Well, I will try to describe is as the best.

at the game I'm in the stillshrine of Miriam, after I defeated the first boss in there, well not exactly in the stillshrine of Miriam just because I can't go on because the monsters are really strong so I thought that my characters might be needing a real big level up (one of FFXII disadvanteges you need to level up a month or something).
I would like to know what is the needed or recommended level that I can continue the game? Right now I got back a bit to thos snowy mountains to level up my characters all to 30 (Vaan is already 32).
So what should I do? is 30 enough for the stillshrine of Miriam? and what Weapons and Armors would be good for a good attack/defence against the monsters there (and Esper that will be the boss).
The gravity of the thing is if I enter the room with the blue bombs monsters in the stillshrine I die FAST, and hardly can run, they just kill all my characters after some hits (before I went to level up but I don't know if it will be slightly change so I ask for any advice if possible).

Please help me, thank you very much (as a FF freak) ^_^".
I'm levelling up about half a year (didn't touch the game for longggg just because of the hard level up >.<).

In the southern most area of Golmore Jungle, there is a skeleton spawning field. You have to kill all of the monsters there first (ALL of them), then run around for a while. Skeletons will start popping up. They are more difficult than the ones at Lhusu Mines, but depending on your levels and weapons, probably not too bad. They do have a blind attack, so equip or set up a gambit to counter that. Anyway, I can't remember exactly, but they give really good exp for that stage of the game.

Also, after you've killed about 40 or so skeletons, the rare monster Grave Lord will spawn in one of the center sections. He may be to difficult for you. If that's the case, just zone away 2 areas, come back, kill all of the monsters, and start killing skeletons again.

(You can make some good money here from the drops, too.)

Actually level wise you are just, fine, you should try augmenting your abilities on the license board. and get everybody to there rank 2 or 3 quickening.
I completed the stillshrine at level...27, now I am stuck at the next cave. Also the next boss is really strong and an Ice esper meaning don't equip an Icebrand, or use Ice magick. you might be stuck because you have to rotate statues, to unveil your path. check gameFAQ.com to find out the right rotations.

Thank you two so much I will use your advices! ^_^
Glad to know that at least my levels are alright... Though I think I should buy newer shields and stroger weapons than the hammers I gave everyone, those weapons are strange sometimes they hit 50 and sometimes 700... I need to get new defence stuff I guess though I have those ice shields!
The bad thing is that you can't gain Gils from killing monsters and you don't get a lot of items that you can sell all the time that's another disadvantage of FFXII (you don't get Gils over monsters unless if it's those missions I suppose).

Thank you very much!

hammers and axes lack in the field of consistency you should try katanas,

(one of FFXII disadvanteges you need to level up a month or something).

I totally disagree, in my opinion the exact opposite is true. In other Final Fantasies you'd need to level up for house and get to maybe level 70 or so to stand a chance of completing it, in this one 45 ought to be enough and that is easily attainable by simply playing through the story with minimal purposeful levelling.

jewess crabcake
08-02-2007, 11:03 PM
all you really need is license points, which you easily obtain by pwning weak fiends in the Giza Plains, you can make a average of about 3LP/per3Secs

MossY
08-02-2007, 11:16 PM
Wait until you get the Golden Amulet d00d, I completed all the licence boards really fast.

jewess crabcake
08-02-2007, 11:41 PM
there is more than one? also, if everyone equips it is all the LP multiplied by the number of people?

MossY
08-03-2007, 12:01 AM
You can get one from that side quest by treating the guy and buy more later on when you reach Old Archades. Also: no, it just doubles the LP gained for each character wearing it.

ayumisrael
08-03-2007, 12:17 AM
ooo thank you!
But could you tell me more about the treating the guy sidequest? I mean how can I get that gold amulet, what is that amulet? and isn't it a bit too late for me (well I'm out of teleport stones so I can't really reach to far away places until I get some and it's not going to happen before I finish the stillshrine most likely).

This is my first play with FFXII so I'm really clueless about the way I should do things game until I learn it for next time (after finishing once in a FF I become smarter for the next).

MossY
08-03-2007, 12:25 AM
You can buy teleport stones from the clan guy in the bazaar in Rabanastre. As for the quest, I'm not too sure what you need to get unfortunately, though I'm sure gamefaqs or somewhere will have a guide. I remember that you have to cross to the tougher part of the Westersand to get some stuff at one point, when I did there was a lot of fleeing done because I was so weak at the time ;(

ayumisrael
08-03-2007, 12:35 AM
Oh well it's fine ^_^ I will try to do it later as soon as I can.
btw Rabanastre is out of reach at the moment since I'm at those snowy mountains (forgot the name) and I have no teleport stones so I have to wait for the opportunity I suppose...

Thanks!

Mt. Bur Omisace, I always teleport there to sell loot since the merchants are right beside the crystal ^_~

ayumisrael
08-03-2007, 12:46 AM
Yeah! those mountains that's where I level up (well only Penelo left 3 more levels and I finish, after half a year I didn't touch it or levelled up in some occasions , I know I'm insane!) I think I'll get new weapons later also as Smarties said the consistency of Hammers is a total blah. Will get new armors as well. I hope I will have enough rare items to sell since there's almost no other way to gain gils, gah.

MossY
08-03-2007, 12:54 AM
Yeah, I was initially blinded by the hollow promises of the hammer and its giant attack stat, but they're pretty terrible really. I never use guns either.

ayumisrael
08-03-2007, 01:03 AM
I should stick to swords then, or is there something better?

jewess crabcake
08-03-2007, 01:03 AM
You can start the sidequest now, if you did the fruiting cactoid hunt, Dantro will ask you o go see his wife, and his wife will ask you to get her random ingrediens but if you want to get all the ingredients you have to progress the story all the way up to where I am, I'm level 35 right now and I'm stuck on, Ahriman, some difficult ghost thing.

Edit: use katanas and ninja swords, or Spears or poles staffs if you have a mage. Also gunners aren't half bad.

ayumisrael
08-03-2007, 01:06 AM
I did this hunt but as I'm on the Mt. Bur Omisace I can't really get to that place now (it's too far away) and I have no teleport stones =\

EDIT:

Are rods bad as hammers/axes?

jewess crabcake
08-03-2007, 01:08 AM
You should fight in the stillshrine, they drop teleport stones(RARELY!), also when you are in rabanatre stop by the aerodrone take a flght use the leisure cabin, they sell teleport stone there,

MossY

ayumisrael, I think you are in a bit of a mess =/ At least there is no need to start over, just purchase the augments on the licence board and buy new armour and weapons as soon as you can and you'll be fine. MEPH WILL ATTEST TO THIS.

ayumisrael

Wait do any of your characters have fire element weapons? You definitely need new armor, they don't hit hard and get everyone lvl 2 quickenings, quickenings increas your MP and I think your health and attack.

ayumisrael
08-03-2007, 01:23 AM
Yeah I have a Flame Sword (or whatever that fire element sword's called) sorry I just don't remember titles yet and the game's not open at the moment so sorry for the inconvenience!

have your damage dealer equipped with a two handed sword and then equip another character with the main gauche( a dagger with 35 evade) and a shield with high evade and the accesory that increses the likelyhood of blocking.............Make this guy your leaded....And when he gets attacked he will block a lot of the attacks because of his really high evade level. And if you have it cast lure/decoy on him aswell. The main gauche can be baught in rabanastre weapon shop.

jewess crabcake
08-03-2007, 05:18 PM
By that stage in the game there are no greatswords only katana, as 2 handed swords. And the highest evade shield is evade: 16

lol I have all the quickenings for everyone, I'm going to get to Archadia soon...

If I may go off topic just a bit I would like to ask if (well I always do it when I first play) I would like before the end of the game to finish all side quests, things, espers whatever comes to mind so I would like to ask if there are side quests/hunts or Espers you can do/acquire until a limited time at the game? I mean like will I be able to do all the side quests and espers right before the end part of the game? or are there stuff I need to do some time before hand?

samonasuke
08-04-2007, 10:58 PM
There is one side quest that you need to start before you go to archades and it is in Nalbina..........Its starts by talking to the chocobo person near the gate crystal and then to the guards near the entrance to the mosphoran Highwaste. Then to conclude it you talk to the chocobo person in Nalbina. I think thats the gist of it anyway........ if you pm me wanting to know more Il go check it out fro you as to avoid you catching an eyeful of spoilers.

Neg
08-04-2007, 11:04 PM
It might be too late for him to do that. To do it, you do the following:

Talk to the woman croutching near the wall on the outskirts of Nalbina. Her name is July and she is a streetear. She tells you she has to get through. Go talk to the guards Gibbs & Deweg (Biggs & Wedge :D ) and they'll let on a fear of Chocobos. Go rent one and ride it into them. They will scatter and July will tell you that she'll give you a reward in Archades. Head to the magic shop or technik shop (can't remember which) and she'll give you a Salamand Halcyon for your trouble.

I think it's still not late 'cause I can teleport back to Nalbina, still didn't reach Archades...

So that's the only side-quest/espers/hunt thingy you can't do just before finishing the game? lol I thought there were many xD.

Neg
08-04-2007, 11:15 PM
I've typed that out so many times here it's crazy. Mainly it's just to relate the location of Biggs and Wedge. Many people here have missed that, and it's great fun for fans of the series :D

samonasuke
08-04-2007, 11:19 PM
Wedge and Biggs have always been there in the background, the initial bad guy in 6, thickening the mix of persona's in barrets green peace gorilla operation in 7, there always there, and I dont see why they should stop now

ayumisrael
08-04-2007, 11:20 PM
I guess lol!
It's hard being a fan of FF -_-. But fun on the same time!

So except for that just before the ending part of the game I will do the rest of side quests and get all the espers, hopefully ^_^. (I always wait until that part I never do side-quests before the last parts except for the Chorographs in FFIX xD).

Neg
08-04-2007, 11:24 PM

Do you ever lay into newbies like me just for the fun of it??? I know I would

Neg
08-04-2007, 11:42 PM
I try not to. Not everyone is into the same things that I am, or into them at the same level. I don't flame newbies, but I'll gladly ridicule a fanboy who cannot see the flaws inherent in any given topic of discussion.

The VII forum is ripe for the picking if you want that kind of action :p The answer is no, though. I'll pride myself in giving up a nugget of rare information (like the Vicks one) but I'm not going to make anyone feel bad about not knowing it--if they did, I wouldn't have been able to tell them about it :D

Not everyone is an expert in everything and that's what makes it all interesting. If I blasted new inductees, they'd either be driven to know more, or just leave something they've started to get interested in. I don't want to risk the latter, and no one should. We're all new to things at one point or another and we should be encouraged to pursue them.

I'll get off the soapbox now :erm:

Martyr is a bit of a life saver allright. I think the corpses arent tooooo bad as long as you keep 2 characters with the gambit ally hp<70%: cura, then their little chipping away attacks wont be much of a concern, this may make the battle take longer but less risky.

It doesn't do any good to check a walkthrough or game guide for the statue rotation, since it varies each time you enter the shrine. The trick is to bring up your area map using the select button on the controller and see which way the arrows for the statues are pointing. The object is to get the statues to face the center of the shrine. When the statues are facing the center of the shrine, all three arrows on the map will be pointing in toward the center of the map.

That would just ruin the game
