I just realised it's fun to own chocobos. :)

But I'm still such an amateur, I really don't know how to raise them. I only feed them Greens and go to the competitions in Gold Saucer, but the results still just suck... Chocobo Sage or whatever really didn't help me much. I thought that someone in here could give me couble of hints... About anything.

well, i h8 chocobo racing, i only did it to get a gold one.

anyway, onto the racing:

hold down all shoulder buttons and ur noble steed's energy will decrease less.

when it comes to breeding them, only breed them to B class. then, go to the farm, and save outside it. then breed ur chosen chocobo's. if it fails, reset, and try again. actually easier than racing them to S class

apart from that, i dont really know, i thought chocobo racing was poor

Chocobo racing sucks, as you need to do soo much racing to get S class to get a gold chocobo. If you want breeding tips, check different sites, they can give detailed info.

Aeris sweetie, don't listen to these other two guys. Chocobo racing can be lots of fun! :D You just got to have the right chocobo. First off, the best chocobo's you can get are around Icicle Inn. They're "Great" chocobo's and easy to tend. Feed them greens, and good, expensive ones. Anyway, as you do this, take them to the Gold Saucer to race. Your chocobo should match up with other chocobo's about its own skill level. If you're still a little sluggish, as Amarant said, hold down L1, L2, R1, and R2 to slowly increase your chocobo's stamina. The more you race, the higher the level your chocobo will become, and the more chance you have of getting a gold (or black) chocobo!

Any more question's on chocobo's, please PM me.

Yeah chocobo racing kicks ass. But don't hurt your fingers racing. I was, until i experimented and found out that you only need to hold R1, R2 and square to increase speed a lot, you don't need those annoying L buttons.

I love chocobo racing. I recommend capturing the "wonderful" chocobos at the northern part of the map. Also capture one "good" chocobo since you'll need it to breed a gold chocobo. Chances are that once you have a black chocobo, you'd be winning the races pretty easily. My black chocobo had 128 speed, and 999 stamina, and I won all my races with it. My gold chocobo had 146 speed, and 999 stamina. I'd use it more but then the races would be too easy and boring. I like to have some challenge.

You can't find mountain and river chocobos. You have to breed them. First you have to breed two normal chocobos. Try to race them and raise their rank to S class because the higher their rank, the higher chance that you'll have a special chocobo. Use a Carob nut to breed the two chocobos, and you'll get either a river or mountain chocobo. If you breed a river and mountain chocobo with any kind of nut, you can get a black chocobo. Breed the black chocobo with a normal "good" chocobo using a Zeio nut, and you'll get a gold chocobo.

Ive got a gold chocobo and hes great in races! Hes about 165km/m i think, and has got 999 stamina. If youve got W-Item meteria, go to chocobo sage and buy 1 thingy green, um... its 5000 gil any way. Go into a fight and use W-Item, select the green u just bought and use it on someone. Select any other item and when the hand is pinting to someone cancel. keep on selecting and canceling (keep pressing O,X,O,X and so on) until u get 99. Go to the stables and feed the chocobo u want to increase stat points. And win win WIN!!!

It's not nescesary to race 2 normal and a river and a mountain chocobo up to S class, but ur wonderful chocobo (found near the tracks in the Icicle Area) and Black Chocobo u've got to race to S class and them breed them with a Zeio nut (can be stolen from the goblins on goblin island) and presto. If u don't know what greens to feed them i'll tell ya. Go to the home of the chocobo sage and buy Sylkis greens these will cost a fortune but it's worth it, feed every chocobo (the one's u've cought and bred) and the'll become way better.
