I just bought a DS today, and the move buttons make clicking sounds when you push them... Is that normal? ... my brother got one to but It doesn't do It as bad... I was just wonder...

...It also fall off my lap when I was trying to put It back in the box... that has nothing to do with the clicking thing, because It fall off my lap, after the clicking stuff...

Do you think It will be ok? lol .... since It fell? ... I'm worried... I feel really bad lol... I'm a worry cow!!

I believe it's normal. My Advanced SP makes clicking noises too.

My d-pad doesn't make noises, but my start and select buttons certainly do. Makes playing GBA games a pain in the arse.

Thanks for reply... but I played moreof my DS, and It's messed up I think... Because I played my brothers DS, which he got today to... and It works normal? lol ... I'm taking mine back... for another one ^^

The DS I use don't make much clicking sounds, if they do, then it's something really quiet. Also, DSes are quite durable, but if it's a DS Lite then those things can't really pack a lot of punches, the original models do very well. At least you're exchanging hm, that's positive for you. ^^

My DS Lite only makes clicking sounds with the L, R, Start and Select buttons. The rest doesn't.

I'm guessing the clicking noises you hear are in the menu? along with a ticking noise? That's normal. The DS makes a clicking noise every time you move the D-Pad while in the menu, and of course the ticking noise for the analog clock's second hand. Try muting the volume (slide the volume control towards the left end) and see if the check if it's still clicking.

Hmmm... Tact, have you tried sliding the volume all the way to the right?

Also, I'm surprised no one asked this yet: did you get the original DS or a DS Lite?

I got a DS Lite, ....

and the buttons are weird... It makes noise, not like my brothers DS Lite, also the buttons are sometimes hard to press down?...
I don't know... but hopefully they'll take It back? lol and I'll get another one?

I agree that the DS Lite's Start and Select button are hard to press. It's even harder if you have large hands like me :/

I pamper my DS Lite. It's a parallel import from the same batch of pinks with the dead/stuck pixel that was bound for the US (hence a small fugly blue dot on the touch screen, which hardly bothers me at all). I have screen protectors on both screens, never used unauthorized carts on it and never dropped it. Plus, I keep it wrapped in it's original styrofoam packaging when I'm not using it. The only third party equipment I'm forced to use is a 220v charger, because it's original charger is a 110v only.

Yeah, they click all the time. And they are small, and I have to hit them with my nail as opposed to my thumb itself. They are a pain because of this. GBA start and select are just big enough to where this isn't a problem.

Well, I got a new one, It still has that clicking noice on the D-Pad/Moving buttons, but I guess It's not as bad, as It does have the same noice when I shake It *DS* lol! ^^ I guess It just normal with the buttons? :) ... Hmm I mean't the D-pad was/Is hard to push down some times, and yes the Start buttons are hard too lol... oh well, I guess as long as It works? ...

Well, I just checked with mine. It has a very soft, almost unnoticeable clicking noise on the D-Pad, but then I had mine since October '06 and have been using it pretty regularly. The buttons aren't hard to push down even when I first got it tho (except of course Start and Select). As for the noise when shaken, mine has it too. I identified the following parts as the culprits:
- Stylus - apparently it's locked in, but there's enough room in the slit that allows it to move around enough to make some noise.
- all the buttons - they're not locked into place tightly, for a good reason (friction would make the button tight and hard to press). The L & R buttons are apparently the noisiest.
- the volume slider and Power slider - same issues as buttons.

My biggest problem with the DS is trying to pull off a soft reset. It's just easier to just slide the power off and back on than to try to pull off a sextuple bucky (L, R, B, A, Select and Start).

Currently I have Sim City DS on Slot 1 and Final Fantasy VI Advance on Slot 2 (ya, my progress in FFVIA is stalled - I'm still stuck somewhere within Dragon's Den).
