thanks.

Update: Weather channel actually did make a cd of some of the forecast music, available here: http://www.weather.com/aboutus/television/music/?from=secondarynav

I doubt anyone's going to get it and upload it here though.

Thanks! It's cool that they have a list of what they play. I could totally upload some of these now, UltimatePaladin, if you're still interested.

I would be interested as well, although I hope UltimatePaladin does see this so he can finally get his request.

When I get home, I'll put up a list of what I've got that they've played. You guys can decide which ones you want first, and whether you'd like just the songs they list, or whole albums.

Bogard07
10-16-2007, 10:05 PM
Ok, thanks.

Interesting. And here I thought this request wasn't possible. I would like some songs as well. I don't care what they are, as long as they're from Local on the 8's, it's good enough for me.

Plus, if you can, upload it onto SendSpace. It's because I can't use MegaUpload. Thanks again.

EDIT: Hey... um... anyone have the songs from the CD that was in Bogard07's earlier post? That'd really be good enough for me. Thanks.

UltimatePaladin: Funny you should ask that. I pretty much use Sendspace and Mediafire instead of Megaupload now.

Bogard07: Thank you so much for finding that list! Otherwise I'd have no idea which ones to even offer.

I've been listening to this stuff pretty much since smooth jazz started. (The Rippingtons were really the first major band in this genre.) I'm excited that there's other people with music tastes as eclectic as mine!

I've got albums by the following artists, so I can get most, if not all, the songs listed by them (accompanied by my random commentary):

Boney James (very smooth sax; the album Ride is quite sensual, but they're all equally good)
Spyro Gyra (several of these)
Yellowjackets (quite a few of these, too)
David Sandborn
The Rippingtons (I pretty much have their entire discography; Welcome to the St James Club, Curves Ahead, and Sahara are some of my favorite albums)
Joe Sample
Chris Camozzi
Dave Koz
Najee
Earl Klugh
Russ Freeman (I think the only solo album he's done is Drive, otherwise he's with The Rippingtons)
David Benoit (there's several songs from Benoit/Freeman Project 2, but I think the original Benoit/Freeman Project is better)
Chris Botti
Dave Grusin (I might have Don Grusin too)
Vince Guaraldi
Eric Marienthal
Chick Corea (strange name for a guy, but the music's good)
Tom Scott

That's really a lot of music. So you've got three decisions:
1. Do you want just the songs they've aired, or whole albums?
2. Any preferences on quality? I'm going to rip from the CDs anyway, so there's no trouble.
3. I have no idea where to start. So let me know if there's any artists who strike your fancy, or pick a name at random, or just go down the list. Whatever.

Thanks, I usually have weather channel on for more than half the day, so that's why I went to the site and found the list. I'd like to start with songs they've aired to start with, but I think I'll continue on to some more music from what you have.

UltimatePaladin

^^^What he said.

I really just want songs the Weather Channel have aired as well. Thanks.

Um... can you upload the link with the songs onto this thread, too?

That way I won't have to search the site for it...........

NP, that's what I was planning on...I just need some time to rip the songs.

Okay... I'll wait

I'm really, really sorry for taking so long on these, so I'm putting up what I've got so far. I've just put all the songs in one folder, so you can keep these all together or sort by artist/album as you like, since they're all tagged.

Part 1 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/a0kbpo) & Part 2 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/z6ugtz): The Rippingtons, Russ Freeman, David Benoit & Russ Freeman

Part 3 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/r001om): Boney James

Hey Beulah_Page.....

Are the songs you uploaded ones they've aired? Because that's all I really wanted.....

Beulah_Page
11-03-2007, 06:27 AM
Yeah, I've only been doing the ones they aired since that's what you guys said you wanted. Whoever picks the music does a good job, because those songs are some of my favorites. But I'm always willing to share more if you'd like. I'll try to rip some more songs for you this weekend.

UltimatePaladin

^^^No, no. That's okay. I just wanted to know if those were the songs they've aired. Thanks.

they play a lot of Pat Metheny which is great stuff, even better in its unedited form. Since I bought nearly all his albums its fun to guess which tune in is hearing a few seconds of it.
