I was in an extremely nostalgic mood yesterday. I was listening to the soundtrack, and damn...I started playing the game again, and straight from the beginning. I guess the music triggers me, seeing that I always start to play the game when I'm listening to it.

What does it for you? What makes you the game over and over again? What's your "trigger"?

I don't know yet. I've only played it once. I'm planning another replay of VIII before I do, I can tell you that much.

I know whenever I listen to the world map theme, I always feel like playing the game again. That and the Dali music.

*L* IT'S ALWAYS THE MUSIC! AHHHH!!

I also tend to get into that "let's restart the game again" mode around FF9's anniversary (November-ish), and try to convince some of my friends to play a round of it so we can compare notes again. Ah, good times, good times.

Definately the music, and all the memories of seeing places like Dali and Black Mage Village for the first time.

Thinking about the different parties I could make I still haven't, the ability system and stealing from bosses, which I considered always great fun, except when it took half an hour to get something.

heh come to think about it, FFIX is probably my 3rd favorite game ever.

Well, after listening to the soundtrack last week I too got a hankering for some FFIX goodness.

However, this time I can play it on my PSP which should be nice.

I'll think about it but chances are I might invest some time into it once again.

I saw the commercial again today, and it got me in the mood again. It seems that the smallest thing triggers me to play the game. :/

Without even reading this thread, I started (yet another) game of FFIX the other night. I was jonesing for a good RPG (as in, something in the ballpark of actual role-playing--something Morrowind-ish, as it were), and so FFIX is scratching that proverbial itch. :D

Song of Memories literally is a song of memories for me :P That's what does it for me - my most vivid memories of it are in the ending, which reminds me of how much I loved the game.

I feel the same way as many of you. I listen to the FFIX soundtrack pretty often and it always evokes nostalgia in me, as well as memories of how much fun I had playing it. The gameplay, characters, and detailed environments are just so great. I actually started replaying it for the third time a few months ago and just defeated Necron last week.

I almost had a nervous break down today because of FF9. I'd already overplayed all my Wii+Gamecube games, and there was nothing on tv, and nothing else to do, and my Ps2 has been broken for months, so I finally took out my PS1 and found the wirings and I was cured of my meltdown. I was srsly hyperventalating in need of this game. xD

Gametrailers just did their FF Retrospective episode this week featuring FF8 and FF9. That totally did me in; I went to go play the game right after watching it. ^_^ (I have to admit, though, it was mostly the background music and artwork they were showing rather than the information that got me all "I wanna plaaaay" again). Heh.

for me its not anything that has to do with the game. when i first got it i was 13 or so and that whole school year i would come home and sit with my brother in my parents room (because my dad wanted to watch tv) and played it untill i beat it. every once in a while after that my mom made the same dinner as the one she made on the day i beat it the first time and every time i get the itch to play it again. sometimes when i see their room it reminds me, or if i hear the ff8 soundtrack i think of summertime or something weird like that.

Well, it's my favorite game ever, so that's incentive enough to play it for me.

I guess what gets me the most nostalgic is the art style; at random points, I'd think "this is what a PS1 RPG is supposed to look like". I have no clue why, I just really enjoyed it.

i just put in disk one just for kicks and heard that classic folksy celtic song with the piccolo...

i challenge anyone to watch that little cut scene and not feel those memories of the game come flooding back. as soon as i saw that flying ship i thought to myself 'yea im playing this again.'

to be forgotten is worse than death.

I usually start this game again this time of year, it's the only FF alongside V that I can replay over and over (sometimes VI but it sort of depends on my mood).

What the hell, I think I'll start a new file in the morning. I'm looking forward to it.

If there was a Final Fantasy that I had time to play again, it'd probably be this one. It's definitely the best PSX Final Fantasy.

Hi all new member first post.... so be nice lol.
The thing that spurs me to play FF games again is when I'm trying to convert a friend to FF. I tell them about all the cool stuff and story lines and the massive amount of side quests and how you can get months of gaming pleasure from these games for the same price as a game that will take you a day to complete. The summons, the magic, the epic battles with Omega, the seemingly endless destinations on the world maps, levelling up your characters, months of painstaking searching to find just one ribbon (and being the happiest little moogle in the world when you do)...... that's it settled I'm starting IX again tomorrow.

I would like to advise you not to use phrases like "gives me pleasure for a month," because all of us depraved, perverted individuals will have a field day with them.

Welcome to FFShrine.

Also, I replay FFIX whenever I think of how awesome Frog Drop is.
